Havik!!!!

Oooookay!!! So we’re long past halfway through this series and it finally landed on Havik, a character whom i absolutely adore! Introduced in Mortal Kombat Deception, Havik is the first and so far only character to hail from the Chaosrealm, where he lives and thrives as the cleric of chaos. Havik’s MO isnt to cause misery, or spread harm, but instead to preach and spread his message of chaos and total unrestrained free will. This always made Havik interesting to me, especially with how he’s not necessarily good or evil in his appearences, despite his horrific appearence and how he can rip apart his body at will with no harm done.

However… Havik’s MK1 iteration is probably one of the worst character assasinations in the series for me. Taking him from this fun, creepy, morally unclear character, and turning him into generically evil with a really awkward plot about him being from Orderealm now… (and no. I’m not gonna bring up how Mk1 Havik is Dairou because nobody fucking remembers Dairou.)

It’s just a mess, and all in all a really frustrating take on a character that me and many others waited so long to see again. Much like fellow mk1 downgrades Nitara and Li Mei.

However that aside, the pin… honestly? It may just be because i’m typing this at 1am and desperately want to sleep, but i genuinely do not like this turnout. I think the detailing for his face is cool, but the outfit is so bland to me, especially the belt/sash that has no details. Typically i’d work with it, but after the nightmare trial and error i had with Ferra/Torr, i’ll take only being happy with his upper half if it means i dont have to spend another 2 hours trying to rework it haha.

Jacquie Briggs

Okay so boom!!! The next MKX character in the roster, and probably one of the ones i think has the most wasted potential.

So Jacqui Briggs, introduced in MKX alongside the other 3 kombat kids Takeda/Kung Jin/and Cassie Cage, is the daughter of special forces operative Jaxon ‘Jax’ Briggs. Just like Cassie before her, Jacquie was made to be part of the new generation, a new line of warriors for the story to focus on instead of forever tying itself to the og’s. However, unlike Cassie, Jacqui i’d argue got put in a really bad position. Despite being in both X and 11, which neither Takeda or Kung Jin got, Jacquie never really stood out on her own. She was always relegated to the best friend role for Cassie, and had an admittedly really cute flirtmance with Takeda in X (though it was dropped in 11)

Her MK11 ending does give some insight into her personality, how she was literally willing to fully erase her own existence just so her father didnt have to experience and grapple with the trauma his time as a revenant caused him, but in all honesty thats about the most depth she receives. It makes her feel the most like a reskin of her relative, especially when characters like Takeda, or Kung Jin, have such creative spins on their relative’s movesets, or Cassie who’s the perfect mix.

I really like Jacquie, i think her design is unique and the gun gauntlets are such a fun way to spin Jax’s metal arms around. But as it stands i just wish the writing team gave Jacquie something more than being just the best friend.

Goro!!

Okay so boom!!! I took a lil mini break because i was having some motivation issues following Ferra and Torr. So after dealing with that and focusing on myself for abit, i’m now back on regular track with today’s character Goro!

So for those who know MK, Goro is probably one of the most iconic characters. Being that he was the first ever miniboss, and the first ever member of the shokan race of fighters! Funny enough, the first ever Shokan is the last one i’ll have done for this series.

Anyways, keeping this one short because as iconic as he is, i dont have too much really to say about Goro!

Ferra/Torr!!!

Okayyyyy so this will be a short one. Introduced in MKX, Ferra (the small childlike girl) and Torr (the larger male with the bag over his head) are a symbiotic duo who fight and act as one singular force. With Torr being the silent broad shouldered monster and Ferra being the loud brash leader. They’re pretty much just that however as neither have much relevance outside of being jobbers for Kotal Kahn, and are often relegated to just being set dressing for outworld.

The real talk here is that i HATEDDDD drawing these two. Ferra/Torr was the result i wanted the least to get from my wheel pick, which is why this one took me longer to do, but alas here they are. Doing Torr’s frame with all his armor was tough enough but trying to get Ferra in there without looking wonky was just a nightmare. But uj the end i am proud of this one!! And I’m definitely DEFINITELY glad to have it over with.

Daegon!!!

Aaaand just like that back to flops. Fnsbdjsns Daegon is certainly not the character i wanted day 50 to land on, but i guess this is where the cards have fallen.

Anyways, introduced in MK Armageddon as one of two central antagonists, Daegon is the brother to demigod Taven and the one who is fated to compete with him for the honor of slaying Blaze.

No shade but i kinda think Daegon and Taven both are just sooooo pointless. For MK Armageddon to be such a huge incredible event in lore, with everyone coming back in some way, shape, or form, i dont think we needed two brand new fighters to join the ranks. It makes the story at times feel like self insert/yn fanfiction to me. Though that may mostly be because neither of them really leave an impact and are largely forgotten about nowadays.

