I made a thing @mysnarkyslytherinsecret I thought you’d like it :)
Severus Snape + Being dramatic when he speaks
I love this.
”She spins and she sways to whatever song plays without a care in the world. And, I’m sitting here, wearing the weight of the world on my shoulders. It’s been a long day, and she’s pulling at me, saying,
“Dad, I need you. There’s a ball at the castle. And, I need to practice my dancing.”
AU: Snape & his daughter, Serena
“I am a princess. All girls are. Even if they live in tiny old attics. Even if they dress in rags, even if they aren’t very pretty, or smart, or young. They’re still princesses. All of us. Didn’t your father tell you that? Didn’t he?”
He helped him ALL the years without Harry noticing it. Harry should have known better himself than to try a spell he knew nothing about. And that was the only dangerous one we read about in the HBP book.
20th years of pure magic!
A scene you wanted to be in the films
It Mattered that Snape was the Half Blood Prince
In the 6th movie, I wish they had included the way Harry talked about the Half Blood Prince and defended him in the books. I’ve read complaints that the movie’s reveal of Snape as the Half Blood Prince falls flat because there’s no real suspense built up over his identity. It’s not surprising, I suppose, since even people who have read the books seem to find this point unimportant, but I believe the identity of the Half Blood Prince, and the fact that Harry doesn’t realize who it is as he grows to respect and defend him, is very important. Harry has been reading his Potions book all year, at least until he had to hide it, and has been thinking of The Prince as someone who has helped and taught him. He likes this guy. He thinks The Prince is a genius. He even trusts him and is shocked when one of the spells goes horribly wrong and injures Draco. But still Harry defends The Prince and the spell. Only after Snape kills Dumbledore does Harry find out that the person he’s been growing to admire all year is his hated Potions Master, and now murderer of his beloved mentor. The timing gives Harry no chance to ponder how the person he knows from his Potions book and Professor Snape relate to each other. I imagine it’s not until long after the Final Battle that Harry is finally able to contemplate this connection.
I think that Snape being the Half Blood Prince gives Harry a foundation from which he can come to understand, and later forgive, Snape beyond the Pensieve memories alone. While the memories give Harry an understanding of Snape’s motivations and actions, it’s through the Potions book that Harry developed a sort of relationship with The Prince/Snape and came to think of him as a person he knew and actually liked. Even many Snape fans seem to believe that Harry came to forgive Snape from the Pensieve memories alone, but I don’t think so. I believe that, over time, Harry was able to see Snape as the same person he had come to know (and like) in the Potions book. Seeing Snape as The Prince would humanize him in a way the Pensieve memories alone couldn’t and thus give Harry a positive connection to Snape that would surely play a significant part in his ability to forgive him and, ultimately, name his son after him.
I love how when JK Rowlomg apologized for Snape's death, everyone is like "Screw Snape, remember ALL who died! YOU SICK PEOPLE FOCUSING ON ONE CHARACTER!"
It’s funny how up until the age of 18, we are told to be quiet and listen, then ages 18 and up we are told to stand up for ourselves and be independent.
Credence: *turns out to be the obscurus*
Graves:
Unpopular hp opinion: i hate Lily Evans and think she was not a good friend. It pains me how much Snape's life was fucked up because of a self-centered shallow person
While I don’t hate Lily Evans, I don’t really think she was fair with how she dealt with Severus. He called her a slur (I’m not defending him, that was messed up) and she was right to be angry. But, he apologized accordingly, several times, and she wasn’t willing to forgive him. NOW, I think it’s entirely up to her to move on or not to. What I don’t find fair is how she just seemed to ditch him after that. James bullied her and Severus as kids, but she ended up ditching Severus because of one cruel act towards HER. James bullied them both several times.
Then, she ends up hanging out with the Mauraders after that. That’s like a double-punishment. Secondly, Snape allowed Lily to affect his life because of his own choice. She did hurt him, but he allowed it to consume more than it probably should have. I feel sorry for him, but he also could’ve moved on, even if it was hard. It’s not easy to lose such a close friend, so I see why it hurt him throughout his lifetime.
“Expecto Patronum!” From the tip of his wand burst the silver doe: she landed on the office floor, bounded once across the office, and soared out of the window. Dumbledore watched her fly away, and as her silvery glow faded he turned back to Snape, and his eyes were full of tears. "After all this time?“ ”Always“
