I was hoping to have all 3 of my Freela kids ready by tomorrow, been falling behind because life... but the *STAR* attraction of the three is finally finished! (haha get it? *star* cus she's named after a star AHAHAH)

So this is my official redesign of my Freela baby, Turanga Violet Star Fry.

*Is named after the Violet Dwarf Star. You know, the star that literally forced Leela to face her true feelings more than ever and trust Fry with the most important thing in the universe, and also made her realise she could not deny her undying love for Fry any longer.

*She is a goth punk rebel without a cause

*Angsty Teen (16 years I'd say roughly of age)

*Is besties w/Bender

*Has an ✨ICONIC✨ Witch's Black cat (Fang, Morris and Munda's cat's baby 🥹)

*Her hair has mutations where it glows the colour of the violet drawf star. The glow gets brighter and engulfs her whole hair whenever she is closed to the encyclapod or anything that is in danger and needs to be saved, this includes beings, and whole entire planets. Certain situations one might say.

*She has a connection to the encyclapod and knows where it can be found at any given time. She learns she can communicate to plants, animals, basically anything living.

*Her hair can also change length and texture to best suit her needs. Think like Bayonetta (best video game witch IMO she is boss queen) Violet can use har hair as a weapon to defend herself.

*She is a bad ass boss bitch like her mumma

*Has big fuck off death stomper boots, just like her mumma

*Is an environmental and animal activist like her momma

*Practices witch craft due to her innate connection with nature all that is living.

*Will spend hours debating with her brother Phil and Professor Farnsworth and Cubert about what is science and spirituality, what can be explained and what cannot be explained and try to either thwart them or find a way to bridge the two together.

The Chicky on her shirt is the chicken she's known as in the family, they all have chicken nicknames cus of the chicken hats. I am working on a family photo of them all as we speak. Thank you so much to the incredible @ladybender for the inspiration for this idea. 🥹

Still working on her story and everything but I finally have her design ready and I am so happy and proud. If you ever saw spam posts on DeviantART of a user called FryplusLeela4Eva2getha that was me and I posted artworks of Violet and her two siblings Phil and Sam. Redesigns of them coming soon! I'm just so happy I was able to get one of them out at least before the drop of the first new episode haha.

As he lay there trying to gather his wits and stop his ears from popping, he became aware of a familiar thumping pair of boots. Leela's face suddenly appeared above him, full of fear – her eye was wet with tears.    "Oh God, Fry! FRY!?" She knelt down and lifted his head, noting the cuts and abrasions.    "What's wrong?" Fry asked stupidly, looking at her with concern.    "The turret blew," Leela choked, stifling a sob. "I thought you were in it... I thought..." She trailed off, suddenly feeling foolish and embarrassed.    "Aww, hey..." Fry reached up and gently wiped a tear off her cheek. "It's okay purple – a little explosive decompression never killed anyone important."

Leela chuckled in relief and wrapped her arms around him, hugging him tightly as if to make perfectly sure he was real. Ever since the incident with the bee sting, she'd had a near-phobic terror of losing Fry.

I think I've read this one but I can't remember, the first quote rang a bell in my memory. I love the writing style though! Also Fry calling Leela Purple!!! I love that they use their colours as nicknames for each other. Like when we first saw it in Fun On A Bun (one of my favourite episodes of all time)

Her lips were slightly parted in astonishment at his words, and a drop of moisture formed beneath her eyelid.    "Leela," Fry went on. "You have a beautiful eye."    "Oh my... Fry... that's..." Leela sagged beneath the weight of emotion, and she clasped her hands over her heart. Fry moved forward, afraid he'd upset her, but Leela threw her arms around him and hugged him close.    "That's the sweetest thing that anyone's ever said to me," she said.    "Just the truth, nothing more," he murmured, gently trailing his fingers through her hair. I remember seeing coldangel on TLZ (The Leela Zone) I practically LIVED on that website. My fan fictions are there too, or I think one is lol. It's so old and so poorly written haha. I loved coldangel's art and I think I read a few of their fics too! There's so many I miss from that website. My favourite of all time was No More Secrets and Crash Courses In Love was a close second. Anyways, thank you for sharing this! It was so beautiful! Time for a long-a$$ Leela (Futurama) trauma analysis and how Fry is healing her!

