The Cintiq is supposed to come tomorrow, I have so much art piled up waiting to get done.

This Intuos won’t be going in the trash, but it’s very old and probably won’t see much use once the Cintiq arrives.

Lost in Thought

With the Council out of session for the next few days and no work demanding his attention as far as the military went–Inshou seemed to have most everything taken care of, as far as undercover work and the hunt for Omega were concerned–the blond found himself more often than not lost in thought. He certainly took time out to spend with his wife, either during her lunch hour in Net Sec or over small dinners before settling in for bed, but for the hours where she was busy with her other duties to Beacon City.

If it wasn’t memories of the world he’d last seen before his stasis, it was thoughts of what he had experienced while locked in those ethical tests, learning how to remain himself even when in the thrall of the Virus.

It had nagged at him that the tests had never really been researched, that what Xander had gone through was something simply glossed over as far as the history texts and the notes from Archimedes’ team were concerned. Not before the testing had begun, of course, but once he’d been through the original thirty-year cycle and then repeated the ‘coursework’.

He didn’t necessarily like the conclusions he had come to.

I’ve been relatively quiet

(The mun’s had some major life shifts in the past month or so. Primarily, mun began a new job at a massive corporation. I posted the commissions I did, and I’ll be doing more art, but the new job was the biggest reason for my silence.

Unfortunately, we also had to put our dog down this past Monday. It was completely unforeseen and my family and I are absolutely heartbroken. It’s hard to walk through the house and see all of the places he liked to sit or lay, and know they’ll always be empty now.

I’ll try to get more active in terms of writing, or at least art, in the coming weeks. )

These were all done in Mangastudio with a very old Wacom. (I’m talking like, 11 years old and still going strong.)

These were a ton of fun and I learned very rapidly as I went.

Hi Leto, can you tell us about a hobby of yours?

“A hobby? Mm, I think the shopping and gardening are fairly known. And as much of a hobby it is, my explorations of my husband probably don’t rate low enough for this site.

It’s not something that’s really talked about in the Tower, but I do enjoy occasional parkour runs on the simulation deck, usually with one of the Guardians.  The scenarios I run are all non-combat, so it’s really like a big obstacle course.

It’s great for burning off frustrations, and one of the ways I can actually keep pace with the combat units.”

What kind of blue colored pencil are you?

I was recently at a big business conference when I overheard a conversation between two people waiting in line at the concession stand. One guy says: “I’ll copy you on that important email to the client.” And the other one said “Only involve me if you think it’s absolutely necessary. I don’t want to be a blue colored pencil.”

Now this was an interesting turn of phrase. He was using the term “blue pencil” as a metaphor. In this case, he meant, he didn’t want to make any unnecessary marks on the situation. But because I’m a language nerd, I realized that the term “blue colored pencil” could also mean something very different. Sometimes the term is used by leadership to mean the most well worn and experienced person in a group: the colored pencil everyone needs most.

That got me to thinking: What kind of colored pencil am I?

Am I the kind of colored pencil that marks up the walls or signs documents when the only other option is a pen?

Or, am I the kind of colored pencil that people use to color the sky—the biggest part of a picture. The pencil that people use, and sharpen, and use again. The reliable blue. Always ready.

Since that day at the concession stand, I have done my best to live each day as the blue colored pencil that people trust. Not the one that gets ground into the carpet and makes a big mess, but the the one who—through guidance and support—helps the team move forward.