In the art end tho i an really happy with his turnout. The outfit was fun to draw and i lovedddd getting his colors to line up right!!! Was definitely one of my favorites to do since my hiatus ended!

MILEENA

SCREAMS!!!

Okay okay okay okay OKAY!!!! This is a huge one for me. For those who dont know, Mileena is one of my all time favorite characters in mk as a whole. Up there with Sindel, Khameleon, Tanya, and Kintaro in my top 5, where Mileena reigns as 2nd place due to her being my staple main across every game!

Mileena was first introduced in MK2 as the twin sister to princess Kitana, though throughout the story of the game we learn that she wasnt actually Kitana’s sister and was instead a clone fused with Tarkatan DNA. While iterations if Mileena have gone from a bloodthirsty clone who doesnt care for Kitana, there were a few early versions who did seem to mourn the fact she wasnt actually her sister. And these details were expanded upon in MK1’s reboot where Mileena and Kitana were in fact twins. It’s honestly one of the changes in MK1 that i liked the most, even if i prefer Mileena as a villain, her and Kitana have a really nice relationship that i enjoyed watching whenever they shared the screen.

All in all i’m really proud of this pin! I worry it may be abit low on contrast, especially with her ponytail, so in the future i may update it to change her hair’s position.

(Lowkey those of you here on Tumblr probably will just get the updated version edited into the post so this lil bit is mainly for IG people who wont get an updated post for a minor change like that fbsjdbs!!)

Drawing an MK character Every Day Until I Finish The Series Roster - Day 48!

Onaga!

Back on normal schedule finally, we have the iconic boss from MK Deception; Onaga!

Legitimately one of my favorite final boss characters of the series from my favorite game in the series, so suffice to say i was pumped to get him!

Onag is a really hard character to draw, the refs i had to work with were really low quality do lots of the details really got fudged so hopefully they dont look too bad haha!!!! Anywho, Onaga was introduced in MK Deception as the final boss and former ruler of Outworld. The dragon king who once wielded an undead army and lorded over his realm with an iron fist, Onaga’s story focuses on him being hell bent to reclaim his throne, doing so by manipulating the young Shujinko under guise of acting in line with the Elder Gods’ wishes.

Cruel, calculating and malicious i would absolutely kill to see Onaga return someday as i just adore his character sm!!!!

I hope yall liked this one because i’m very proud of his turnout all things considered!!!! I will see you all tomorrow for the next one!!! Bye!!!

Madame Bo!!!!

Okay! So i’ve been away for abit… as i mentioned in my last post, i took time away from this series and my regular art work for the sake of a big change…. I moved!!! So as such i havent had alot of time to dedicate to my art, especially not the daily series i’d been conducting. So finally after a not-so-brief hiatus, i’ve returned!!!

My first mk character back is honestly not the most exciting… but still a fun one! Madame Bo! Introduced in mk1 initially as the new era timeline’s teacher and guardian over our heroes Kung Lao and Raiden. In more detail it was revealed that Bo was a warrior in her own right, and that she had been the one to give birth to lin kuei warrior Sektor.

It’s also speculated that Madame Bo is this timeline’s incarnation of Bo Rai Cho, due to similar names and their roles in comparison to earthrealm’s champion, though as far as i’m aware this has never been confirmed!

I like bo, she’s a fun gimmick character and that meme of her falling off the rail went PLATINUM in my house LMAO!!! I’m pretty proud of this, the smug cheshire cat grin works perfectly for her and i am super happy with how she turned out hehe!!

Artfight!!! + update

Hi everyone!!!! It’s been a hot minute fndjdhdhdhd!!! So as i mentioned in my last post here, i’ve had to recently take a break from art as a result of moving into my first solo apartment. It was alot of time, work, and stress to get things all settled and to finally get comfortable enough in the new environment to be able to sit down and draw properly again but as of today i’m finally back!!! Regular Daily MK posts will begin again tomorrow, as well as me finally continuing my posts of my Story Race series over on my sister blog @dragracebuttheyarefurries here starting tonight!!!

I wanted to just thank all of you here on tumblr who i’ve been able to accumulate through my MK art, i know alot of yall dont stick around much for my casual furry content, but seeing people come back to my fan work for a series i’m so passionate over is just incredible even if there isnt alot of yall. Howdy everyone!!!! I’m so sorry for such a prolonged silence, i’ve been hard at work within my personal life as of late, including moving out into my own apartment, and so i havent had as much time to draw or work on the daily mk series and likely wont for a small period of time as i get settled in!

However, as it is my birthday, i wanted to pop on here to give you guys a gift! The sketches for upcoming daily mk’s; Madame Bo and Onaga!! Drawing a Random MK Character Every Day Until I Finish The Series Roster - Day 46!