This is from my point of view of Leela and borrows elements of others posts (Mainly @a-love-that-transcends-all and @fryandleelasbigfling for those)

Alright, get your popcorn and reading glasses ready.

Alright, as we all know, Leela was abandoned as a baby by her two parents Morris and Munda. Of course, they did this so that their daughter would have a better life above the surface than in the sewers.

But of course, life at the orphanarium growing up believing to be a one-eyed alien does not equal popularity.

As she grew up, she felt conditioned into believing that she was worthless and bullied by other kids. Even when she took karate, she was put down because she was a "girl". When she left the orphanarium, she had to build many walls to hide her pain during her first job by having a overconfident personality, but her inner child was very much hurt.

It wasn't until when Fry, on December 31st, 2999, got unfrozen and met her. One chase throughout New New York later, this scene...

As the series progessed, we see Leela having many boyfriends that either match her or earned her sympathy.

But of course, all those guys ended up to be revealed as frauds or just used her for her gain. Now that hurt her inner child more.

In between those guys, Fry would always try to earn Leela's love which she often rejects. From being on the moon with her to spending the rest of the day with her while having those parasites. From staying by her side while she was in the coma to making an entire opera about her.

Of course in midst of it all, Fry would always respect her decisions because he sees through all the walls she built; he sees the little Leela inside her so hurt and abu$3d by many. He sees the Leela that wants a hug, to know she is loved, and more importantly, to know that she can be silly and vulnerable around.

So even when Leela said no to his dates, he still (surprisingly) finds a way to help her heal. Even finding her parents...

As Fry became more mature emotionally during the fox era and after all the Futurama movies, she finally said it.

During the Comedy Central Era, the two find themselves in a on-off relationship (Yes, it is annoying. So I can agree with the people that hated the Comedy Central era on that), but as I can tell that (and this is my opinion so don't come after me haters!) it is clear that Leela wasn't yet used to Fry's childishness and his willingness to be with her.

Even when he shows that he finds her beautiful with one eye, as seen in "The Prisoner of Benda," she immediately showed hostileness towards this. But of course, at the end of the day (while they have the swapped bodies) she realized Fry's undying desire to be with her.

Throughout the rest of the Comedy Central and the first 2 Hulu seasons, the pair seem to have a steady relationship. But it was the events of 50 Shades of Green that kind of cemented their love.

While the plot seem to be boring and have nonsensical things in them (as said on Capt-t-Leela [may her account rest in peace and be remembered] post she made with @ladybender in that), the episode of course ends well with the mirror showing that Fry and Leela are indeed soulmates.

Okay, this took longer, but yay, you made it to the end! I know I left out a lot, but this took me an hour or less. But I hope you enjoyed this!

I think ultimately Fry learnt that she went through so much with all of her shitty ex's and he learned that in the end even if she doesn't want to be with him he can still be there for her and be the friend that she needs. I'm pretty sure there's even a point where she says that he's her best friend I just can't remember off some of my head because I am extremely tired.

I had a lot more that I was going to write but it all got deleted and I don't have the energy to write it all again right now but I might do it later. This was a really good analysis though and I appreciate you sharing this thank you. 🧡💜

Okay, bad news. My AO3 account is being a b!tch again so now I can't get back in.

But I have good news, I'm finally out of writer's block and I wrote a Freela fanfic based on Futurama's new episode "Beef" (SPOILERS AHEAD IF YOU DID NOT SEE IT!)

Now some context: I did enjoy Leela being encouraging to Fry, but the whole bra thing kind of threw me out of context. So I immediately thought of Leela's trauma that me and @a-love-that-transcends-all often talk about in our asks. So I wrote this fic because Leela's trauma with her exes is kind of also ignored in the fandom.

Again, a warning for spoilers if you had not seen the recent episode.

After the Contest

Fry didn’t feel as much surprise when he won that hot dog eating contest, but not as ungrateful as he felt. The only thing he wanted to do now is to just be with Leela back at the apartment.

Of course, when he got there with her and Bender, Bender only told them to keep down with the usual noise as he went to his room. Fry set his winner’s belt down on the couch as he and Leela snuggled themselves together in the bed.

“You know, I really love watching you up there.” Leela said. “It’s funny how you did that”

“Well,” Fry said. “It’s always fun like that in my time, but even sometimes, I always loved the future.”

