Hi! This blog is run by DragonFlyAce, and this is being used to offer tangible journal entries for Ace Willowsbane, my character in The Echoes of Oakhurst, a Vampires SMP inspired server.
Ace keeps a journal on her where she records what's happening, and she addresses each entry to her father as if she's writing him a letter, which she does with the intent of giving him the journal when she returns so he can read about her experiences as if she's telling him directly.
Episodes will typically have at least one long entry and a few short ones that are given as a voice over, and I will update this blog with the written versions of the journal entries that are used in that week's episodes as they release.
This is mostly for fun, but it's also meant to make it feel more like a journal.
Hope you guys enjoy, and make sure you check out The Echoes of Oakhurst (linked above)!
MORE INFORMATION ON ACE WILLOWSBANE BELOW
Name: Ace Willowsbane
Age: 21
Pronouns: She/Her
When Ace was a young child, her father, Henry, was arrested for the murder of her mother, Christine. He was found over her body, screaming about vampires. Assuming he'd gone mad and killed her himself, they arrested him and tried him for her murder under an insanity plea since they believed he wasn't of sound mind.
Ace was raised in an orphanage until she aged out, and she went to college to educate herself so she could get answers to free her father. She doesn't know if she believes that vampires are to blame, but she trusts her father is innocent, so she's open to finding proof.
While researching places with a history of the supernatural, she discovers Oakhurst, and she decides to explore it herself. Her research told her that Oakhurst's alleged curse is every 200 years, and since it's only been less than 100 years since the last recorded massacre, she assumes she's safe.
Now that she's here, she's realizing something's not right ....
Looks like I’ll be spending more time here than I planned. Everyone’s been nice to me so far, so at least the stay won’t be too hard, but I can’t stop thinking about you.
No matter how long it takes, no matter what it takes, I will make it home to you.
The curse is real, and it’s early. Something is keeping us from leaving the town, we’ve had a blood moon two nights in a row, and a beacon in the town has activated, which is apparently another sign. I still haven’t found proof of vampires, but I’ve met someone who says they have family who had history with them in Oakhurst, so they may be able to help me.
For now, we’re doing the best that we can to get by. I hope we find something soon.
I’ll be arriving at Oakhurst soon. I keep thinking back to everything I’ve read, and if the resources hold any credibility, I should have no issue finding the evidence that I need.
According to the history books, Oakhurst has a dark past filled with death and destruction, stories dating back centuries of a curse that surfaces every 200 years. It’s said that every time the curse returns, anyone inside the town is unable to leave until it’s over, but no one ever does. Some accounts say that vampires are to blame. There are even mentions in some sources that suggest a series of books hidden somewhere in the town that hold the cure to vampirism entirely, but there’s nothing currently published that can verify either of these claims.
I don’t know how many of these stories I believe, but I believe everything originates from something. Regardless, it’s been less than a century since the last recorded massacre, so everything should go smoothly.
I’ve just been informed we’re approaching the outskirts of the town. I’ll write more when I arrive. Be home soon.
I believe I’ve found a lead to proof of your innocence. I’ve been researching places with a history of the supernatural, and I’ve discovered a place called Oakhurst. There are rumors dating back centuries of vampires who lived there. I don’t know the credibility of these sources, but I’ve decided to look into it myself. My carriage leaves for Oakhurst in the morning.
I don’t know how long I will be there, but I will not return until I have the proof I need to bring you home.
