Approaching Storm
Aaden storms into the clinic, his face frantic, though showing signs of little emotion. His movements erratic and scattered as he fumbles in. “Ash!” He says setting his eyes upon the woman riffling through the cabinets.
Having spent the morning obsessively combing though Emberfury’s medical stock, Asharri almost drops the vial she held in her hand she had been inspecting; startled. She had waited most of the morning for either Caitira or Falorine to show up to give her a status update on the physicals ran the evening prior, but her mind was clouded. Elsewhere.
Fumbling to catch the vial, she promptly puts it back into the cabinet and whirls around to face Captain Sunswift, “Aaden,” she eyeballed him in surprise, “What ever is matter?“
Aaden holds up a black rose as he approaches his old friend and reinstated superior. "This. This is all I found in Cait’s home. Everything was ruined, furniture parchment, books, everywhere, I-I-.” His words were scattered, unable to form and one single thought.
A soft thud is heard as the ledger Asharri held in her hand fell to her feet and onto the plush carpet. Paling considerably, she stepped over the ledger and approached Aaden with great concern, though her eyes bore into that rose and what it represented to her more recently. “That son of a bitch!”
With a dumbfounded look, Aaden inquired, “What? Who? Is she okay?!”
Asharri cupped her face into her hands, a growl followed by a long sigh could be heard muffled behind them. Allowing her hands to fall to her sides, she bit her lip a moment - if only to prevent it from trembling.
“Rhovin Thorne,” she spat venomously. “That's who. I received a letter from that lunatic just days ago and a rose just like the one in your hand. Careful not to prick your finger. I am sure it’s poisoned."
"So, it really has come to this.” She continued, her tone a somber calm. “I am so sorry, Aaden.”
Aaden arches a brow. “Rhovin? I thought we were done with him? I don’t understand, Ash.” He sets the rose carefully on the table before them.
Asharri placed her hands upon her hips, her eyes following that dreadful rose. “I can’t quite understand his continued interest myself, Aaden. Though, I believe he may be trying to get to me.” With a shake of her head, she allowed her fel tinged gaze to fall upon her dear friend and captain. “Taking Caitira, however…. that is taking it too far. Now it’s quite personal.”
Leaning into the table before him, Aaden’s mind began to clear once more from it’s clouded state. “I fear for her, Ash. I know she can take care of herself, but I cannot loose her again like this.”
In her grim understanding, Asharri nodded as she neared Aaden. Clasping his shoulder in a reassuring fashion, she looked directly upon him. “I will do everything I can to find her. I am sure our forces in Suramar can survive the time being while we arrange for more tactical advances in this rather delicate matter. Do what you need to do to set your mind at ease. Look for further clues within her home. But please, do not set out on your own.”
Aaden looked upon her quietly as she spoke, doing her best to comfort.
“Can you promise me this? He’s deranged, Aaden. I cannot even begin to imagine what other foul things he has up his sleeve,” She continued, urging his compliance.
Aaden finally lets out a scoff, as his lips spread into a reluctant, yet brief smile. He stares down the rose before him. “You’re always two steps ahead of me aren’t you, old friend?”
He regains his stance, crossing his arms once more. “I will send word to Diya, that I will be longer than expected. But Ash, I cannot sit idle as Cait is missing. Let me search for clues and scout on ahead to know what we are walking into.”
Asharri frowned as she looked upon him. For a moment she was quiet, studying him and then to that rose with a loathsome stare. Finally she sighed, nodding in agreement. “I would not ask you to sit idle. I know I would not find it within me to do the same. Do what you need to do, but remember - she could be absolutely anywhere. So running into any direction the wind blows is foolishness.”
Aaden nods his head, his face remains emotionless, perhaps trying his best to remain level headed in the situation at hand. He lets out a sigh as he finally meets his friends eyes. “Thank you, Ash. Seems we have a knack for getting these people to mess with us don’t we?” He offers her a halfhearted smirk, lightening the mood some.
Asharri managed a weak smile, before nodding her head once more. Crossing her arms over her chest, she sighed, “It would seem so, Aaden. It would seem so."
Glancing over her shoulder, she grimaced. "I have been trying to increase our supplies in light of the letter I received. In light of our forces being spread thin. And now, it seems we are going to need to boost it all rather quickly in light of this horrible event. I am not even sure what we are up against.”
I won’t keep you any longer. Time is of the essence, after all. Whatever clues you can find at the scene outside of this rose will aid us all the more.”
Letting his arms fall to his sides, Aaden sighed, "Right, you’ll be the first to know if I find anything. I’ll be at her residence until then. And Ash, stay safe. I don’t want to loose you again, either.”
Asharri inclined her head towards him respectfully, "You keep safe as well. Though, do not worry about me. I will be fine. If I am to meet my end, I surely wouldn’t give him the satisfaction of having a part in it.”
Aaden smiles, and bowed his head, “Glad to hear it.” He carefully picks up the rose, placing it into a pocket of his satchel. “You know where to find me.” He nods his head and exits the clinic.
