“ did i say that ? ” cup lifted as she leaned back in her seat. “ or was i simply making a joke ? ” something clearly not done often, or well, if the non - reaction was anything to go by. perhaps she would leave that to the others in her life, it seemed to be little more than a waste of breath. gaze followed yujin's, narrowing incrementally as she watched the baristas behind the counter. “ they're usually competent enough. i can't imagine it will take much longer. ” was surgeon the best customer? no, that wasn't a title she would ever hold. too few smiles, too many orders bitten out while on the phone, but her order was reliable and she made up for lack of benevolence in a monetary fashion.
his shoulders shook when he laughed. it was fun winning over people, some enough to cross their self-imposed lines and end up back at his place, but being on set became twice as enjoyable when they found people cut from a similar cloth. ❝ that's unacceptable. ❞ waiting around his least favorite part of acting. reaching out, he playfully twirled a strand of her hair. ❝ feels a touch too close to method acting if i'm your hero on and off screen but for you, i'll bend my rules. ❞
“ isn't it ? ” agreeance finding her easily. time didn't seem to want to flow in her favour and she would rather do anything than to sit around wanting to crawl out of her skin. not that what she was doing was entirely different in the sense, but at the very least, now she had something pretty in her sights. peering up through painted lashes, she let her gaze linger on his features, pout that had once been present shifting into something playful as lips curved upwards. “ just for me ? ” manicured hand resting on the skin just beneath her collar bone. “ how valiant of you. ”
feverish grin spreads like wildfire across glossed lips, hands lifting to grab at air as cravings are quick to takeover. a good girls' night in was what she'd needed for the longest time, an evening just the two of them to be as tame or as silly as they wanted to be away from all the flashing cameras. warm eyes follow friend, nodding in agreement as she spoke. " that sounds like the perfect night in — or at least the start of it. "

head turned, gaze shifting to look her friend over, not without scrutiny before tongue met the roof of her mouth and back of her teeth, audible tsk perforating the air. “ if it isn’t the consequences of your own actions. ” the normal cool rasp of her voice holding a playful note for sasha as she leaned forward, grabbing a second mug of coffee off the table and handing it to her. “ why don’t you tell me what you can stomach and we can go from there ? ”
she was wondering if she going to soho house was a good idea, considering she needed to be awake before the birds tomorrow morning, but she seems to be quite satisfied with whom she's been spending her time at the soho house with. that only means she has no regrets, even if she will sleep for less than six hours. “ you could. ” she simply agrees, as a devilish grin appears on her lips. “ i guess next time we should coordinate arrivals. ” mila teases back as she gets more comfortable in her seat. she's about to take another sip when she hears his assumptions, which only cause her to burst into laughter. “ now, i do love me some sabrina and taylor. ” she nods, but this teasing smile is still smeared on her lips. “ but that's definitely not what i would pick. ” she shakes her head slightly. “ do you really find me that basic, baxter ? ”
“ now that would be a smart idea. ” olympian never had a problem spending time alone, but if there was an option to spend time with the likes of friends, he would choose the latter in a heartbeat. swirling of the ice cube in the glass of amber liquid paused upon the laughter that filled the space, a better reaction than one she could have gave at the clearly incorrect guess. “ what ? ” teeth digging into the swell of his lower lip before sheepish smile forced him to release it, dark hues watching the amusement lighting up her features. “ i never said basic. ” playfully pointed out to save himself from such an accusation. “ you just have that whole blonde hair , bubbly thing going on. ” statement ending with a drink before he cleared his throat. “ so what would you choose then ? ”

