“Okay, but usually people go see friends at their houses. Not at hospitals…” He chuckled gently as he led her inside. Over dependence? Addiction to not being in pain - Oh, Nathaniel had no room to speak of addiction. He would deny his addiction up and down, but it didn’t change the fact that he was addicted and depended on his Adderall.

“Well those people’s friends are normally at their houses and aren’t workaholic doctors.” she teases. She followed him to an exam room hopping up and stretching out her leg for him to look at.

“No one willingly comes to see a doctor…” Nathaniel said, sighing gently and started to walk toward her. He held his arm out for her to link hers with his. “Well, then come on.. Let’s go get it checked out and get you some drugs…” He said, leading her inside.

She smiled a bit glad he didn’t pester her about over dependence or some bullshit. “Hey, we’re friends. I come and see my friends.” she said linking her arm with his.

Nathaniel sighed gently and turned his head to look over her. “Good afternoon, Abigail…” He said softly and shook his head. “No… nothing really.” He pushed himself off of the wall. “Just enjoying the lovely day…” He looked to her wrist and sighed gently. “What did you do this time?”

“Can’t I come here to say hi to my favourite doctor.” she said putting her hands on her hips then sighed. “Not buying that are you. I didn’t get into a fight again if that’s what you’re thinking.” She tapped her ankle. “Remember when I....’fell down the stairs’ the first time and twisted my ankle. Well it’s flaring up again”

It really was quite a lovely day to be spending outside. Nathaniel took every free moment he had just to stand outside the ambulance bay. It had been quiet. A little rest for the wicked as Nathaniel liked to call it. He rested his head back against the brick wall. What was he going to do? What were his options anymore? He honestly didn’t even know. That stupid man had him wrapped around his finger and it was like Nate was paralyzed. He was told to run and he didn’t run. He kept buying plane tickets and then letting them go to waste as he decided not to run. He swallowed hard and sighed, looking up at the sky as he tried to think clearly for once.

The young woman rubbed at her wrist. She’d been getting etter about fights but it didn’t take from the fact that her body had a lot of wear and tear from the fights she had been in. It made her training difficult and she knew if she was going to be able to keep up this week she’d need a shot of cortisone. It was expensive so she didn’t get it often but she’d scrimped and saved refusing to go out with her brothers in order to get enough for this. She only needed a couple more months and she should be a part of the guard and she wouldn’t need to do this again. She stopped though when she saw the good doctor. “Nate. Something up?”

“Good. Someone needs to help him along and make sure he doesn’t ruin his life. I’m sure that you can do that. You have my permission to bully him as much as you want to get him to do things,” She joked. “It’s nice to know that someone has confidence in my ability to rule since I really don’t have any confidence in myself right now,” She admitted.

“Of course I have confidence in your ability.” she said smiling then grabbed her hand squeezing it. “I guess I’ll just need to keep building you up until you regain that confidence in yourself.”

“I won’t say another word about my very carnal, sexual desires for your boss.” She laughed. “Buuuuut if you can somehow make sure we’re alone sometime in the future….” She dug a little more, but ultimately just joking. 

“I’m going to try and make that a mantra. Maybe I can do a lap around the castle while chanting, ‘my body will get used to this’!” She said.

She gagged. “Disgusting.” she teased with a small smirk showing she was joking as well. She decended into full on laughs as Lulu spoke of running. “Come running with me.” she said. “I can be your work out buddy and it’s easier when you’re not alone.”

“I’m glad to hear that. Sometimes I think I come off a little strong! I think it’s something we might have in common.” He intoned, with a chuckle.

Julian held his hands behind his back as he walked along the side walk, and enjoyed the sharp breeze that rippled through their clothes. “I love the markets. You get to see the melding of people who live and work in this small country.” He spoke to keep the conversation going.

“You don’t come on very strong to me at all.” she said but shrugged. ‘But then not everyone thinks as I do.” she said simply looking around in agreement. “The market is lovely. It’s a breath of fresh air compared to the castle.” she said feeling like she’d been so cooped up as of late with her training and looking over the family.

Madeline chuckled as she watched the girl rummaging through her purse. “If you have enough money in your wallet to cover their debts, I would advise you to change your habits.” Her tone was terse and she narrowed her eyes. A warning.

“...How much do they owe.” she said biting her lip knowing she only kept maybe sixty dollars on her and that was on days she was going shopping. “Nevermind. I have forty. Maybe you could take that and let them take some time to pay you.” she said softly.”

