I have an idea using that AU about two boys who decide to leave their hometown in the search of a missing mother (and they accidentally fall in love along the way)

i used to write about trauma and loss and death with a focus on pain and endings that were the final nail in the sadness coffin but now I still write about trauma and loss and death but with a focus on love and how it gets them through that pain and endings where they heal, where it’s not all for nothing and that’s character development baby!!

one thing i really love about writing is there’s nowhere to go but up. i have periods where i feel really down on myself and feel like a terrible writer, but then i remember that as long as i’m putting words down on the page, even if it’s not very good, i’m improving. every word you write is making you better.

this goes for all forms of art too. as long as you’re practising and working hard to improve your craft, you will see improvement. it might not be today or tomorrow, but it will happen. the only way it won’t happen is if you don’t practise at all.

I adore characters who self-identify as Morally Skewed and start out basically trying to con the world but then they realize that the best way to get what they want is to Act Like A Good Person and Do the Right Thing so people will trust them and they 100% think they’re pulling one over on the world and tricking people into Thinking they’re good when they’re not—but they happen to be pulling a long con and they wind up internalizing the Good Person Values and then before they ever notice it, suddenly they’re not playing a character anymore they’re just A Good Person Now and the only con they’re running is the one where they’re fooling themselves into believing they’re still selfish and haven’t changed

I think one of my favorite slowburn/oblivious mutual pining tropes is when the pair goes on not-a-date. That is, when they go hang out, alone together, doing things that would normally classify as a date if the two of them weren't stubbornly telling themselves that they were reading too much into it, they're just hanging out like friends do, no really. There's always a moment right at the end where they nearly kiss but something interrupts or they lose their nerve at the last second and it's just so good
