Architectural tectonics do-not rely any longer on matter but on imagination and narrative as a structure. The âworld buildingâ does not happen only in films and games, but around us, in our pockets, accessible through the successful marriage of an LCD screen and the camera lens on the opposite side of our AR enabled devices.

A workshop in collaboration with Nissa Nishikawa
The 2016-17 course uses the fields of interaction design, exploring methods of inputing indoor and outdoor activities to process and design digital experiences. We will be utilising multi scale motion tracking and IoT sensors to capture the active and reactive surroundings. Real-time render engines, 3d centric software, custom built digital tools and many cables are used not as a vehicle to design but as a method to provoke and question our senses and perceptions. The screen space and AR technologies will be our building material, teasing the border between screen and realm, approaching animation, game design and interactive installations as a process of choreographing space through yocto-seconds.
