Aleksander Dragonov || FC: Ian Bohen
✗ 1048 (d. 1462)
✗ Vampire {Klaus’s Line)
✗ Aleksander had no way of knowing his entire life would turn upside down when Katerina Petrova walked into it. It began innocent enough. A bit of flirting and a few late evenings sneaking out of the small Bulgarian village. She was younger, so much younger, and promised to someone else, he knew exactly what it was and he knew it wouldn’t last. That was until one night she came to him in tears, barely calm enough to tell him that she was with child. If he had been a better man, he would have stayed. He would have stood by her side as she told her parents. He would have helped shoulder the shame and taken care of her when her parents inevitably disowned her, but he was a coward. He watched her struggles with the pregnancy and watched their child be taken to another family. He watched Katherine be ousted onto the street and try to move on with her life. He tried to find her, but it was too late. He went to ask her parents where she was and only found a mad man lingering over the bodies. The man, Klaus, demanded to know who he was before forcing blood down his throat and snapping his neck.
Everything changed when he woke up. Klaus gave him a mission. His life’s work, hunt down Katarina and bring him back to him. He chased her for centuries, getting close, but never close enough. He wasn’t sure what he would do with her if he ever did find her. He had screwed up so much of his past, perhaps he owned her a free pass. Klaus didn’t let up his hunt until Aleksander let news of their child slip. News that the Petrova line would continue, another doppelganger would come was music to the vampire’s ears and he allowed Aleksander to live. After a century of service, Klaus began to trust him, as much as he was capable of trust, and the two crossed paths several times over the next few centuries, most recently in New Orleans. Being around Katherine once again is proving to be particularly challenging, especially when the girl he used to know is gone.
✗ While Aleksander started off a cowardly, over the years he has risen to the occasion. Years of solitude and time spent hunting have turned him from a kind and gentle man to a manipulative one. He’s an excellent tracker and can easily read any situation. He values his power and his influence around the city.
✗ Aleksander and Katherine’s relationship is complicated. After all of these years, he prefers to avoid her. She’s changed too much for him to still feel sorry for his lack of support during her time of need. Though he still wonders if all of this could have been avoided if he had stood by her side.
✗ Aleksander wouldn’t exactly classify his relationship with Klaus a friendship. More symbiosis. They help each other out when possible (and when Klaus feels inclined to grant favors.) Aleksander is still one of the best trackers Klaus has ever seen.
✗ Upon arriving in New Orleans, Klaus requests that he finds out as much information about the doppelganger as possible. Trying to get information from her two closest friends Hunter and Amelia seems like the best possible solution.
