ActKnowledge in Salt Lake City!
ActKnowledge has been invited by United Way of Salt Lake City to offer the opportunity to teach Theory of Change to UWSL partner organizations on March 14, 2012.
ActKnowledge will be guiding UWSL partner agencies through what a Theory of Change is, how it can inform strategies around a common agenda, and how local agencies might use ToC in their own communities to communicate a broad neighborhood plan. It is a rigorous tool for planning, evaluation, and organizational capacity-building and is sure to be a great addition to any local organization’s toolkit.

Join evaluation and Theory of Change experts from ActKnowledge for an in-depth Theory of Change experience! This interactive and hands-on session will teach participants essential tools and strategies to incorporate ToC on an on-going basis. We will address advanced topics in ToC, offer practical tips and lead participants through facilitation role-plays which will enable you to more effectively incorporate ToC into your project planning and implementation. Participants will also come away with a real-world understanding as to how to use ToC in monitoring and evaluation efforts and how to adjust programming to be more effective based on the lessons learned from your Theory of Change mapping. Topics covered will include:
Basic components of a Theory of Change
How do decide the scope of your theory
ToC in comparison with logic models and log frames
Practical tips for preparing your group for the Theory of Change
Mapping and facilitation role plays
How to spot and manage red flags in your ToC process
Practical advice for implementation
Success stories from the field
Individual consultations
This 1.5-day intensive is followed by one-on-one afternoon consultations with ActKnowledge’s staff. This workshop is ideal for evaluators and program professionals who already have an understanding of Theory of Change as a methodology, but who are looking for deeper understanding and more ways to implement and take advantage of what it has to offer. However, basics will be covered and no prior knowledge is required.