Geras!

Okayyyyy… back to characters i personally dont care for. Geras was introduced back during MK11 as a right hand to the main villain Kronika, essentially being the game’s sub-boss even if iirc he never really acted as one in the arcade mode.

Geras to me was always a character i think less of as ‘oh thats geras the guy who blank’ and more of a ‘oh thats geras, the object to get around’. With his lack of real character outside of the fact he’s Kronika’s lackey.

Mk1 does alleviate that issue somewhat, with him getting a little hint of a personality and a relationship with Liu Kang. However both iterations are just really boring and bland to me. Which sucks because i actually really love the idea of a villain being a soulless being that acts upon it’s creator’s every desire. And with the segmentation of his limbs, it always felt to me like he was partially designed off of marionettes or just puppets in general. I just think that idea is so eerie, and i wish more than anything they had committed fully to this idea of him being this puppet brawler who’s arc involves him recognizing his own lack of agency, or beginning to find his own agency. It would be really interesting, and honestly even if it turned out bad i’d honestly much rather a bad character than a nothing character.

As for the pin itself, i went off his MK1 design as MK11’s costumes are absolutely horrendous outside of like… Sindel LMAO!!! I think he turned out really cute, i added a few additional bits of segmentation to just really push the detail since its not always noticeable on these smaller scales, and i think it looked really good!!!

Kitana!!!

BOOM!!! Super late post but idc the day doesnt end until i sleep 💃💃💃💃

Introduced in MK2, the princess of edenia needs zero introduction. Easily the most iconic female face (alongside Mileena) of the franchise (i know Sonya stans will argue this but lets be 100% real here, show a headshot of Kitana and a headshot of Sonya to a rando person, and more people will be able to point out Kitana no shadeeee!!!) ANYWAYS!!! This was actually a tricky one for me, Kitana is such an iconic character that i - one didnt want to do a look that i always loved but fans didnt really recognize as a staple look (such as her basic in mkx), or a look thats iconic that i felt didnt capture her character well (such as mk9) or a look that i felt was perfect but may have been too niche (such as mk shaolin monks), so it left me with very few options. Unlike all the other femme ninjas who are on the list (or was in tanya’s case), i have their pin look picked out immediately. Mk9 for Jade, MK Deception for Mileena and Tanya, and lastly the MK9 Alt for Skarlet, Kitana was the only one who didnt have one picked out. So as a result, with the help of a friend on discord (ty gucci) they helped me settle on the classic mk3 look, with some details carried in from her mk shaolin monks (her arm guards and hairstyle) and the vaguely mk9 inspired fans!!

Overall i’m very proud of this one, i had alot of fun drawing her, and even if its not the most intricate or iconic look of her’s it’s definitely one of my faves!!!

Drawing a Random Mortal Kombat Character Every Day Until I Finish The Series Roster - Day 44

Motaro!!!

OKAY BEFORE EVERYONE JUMPS ME FOR DRAWING HIM IN HIS MK ARMAGEDDON COSTUME- there was no way in HEEEELLL i was gonna draw a full centaur body for these simple front facing pins- i’m sorry i just couldn’t fathom the hell on earth that would be for me and my anthro furry artist ass fjdbdjdbdjdn

So as a middle ground, for Motaro i did his Armageddon look with more visual details from his mk3 look, such as the paler chest/belly area, the spikes on his arms, the fully white eyes, and the tiger-esque stripes on the back of his horse body. So pleek mk community dont kill me for drawing him with two feet 😭😭😭

ANYWHO- for those who dont know, Motaru was introduced in Mortal Kombat 3, as the game’s new sub boss character replacing both Goro from the first mk, and Kintaro from mk2. This would expand abit of lore, as the centaurian race (which motaro is) would be heavily at war with the shokan (which Goro and Kintaro would be), and Shao choosing Motaro as his new right hand essentially meant that he began to show favor to the centaur. There’s alot of honestly really interesting storylines you could gather from this, especially with fellow mk3 newcomer Sheeva actually discovering the deeper truth of these implications before Shao had her killed. Unfortunately due to Motaro being well… a centaur, he’s made little to no appearances following his initial debut game. Mk Armageddon had him playable, but alas as my earlier paragraph will state, fans were not fans of his new bipedal appearance (and since it was MKA, his gameplay was rather barebones) MK1 recently brought him back in centaur form as a kameo, which no shade is probably the best way for his character to have been brought back considering the lack of real complications making hitboxes and such for the kameo fighters. Though i dont recall if he’s very good or often used as i dont play online much rjdbdjd

Anywho, despite the challenges i had alot of fun and am very proud of this pin!
