Did your talk with Ashleigh provide any useful insight?
I went to Arizona and spoke with Ashleigh Miller. I was able to obtain this. It belonged to Nathaniel. Seems like he held on to it for a while. -A
At this point in time, Andrew has really left us with two big holes: the yearbook picture, which was never discussed after he originally posted it, and the burned car from the last audio notes. The yearbook picture...I don’t think is important to finding Nathaniel. I think it’s a bigger picture piece--one of those pieces that, in a larger context, does matter and does tell us some part of the story, but in terms of finding Nathaniel, it’s mostly irrelevant.
Now. The burning car. Like I said in my notes, I’m glad Ashleigh posted her story before this episode, because otherwise I think we’d all be losing our collective minds. “But Ro,” I hear you say, “why are you so willing to believe her? She could be lying or just simply mistaken!” To which I have to say, you aren’t wrong. I don’t think she’s lying, but she could absolutely be wrong. But go and read her story again, and tell me the person she describes doesn’t sound a like a man who is very used to being a rabbit. Why else would someone not only bolt but leave town entirely because of a podcast talking about finding Mary and Nathaniel?
What I’m trying to say is, I think we have enough solid evidence, from the information that we have, to posit that Mary Wesninski was murdered in that shootout in Oregon. Nathaniel has potentially been alone since 2010--since he was, what, 16? Which, honestly, I’m trying not to think too hard about right now.
What I am trying to think about, is this: What’s the “something big” that Andrew mentions in the audio notes? The things I’ve said here are not difficult conclusions. There are no major leaps or hurdles. I think he probably find out more and was able to draw a solid conclusion with whatever information he found, but Andrew still gave us enough to come to this realization on our own. Thus, I don’t think that’s necessarily what he’s talking about at the end of the audio notes. I think he found something else. Or something else found him? Either way, there’s some particular reason he couldn’t (or wouldn’t) share the particulars of the burning car with us. Which I respect. As I’ve said ad nauseam, I trust Andrew’s judgment. If he felt like he couldn’t share that with us, I know it’s for a good reason.
But what? The last time he took something out, he did so because he didn’t think it was our business, basically. It didn’t matter to the investigation. It was personal to Nathaniel and Mary. Maybe this is the same thing? The “something big” was too much for us to know, when we didn’t really need to know. So he left us enough clues to figure stuff out, with the help of Ashleigh’s story, because that’s all we really need to know. Or, well, theorize I guess, since we can’t say we know that Mary Wesninski is...dead. Unless he tells us himself and gives us that evidence.
This got a little longer than I wanted it to, so I’ll stop it there. If you have any thoughts of your own about this, hit me up.
Alright. I’ve been in a bit of slump recently, but I’ve finally found some motivation today to re-listen to last week’s audio notes and write down my thoughts properly. These are just general notes for the episode--I’m going to make at least one other post to talk about the last few minutes of the episode in particular just because otherwise this is going to be too long.
- The entire interview with Officer Thomas is put into a slightly different light when we taken into account the statement put out by the CPC. Obviously not because I think he’s lying like they say he is--I trust Andrew’s judgement, especially since I don’t feel like he’d meet with a cop unless he was sure about their information--but because it makes it obvious that what he’s saying is a big enough deal for people to start tarnishing his reputation. By saying he’s lying, his credibility is immediately shot for a lot of people, which is exactly what they’re hoping for.
- Anywho, conspiracies aside. We still don’t have clear confirmation on whether or not it was Mary and Nathaniel--but who else could it have been, really? Who else would have drawn out Nathan enough to make him blow his whole operation?
- The fact that he surrendered so easily is...so suspicious. Did he think he would be able to get out or not charged with much? After all, he was only charged with having illegal weapons--not for fucking opening fire on a goddamn playground. The initial charge was very light, considering the circumstances. And then things just...got out of hand. Like Officer Thomas said, it just snowballed.
