But you know what’s bugging me the most? When Mona was revealed as the original A the game could have ended. But what happened? They made it look like someone else was in charge all that time. They made us believe there was some kind of Uber A. How many times they told us we should look for the clues in the Pilot? All these years we were led to believe that the real A, that epic mysterious villain was someone close to the Liars who was involved in all of this from the beginning. I was waiting for A to be revealed for all these years and in the end there was no A. Because Alex Drake was irrelevant for most of the time even though her character had so much potential to be that iconic villain. And I’m not even going to mention Charlotte because her story doesn’t even make sense and that’s the biggest problem. The point is: The story could have ended after Mona’s reveal. The story could have ended after Charlotte’s reveal. We had three different villains and three different motives. There was no fucking Uber A. And that’s disappointing.

The entire writers’ room thought a lot about this and part of it was actors’ availability. When you don’t own certain actors and they’re not series regulars, you never know if they’re going to be available to you. There were times when I loved the idea of Wren being A.D., Melissa being A.D., a combination of those two, but ultimately we never knew if we were going to get those people in these last 10 episodes and that sort of started discussion that A.D. really needs to be someone who’s a series regular and fans were always wanting it to be one of the girls … which makes no sense to me because they really would be torturing themselves — the mythology would never work. So that’s when we thought, well we love twins on this show and making it a twin of a PLL is sort of having your cake and getting to eat it too, so it’s almost a “pretty little liar.
