[ finish line ] “i’m shutting down the fansite.”
daehwi looks up at you in sheer horror, unable to believe his own ears that clearly heard your delicate voice and his eyes that are looking at your watering ones. his eyes slowly traveled back down to his hands. the previous giddiness of seeing you completely fading and replaced by sadness and confusion instead.
you were one of daehwi’s closest friend, up until a couple of years ago, when you decided to become a fansite for him instead. not wanting to ruin his imagine, you intentionally separated yourself from him. never showing up at the park the two of you used to frequent.
daehwi waited for you day and night, hoping that you would show up if he simply waited. so he did. but you never came.
the first time he saw you again was when you were entering the fanmeeting area, holding a large camera that had his name stood on top of it. it was obvious you were avoiding his eyes, but he didn’t mind. not when he finally saw you again.
and now, after he finally found you again, you’re telling him you’re closing down the fansite? he couldn’t believe it. he tried to ignore the pain in his heart.
after a while of silence, you looked back into his eyes, holding back the tears that were threatening to fall.
“daehwi. please. i just need you to listen to me before i disappear from your life again.”
at this, he immediately shot his head back up, hand still holding yours.
“please don’t wait for me. you need to move forward. so please, i know this is your dream. it’s one that you’ve had since you were seven. now go and run till the end. run till your finish line.” you smiled sadly at him before abruptly yanking your hands away from his and running towards the door. hoping he didn’t see your tears.
“i admire you so much, daehwi. no, i love you. but our line ends here.”