- What were the feds doing there? Why would they try to stop Nathan from getting an attempted murder charge? Why try to cover it up? I can only assume that they’re working for someone else, but...
- I honestly have to give it to Officer Thomas--I’m not one to respect cops, former or otherwise, but he’s clearly thought about all of this for a long, long time, and he so has so many solid theories of his own to contribute.
- I’m very curious as to these other witnesses. I wonder if Andrew tried to get in touch with them and they didn’t respond, or if they didn’t have much to say, or if he didn’t want to put it in the notes?
- I know this was 2004, but still, you’d think there would have been security cameras SOMEWHERE in the vicinity of this park.
- I’d bet you anything the forces that got Andrew fired are the same ones that got Officer Thomas fired.
- The fact that Officer Thomas knows about this other case in Oregon is either a) a ridiculous coincidence, b) a conspiracy, or c) Lady Fate actually smiling down on Andrew Minyard to give him a break for once. Not sure which one I’m leaning more towards.
- Has anyone been able to find any indicators that the shootout Officer Thomas describes took place? I’ve looked around the news sites in that general area and can’t find anything, which means, most likely, it was covered up. Again.
- I’m so, so very glad that Ashleigh posted her story before this episode came out.
And that’s it for the general notes. Now on to some theorizing.
In case you missed it.

updates:
hey everyone. seth here. im finally home and going through this shit load of audio notes andrew sent in. i want to say that ill have them done by tonight, but i know i wont. if you want good quality and if we dont want to get sued by one of these people on the notes that didnt want to be named, its best we give me the night to get em done for tomorrow.
so.
audio notes will be posted tomorrow. renees home and shes helping me sort through all of it. dan says i should be sorry for the delay, so im sorry.
we got a few questions about the directory. im updating it now as well as the website.
and
to lessen the blow, which playlist do yall want next? renee or dan?
Thank you for the update, Seth! We all appreciate your work and how much time you spend on making sure everything is how it should be.
Also, that's a very difficult choice. My vote is for Dan, but if you wanted to give us Renee's too, I doubt anyone would mind...
are you able to get a hold of renee? or are they both not responding? either way it’s kind of worrying
I’ve gotten a few texts from Renee so I know they’re safe. She won’t give me any more information than that (she’s loyal to a fault). I need to be able to talk to Andrew directly to get an ETA on all these things. He has to send the notes, but he also has to approve the editing before we put them out. It’s a whole thing. -Dan
Alright, so, two things:
1. Let’s not assume that Andrew is missing just yet. He posted something on Twitter yesterday, so I don’t think we have...a whole lot of cause for worry, at least not right now. Hopefully he’s just very busy with everything that’s going on, and hopefully we’ll hear from him sooner rather than later. It sucks about the audio notes, but mostly I just hope he and Renee both are alright.
EDIT: Okay, so Dan says she’s heard from Renee, so they’re both safe at least. That’s good.
2. I hope Seth has had fun at Pride, he deserves it.
what do you think people’s reaction will be to the new audio notes?
And with this ask, I’m calling it. No one has heard from Andrew. We’re not sure what’s going on. But even if he were to send in the notes now, Seth has been at Pride all weekend and I don’t know that he’d be able to get them edited and out tonight anyway.
So, I’m sorry for the delay. We knew this was a possibility, but I also know it’s always a disappointment when things don’t go according to plan. I’m still trying to contact Andrew. I’m still trying to get the notes. Hopefully, tomorrow. I’ll post another update then.
Andrew, if you see this, call me you little shit. -Dan
Is there gonna be a delay with the audio-notes ?
Sunday night is still the plan. However, Renee and Andrew are not home and we don’t have a solid ETA on when they’re supposed to be home. Their plans have changed a number of times this trip. It’s all going to depend on if Andrew has everything he needs to get and if he’s able to upload and send them to Seth on time. Last I talked to him, that was still the plan. However we all know how these things have a way of going awry. -Dan