“He wouldn’t have gotten you fired. He may be many things but deep down he is actually a nice guy who cares about others.” Tristen was a nice person but since his accident things had changed. Hopefully Abigail would help with that. Make him the person he used to be before everything happened. “A lady-in-waiting is required to assist with dressing, caring for cloths, performing secretarial duties, etc. Also they accompany a lady on her engagements at home and abroad. Usually it’s just a fancy title for the queen’s friend. When? Well don’t you have high hopes for me.”

“Perhaps not.” she said with a smile. “But I couldn’t be sure at the time. I barely knew him. Now I know he wouldn’t. And now well trust me I wouldn’t let him get away with anything.” she said with a laugh. “Well I hope that we will be friends when you are Queen.” she said and then shook her head. “They are not hopes. I am certain that you will be a beloved queen.”

“Now, Micah is one handsome piece of man. I wouldn’t mind… you know…”She made a growling sound, as she laughed. 

“I mean I don’t think he’d be the type to join us, he’s got King and country to contend with, but a lady can dream.” She sighed, as she poured another beer. 

“Well, that’s good. I can’t even imagine what that would be like, I get tired going up a flight of stairs. What do you have to go through I wonder.” She said.

She let out a small laugh. “Oh god. I don’t want to think about that. He’s my boss.” she said shoving the woman playfully. “Besides definitely not the guy for me.” she said shaking her head. She shrugged a bit. She’d fought all her life. She never knew anything but hard physical activity. “It’s not so bad. I mean there’s always a learning period but your body gets used to it pretty quickly.”

“Even so, Miss Abigail, the market place isn’t that far. It would be a nice distraction, no?” He said, looking at her expectantly.

But he shrugged with a small smile. “Either way, I’ll be heading in that direction, and if you happen to join me I wouldn’t complain.”

She smiled at him. She wasn’t used to people being so nice. Not where she came from so it was consistently odd to have Charlotte or Lulu or Tristen or this man acting so kind. “Sure. I mean there is nothing wrong with going. And your company is enjoyable.” she said.

“There’s a very simple solution as to you not paying. I can make up the money in the story I sell to the press. But that would be rather nasty for you, wouldn’t it?” She crossed her arms and raised her eyebrows at the person across from her.

The young girl overheard and ran over. “How much do they owe.” she said reaching into her purse. She didn’t know what for and she didn’t know if her meager earnings would warrant enough but she didn’t like threats.

“Friends? Yeah, maybe I will.” She chuckled, not sure if she could invite just anyone to the kind of party Abigail offered. “I’ve always wanted to see if Micah is a fun drunk or an angry drunk. Maybe I could get more than two words out of him.” She shook her head, taking a long drink to finish off the alcohol.

“Mmm, that reminds me.” She said, wiping away alcohol that had dripped down the side of her mouth. “How’s you’re training going?” She asked, getting everything together to make herself another drink.

She opened her mouth then stopped herself. Of all people Lulu thought of Micah. She wasn’t going to back track and beg her not to choose him but she worried about that. Micah was her captain after all. She didn’t think she could relax around him. She bit her lip and smiled a bit. “I’d say quite well at the moment. I still have a lot to learn but perhaps I can proe myself as more than a trainee by next year’s end.”

“You screamed at him? Oh god. I would have paid money to see that. I think he deserved you doing that after all he’s done. Next time could you record it?” She smiled, “Monarchies are very fragile things. If someone who is in charge of a country has a scandal then the common people will not trust their leadership. I can’t be with Adrian and get into trouble. No one would trust me as their queen. I trust you. You’ll be a wonderful lady-in-waiting.”

“Hey. He seemed to have given up on life. Nothing else was getting through to him. Although I was terrified he was just going to call Micah and get me fired.” she said rubbing the back of her head embarrassed. She was sometimes too impulsive for words.” She shook her head as the woman spoke of scandals. As if the current king and queen hadn’t had a single one. But she wasn’t going to argue further. She knew how people thought. Well perhaps just her people. The poorest of the poor. Perhaps the middle class would have a longer memory but she truly didn’t believe Charlotte could do anything worth remembering and tearing her apart for. “Aren’t ladies in waiting supposed to be proper or something.” she mumbled. “But if you would want that when, not if but when, you are queen I will not refuse you.”
