Hack Hostel
Located in Chicago, IL is the Hack Hostel, which a short term leasing apartment for students that are attending the code school Starter League as well as Dev Bootcamp. The hostel was started by Nate Kroll (pictured) after he attended Starter League.
I'm shooting a promo video for the hostel as they are looking to expand into the Pilsen neighborhood and need funding. I'll be posting the video here once it's done!
Vintage Lenses
i recently attended a DSLR Dynamics workshop put on by Barry Andersson in Chicago and it re-ignited my need for vintage lenses. I only have one right now which is the Takumar 55/1.8 but it's awesome. I stumbled upon it at a thrift store. I happened to have an adapter in the car that day as I was hoping to find something. I screwed it on to the back of the lens and it worked perfectly. Vintage lens score! The next lens that I am looking to acquire is the Helios 44-2 58 mm f/2 russian lens. I have seen test footage and pictures from this lens and must have it. Everything that comes from it looks gorgeous and the bokeh is amazing. Luckily they are fairly cheap on ebay and abundant. I will have one soon and will be posting samples of it.

Double exposures are a dime a dozen, but Andrew Lyman’s Fleeted Happenings adds a new dimension to the technique.
Lyman’s portraits appear as ghostly transparent figures traced in white light.

It's been a while since I've updated so I'll fill you in on what has happened over the summer with my personal photography and videos.
I ended up in northern Minnesota for the 4th of July this year and was able to capture a timelapse of the fireworks as they burst in the air over one of the many lakes to the "oohhs" and "ahhhs" of the spectators on their boats.

In August I was able to travel to northern Michigan by Mackinac Island. While there I decided to take advantage of the lack of light pollution to get some long exposures of the stars. While doing this the first night I was able to capture the Northern Lights!

So that's what I've been up to for a portion of the summer. I'll be posting a few more on things that I have done for work!
This old Kodak M30 Instamatic came from a thrift store. It also came with 7 reels of unused film. I need to dive into this one day soon.