Leela stroked Fry's hair. "You know, I have a special thing for you seeing as you're more hotter and athletic. That's usually reserved for guys like that. But now it's you more."

Fry felt confused as Leela kissed him more deeply and took his jacket off as she took off her boots and scrunchie off of her. Now Fry felt dumbfounded. He never saw Leela act like this. Now thinking of it, she’s been acting like this since the whole Coney Island delivery and when he started his whole hot dog thing again.

Usually, when it comes to his ideas, Leela would insult him at first before understanding in her own way. Even with his dumbest ideas ever getting him in trouble, Leela would always help him. She did help this time by supporting him, but thinking about it now, it felt clingy and a bit forced.

But as Leela kissed him, it dawned on him. Whenever it comes to her old boyfriends, she always seems to jump in without knowing their true colors. It’s usually them being frauds, evil, or just using her. Fry wasn’t like that and Leela knew it. He was always so kind and trusting to her, even respecting her decision when she said no to their dates.

As Leela fidgeted with his pants now, Fry calmly placed his hands on her.

“What is it?” Leela asked, nervously. “Was it something I did or are you just too tired from the contest?” She was confused, her old boyfriends never made her stop and have her keep going.

“Leela, I’m gonna ask you something personal, but you don’t have to answer if you don’t want to.” Fry said.

Leela only tilted her head in confusion, but still nodded.

“Did one of your old boyfriends make you do stuff like this?” Fry asked gently.

Leela still looked at him in confusion, “what are you…” Fry gently shushed her, wiping away tears that she didn’t notice.

“Leela,” he began. “Like I always said to you, I love you more than anything in the world. That also means I never want to see you hurt more than anything else. I know it’s confusing because of all the hurt you’ve experienced, but I’m always willing to wait. If you’re ready, then I’m ready. But I’m gonna ask you one more question, is this what you want tonight for me?”

Leela was speechless. Her eye glistened with tears before asking “Can we actually just cuddle and watch a movie?”

Fry looked at her lovingly with understanding in his eyes. “Of course.”

Leela's eye was now teary. She thought back over some of the things that had happened between them; she knew there had been times when Fry had been hurt. She thought about her old boyfriends and how it shaped her into a tough woman. But even she felt the need to please Fry when they started dating just to have him stay.

She fought back tears, but a quiet sniffle leaked out.

"Oh Fry, I'm so sorry for almost pressuring you like this. I'm sorry I'm almost put myself into this."

He hugged her tighter. He kissed the top of her head. His hand moved up her back and caressed her hair.

“It's OK, Leela. I love you. I don't care about waiting. All I care about is the future. I want you in my future, and I want to be a part of your future. I want to be that person that’s kind, funny, understanding and wants you to be happy.”

Leela smiled as Fry took her hand back to the couch for a little rom-com to watch. Once in a while during their movie, Fry kissed the top of her head, saying “I love you” and complementing her.

“He does love me” Leela thought, being glad that she doesn’t always have to please him for love as she snuggled with him.

This was so good!!! I think this is my favourite fic of yours. You nailed their characters so well, and I love how in depth you read Leela's trauma with men. This is definitely something that hits home for me, having similar trauma myself - always being made to please in that way and thinking I had to make them stay. My partner, my Fry, was the first man to help me recognise that, and help me start my healing journey with it.

This is so touching and beautiful 😭 you've truly outdone yourself, I really enjoyed this read. I was able to visualise it so clearly in my mind. Amazing work!

Omg yes!!! Also I loved that Fry called her on her Eyepphone and was all like the damsel in distress. Like the first poster design they did when Hulu announced it was reviving Futurama. I can't find a screenshot of the scene but you probably remember which part it is from the latest episode! I was like "YES LEELA GO GURL GO GET YOUR DAMSEL IN DISTRESS BOYFRIEND!

I love how they protect each other and how their roles switch, but like at the same time they have their respective roles that fit their personalities. Fry is like soft protective, and Leela is more like "fuck I gotta save my boyfriend and our Bendy our child too (if there's time lol)" that joke was running for a bit in the episode lol but anyways yeah idk sorry I hope the makes sense.

I love their protective dynamic so much and how much they love and care for each other and how they always put each other first. 🧡💜
