ON December 12th, 2015 Potsdam and Canton, New York hold their #D12 Climate March For The Children in Potsdam, New York to highlight the closing of an unsatisfactory agreement on Climate Change at #COP21 in Paris.
From here this is not the end and they resolve to continue fighting and to take matters into their own hands.
The March highlights that #OURCHILDREN and our futures are #ONTHELINE in the Adirondacks and it is time to give them a fighting chance.
Where the next step globally is? Our biggest boldest counter response yet, the May Mobilization. For now the Adirondacks are building momentum and builds power to transition towards a just and sustainable future, because #OURFUTURE is #ONTHELINE in the Adirondacks and the planet.
Climate Scream for #D12 Our Planet, Ourselves: Plattsburgh, New York’s First March On Climate, Plattsburgh, New York, December 12th 2015. Plattsburgh is #OnTheLine if climate change is not mitigated and lake levels rise towards city limits.
Ginger Storey-Welch of Potsdam, New York and North Country 350 Alliance is an avid cross-country skiier and she is #OnTheLine in Paris at COP 21 because if climate change is not mitigated globally skiiers are #OnTheLine in the Adirondacks and in the future ski and snowboard lodges will be non-existent in the Adirondacks.
That’s why she is asking for a binding agreement with real solutions towards mitigating climate change in Paris this December at #COP21.
(via Plattsburgh rallies for climate change action - Story)
Plattsburgh is #OnTheLine Lake Champlain is an important source and part of the landscape and culture within Plattsburgh, New York’s community. In 2011, severe flooding of Lake Champlain became eminent due to continued accumulation of precipitation during the spring and residents, properties, businesses, families, institutions and more groups became inundated with a local and regional crisis, homes were flooded and properties were destroyed. This was not the first of serious weather events, in successive years storms like these have seemed to increase and if not directly a result of climate change it is a narrative that speaks to the dangers of climate change and what lies ahead for #OurFuture. On December 12th, 2015, at 11 AM dozens of people flooded downtown Plattsburgh to raise their voices in response to the final decision in Paris on the new treaty on Climate Change signed by UNFCC Delegates worldwide. The final chant in the march rang out that “Our Future, Our Families, Our Planet are #OnTheLine” to bring home that the Adirondacks, the North Country, and our entire livelihood of surviving is #OnTheLine in Paris and that we must continue on fighting to transition to our collective sustainable future locally, regionally and globally.
80-100 participants joined hands together and prominent speakers from various backgrounds presented their thoughts from mothers who are #OutFront #MOF, local politicians, climate leaders and youth who are concerned about the future of the Adirondacks and our planet.
Thank you all for making our voices heard in paris and throughout the planet.
These participants and local leaders agreed to focus on what is next and the next step is this Monday 12/14/2015 at 30 City Hall Place at 6:00 PM in collaboration with Representative District 21 Candidate Mike Derrick at his Meet and Greet. Participants, if you are reading this you are also invited to join this event, are meeting this Monday to discuss what is next in our follow-up to the decisions in Paris #COP21. There is much to be done, but one thing is sure, the Paris Accord on Climate Change falls far from close to what we need as a binding deal on climate change, it is up to the grassroots movement, the people, us, to make the change we wish to see in the world. Our response is required.
Internationally this campaign is known as the #RoadTHROUGHParis because 12/12 was not the final response or step in the movement. Internationally and locally groups are building momentum to our biggest, boldest and most important escalation event yet in the history of the movement this May. There are some details known, but it will be a mass mobilization and it will be our boldest and biggest. As internationally we prepare for these dates, citizens across the Adirondacks who are still #OnTheLine hold strong and begin planning what can be done in the next weeks and months to build our movement stronger, larger and better than it ever was before.
This is not the end but merely the next step in the journey.
Onwards together,

#SaranacLake is #OnTheLine at Paris COP 21 this week. Over 90 participants converged in Saranac Lake, New York this past weekend in an emergency march to urge UN Delegates to come towards a binding and real deal on climate urgently and nervously awaiting the decisions that will be coming out of Paris this December. The Adriondacks are #OnTheLine today. Organizations from all over the Adirondacks are organizing to have our voices heard. Will you have your voice heard? #EarthtoParis Please submit your photos to ADKOnTheLine and help build an action or event in your area to show UN Delegates that your #life is #OnTheLine. Let’s get a binding and real deal with real solutions to climate change at #COP21 these next two weeks.
Memorial Field is #OnTheLine if #COP21 is not successful.
Persistent flooding on Memorial Field is #OnTheLine if UN climate talks in Paris aren't successful next week. It's a small part of the big picture. Climate Change will affect communities in different ways, some more than others. FEMA provided a flood plain map of Memorial Field.

A Hurricane Irene Story from Keene, NY
"Now, 4+ years later, we continue rebuilding. We are building bridges higher, and wider. We know how to handle streams better. Some homes are gone, but there are still some in the flood plain. I worry about next time. Irene dumped roughly 12 inches of rain in about 8 hours. Today in the news there are fairly frequent stories about 20+ inches of rain! Long Island, Florida, South Carolina….they’re not rare any more.
So how will our bigger new bridges do with 20+ inches of rain? And how would Keene Valley, Keene, Upper Jay and beyond be impacted.?
We’re better prepared than we were, for sure. But the stress of going through that again will be enormous.”
-- Dave, Keen, NY
