ON THE DAY OF THE CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH – the real championship match. Sonia came to Wyndon so that she could cheer Leon on. The way things were looking it really seemed like that kid had a chance of dethroning him. Something no one else had even really came close to !! As things were for the moment she sat in his locker room giving him words of encouragement and luck. She’d give his hand a soft squeeze before he went out there …
It was a bit of a bittersweet feeling, watching the battle as it played out. Even though Leon had a title to defend and she still wanted to see him defend it, a part of her also wanted that kid to win. She watched the whole battle from the screen in the locker room, how Leon was brought down to the last wire – his final Pokemon, Charizard. And then, she watched as it was defeated.
Sonia almost couldn’t believe it, Leon’s reign as champion was finally over … She watched as he gave his speech to the new champ. She knew that he’d be coming back to the locker room shortly, and she’d be waiting with open arms when he did.
“ Leon are you … are you okay ?? ”

That was it huh? After years and years, battles and battles. Gym challenge after gym challenge this is how it ended. To a new kid on the block, the very kid he sponsored himself. Did he really sponsor the kid to take over his spot as champion? Even Leon didn’t know, he wasn’t even sure if he thought the kid could make it this far in the first place. Though, it was all in the past now, he was just a trainer now. Just another challenger, he wasn’t the champion anymore. His reign was over.
When he heard Sonia’s voice, he looked up at her. At first, all he had was a blank state on his face. It was a lot to take in that’s for sure, though after a while a smile grew on his face, he had to keep smiling after all. That was the nature of battling, there will be a time someone was better then you will arrive, no matter how long you trained for.
“Hm, why wouldn’t I be?” Of course, his body was filled with emotions. Anger, happiness, fulfillment, regret. It was all there, but he couldn’t show it. At least not so close to the gym.
