"The Black Alpha "Slipknot Edition" was created in collaboration with drummer extraordinaire Joey Jordison. The "Slipknot Edition" consists of Joey's personal selection of Alpha models - creating a Black Alpha Set that features the core look and sound of Joey’s 2008/09 touring set. The cymbal set consists of the 20" Metal Ride, 1 T\18'1 and 19U flock Crashes,I an 18M Rock China, a 14” Sound Edge Hf-Hat and a 10M Metal Splash. The core set consists of a metallic Ride with an icy wash, coupled with powerfully cutting, sturdy Crashes and energetic, roaring Hi-Hats. The set is rounded out by a loud, shattering China and a Splash with a wild, smashing attack."

MD: “Pieces Of You” has a great riff and a tension/release vibe, and it’s very catchy—it has those old-school pop handclaps.   Joey: That song started out as kind of a joke, but for big Murderdolls fans it might be one of their favorites. It’s so catchy that we might actually have to make a video for it. [laughs] We call the handclaps “the Beach Boys part.” We still have to have that joke element— that’ll never leave.

MODERN DRUMMER: You’ve recently put out the first Murderdolls album in eight years, Women And Children Last. Besides the fact that you primarily play guitar live, how does Joey Jordison of the Murderdolls differ from Joey Jordison of Slipknot? JOEY: Not much at all. I mean, it’s two completely different styles, obviously, but you're seeing the same person that you see when you see me with Slipknot. I have the same intensity. I don't have intentions of trying to be different or anything like that. The Murderdolls are just as much a part of my soul as Slipknot is.

This industrial rock version of Billy Idol's '80s block-buster comes from Joey Jordison, aka 1, the masked drummer who propelled nu-metal shockers, Slipknot. "The 'Knots' noise terrorism agenda would never have allowed such public displays of weakness," he says. "The maggots would never have sanctioned it." Jordison's shot at a new kind of stardom comes from the imagination of Billy Idol, the English wannabe punk who fronted the sneered at Generation X before larging it in America as a solo artist and peroxide rock superstar. Born Willian Broad, Idol was a shy kid. He carved out a new identity during the halcyon days of punk. Eventually he quit his band and took off the States where New York clubbers named a drug cocktail after him. With the man who once managed KISS in tow, Idol set his sights on a mass audience. He spent a massive (for then) 35 grand on a video for his song White Wedding and dominated MTV, then 'the big new thing'. That was it. In '83 Billy Idol became an instant celebrity. Joey Jordison's entry in "Encyclopaedia Metallica"

The diminutive* Slipknot drummer stood in for Lars Ulrich at 2004's Download Festival when Ulrich was mysteriously taken ill on a flight from Europe. He has since blamed the incident on a panic attack, although far more colourful insinuations filled the pages of the music press and the Internet in the wake of the incident. With Ulrich in the hospital, Metallica were forced to hunt around for a replacement at short notice, with Jordison offering to fill the vacant drum stool. In the end he played on the bulk of the band's set, with Slayer drummer Dave Lombardo performing on two tracks and Lars' drum roadie, Fleming Larson, on 'Fade To Black'.
