Commander Rules Committee Axes Commander Tucking!
Tucking a Commander by putting them into their owner’s deck or hand has been pretty standard as a way to eliminate threats. However, the new rule states that Commanders sent to hand or deck may instead, at the owner’s discretion, be sent to the Command Zone.
Interesting. I see the merit with their first point, Commander is all about playing cool generals in cool decks, and tucking does ruin that. However, points 2, 3 and 4 all seem pretty terrible. I'm not opposed to trying out commander without tucking, but this is a very abrupt decision that affects a lot of people. Commander can be played with house rules, but not everyone likes having them and plenty of people have multiple play groups. Also, I'm pretty sure that this will turn a few difficult to kill generals into ridiculous game breakers.
