i wanna talk about mechamaru and miwa for a second and see if im stupid bear with me.
i read the manga about a month ago and the scene it cuts to as mahito touches mechamaru and kills him is way shorter there, like only a handful of panels. i initially assumed it was a memory that mechamaru was thinking back to as he was dying, sad that miwa wanted to visit him and now she would never have the chance.
however, watching the anime take it's time with it, i remembered that last week we saw miwa back at kyoto walking into a room where mechamaru was sitting on the couch, telling him to turn in an assignment etc. he told her he was going to go to sleep even though it was the middle of the day, right around the time his fight with mahito was beginning in the basement and im assuming he couldn't use that form and his real body at the same time.
that scene ends with miwa poking him and realizing he's in fact "asleep". then in today's episode, the set up of this "memory" is exactly the same, same room, same stances, same positioning. it was harder to notice in the manga with how few the panels were and the lack of detail, but in the anime it's very straightforward.
that means that miwa talking to him about meeting him and wanting to get closer wasn't one of mechamaru's memories. right? it was happening simultaneously.
he was dying thinking of her and at the same time she was confessing to him that she wanted them to get closer, back in kyoto. so mechamaru never knew this. he never learned that miwa liked him back and wanted to meet him regardless of him getting his body back.
it hit sm harder with this info and the time that was put into it by mappa. now however im seeing ppl on tiktok refer to that scene as a memory and im so confused bc i think its fairly easy to miss in the manga (or maybe i was just stupid back then lmao) but very much there in the anime, so im questioning my sanity and i want u guys' input on this pls fosmshsksk
HC where Kokichi paints on Kasumi's back with gouache, as on canvas. Once she offered, in the absence of canvases and watmans in the house, to draw on her back. Kasumi gets up and walks over to the mirror, intrigued. She is so beautiful in the sunlight, pink highlights play on her skin, they smoothly merge with contrasting olive shadows on her pumped-up arms and the shadow from the edges of the towel strips disappearing behind the elastic band of wide trousers. Kokichi helps her with her hair, throws a waterfall of wet strands on her shoulders over a towel so as not to smear paint, and lightly touches lips to her shaved temple. Her enchanted gaze is fixed on her back in the reflection of the mirror: from the peaks of the shoulder blades to the waist, a fire of scarlet flowers blooms inside rectangle.
“Red primroses!“ Kas says this along with Nori, who has approached them
“It seems they shine like after the rain“ said Nori
He carefully examines Kokichi's creation and calls both to have breakfast. He also clarifies, just in case, if Kasumi is cold like this, in one canvas on her shoulders and with wet hair. In ch181 (?) We see this one panel of her super focused very scary, like she meant business (i cannot find the panel tho im sorry). This happens right after Yuuta vs Takako and Ishigori.
I remember thinking ooh maybe Miwa and Yuuta would team up, but then also why??
Then I had this thought of Miwa now having Mechamaru as a curse and going to Yuuta for advice, but because for Yuuta it comes much more instinctively because of his relationship wih Rika,he doesn't have much to offer (mostly because I'd like her to not have to rely on someone else too much) and she has to navigate having a curse with her.
Her recent appearances do make her look like she still has her brand of nervousness, which I like about her, so I've drawn her like that too. I also gave her Kokichi's ear piece thingy, wonder if that's what created the curse oohh.
For Kokichi I've mixed his human form with the bandages and hair and his mech from his fight with Mahito, because I like to think that was his sorta freedom form compared to the usual metal/wooden mechamaru. It was after he got his body ofc but also after trying to right his wrong.