“ are you trying to say you're screening my calls now? careful, your coworkers may think i'm actually your ex-fiance, ” affection seeped from words, lips only turning downwards at the mention of former paramour. caffeinated treat traded hands and the free one slid into his jacket pocket, the feel of ease crawling up his spine as tense muscles relaxed. “ wow, how fortunate i am to have a friend so readily available. the usual spot? really make it feel like when you moved to new york. ”
shoulders lifted in a shrug before she took another drink of her prized possession of the moment. he really did know the one thing that would win her affections, and perhaps in another timeline . . . “ they wouldn't be entirely wrong in their assumptions. ” though the ending of both relationships couldn't have been more different if they tried. “ how fortunate you have a friend that will prioritize spending time with you over going home to sleep. ” something she would get around to eventually. “ you really want to take a trip down memory lane today ? ” lips curving into something resembling a smile. “ let me grab my bag and we can go. ”
the way her friend's eyes lit up at the mere mention of boyfriend gave cecilia a sense of accomplishment and she only remembered to pretend to be offended after a moment. “ breaking my heart. it's fine, i'll survive this devastation that not even i can wrangle you away. ” a step closer and she moved to link their arms together. “ i was praying you'd say that. i love a good fashion moment but i'm ready to feel like a normal person and not someone out of the odyssey. ” a few steps away from the bustling party and the need to fill empty silence leaving her skin crawling. “ okay, what have i missed? i feel like i haven't seen you in ages! ” reality, it had been about three days since the two had spent time together but the dramatics came out in full swing.
“ you know you're my soulmate , don't even start with me. ” effervescence unmistakable in her tone as arms linked together. “ my life would be nothing without you , but in the utmost platonic way. ” words teased as heels clipped against the floor, minor ache present in her soles. she really shouldn't have waited until the day prior to try to break them in. “ normal would be so good. ” something that could be had for a moment in time until after party prep began, thankfully nothing as elaborate as the feathers hugging her frame. giggle slipped and eyes rolled playfully. “ well , i managed not to trip on the steps. ” thank god. “ and i got a beautiful bouquet of flowers while i was getting ready. ” smile beaming as she looked at her friend. “ what are your big accolades for the last seventy two hours ? ”
“ i'll book it, but i only have a couple of hours. ” a space with cucumber waters and soothing music for a couple of hours enough to rejuvenate and not bore — or make it feel as though she was just sitting around being unproductive. “ or we can go tomorrow. i have an appointment in the morning, but nothing after. ”
“ while i would love to have you for the entire day , i think i can survive with a few hours. ” no stranger to how busy chiara kept herself, she would be grateful with whatever time they could spend together unwinding after the excitement of the last few weeks. “ i feel like an overgrown tree with how many knots are in my shoulders. i don't know how you manage on a regular. ”

glancing up from the script, he smiled at the person entering. ❝ hey, i thought there was still twenty minutes until we needed on set. ❞ normally he wasn't the best at keeping track of time, mind wandering and prone to distraction, but if further marks against him began circulating while the former ones still lingered then the project that could be his career's savior might be its doom.
“ there is and i’m bored. ” subtle pout and dark gaze turned towards them. she never had been well adept at the whole waiting around thing, and now that she was done with hair and makeup she needed something else to occupy her time. “ save me , kieran , save me. ” dramatic sigh falling into the space between before she gracefully dropped to the couch. scarlett may have never been a professional but once a dancer . . .

“ your loss. ” teasing lilt accompanying the cocktail pick pointed at him, shoulders lifting in a small shrug. “ it’s going good. ” for the most part, at least, but that was the only half truth she was willing to share. it was the largest by far she had worked on as an actress, nevermind lead, but thankfully she wasn’t a complete stranger to busy sets or catty behaviour. scarlett polished off the remnants of her drink before shifting from where she leaned against the window, swirling the partially melted ice within the glass. “ and how have you been doing ? ”
“ ugh, i will never understand how she does it. everything chi puts together is perfect, ” cecilia agreed, mind immediately going to the designer in question. smile brightening on her face at rosa's words, handing waving dismissively. “ stop, you'll make me blush and then i really will steal you away from matty. ” her knowing no bounds with the amount of teasing she would give her female friends about adoring them. “ is this the part of the evening where we can sneak away to the after party? because i need a drink and some food in my system or i may perish before your very eyes. ”
“ a literal fashion icon. ” while rosa would always prefer to wear something made from the designer herself, she understood that she couldn’t always wear a custom chiara matarazzo design and was more than happy just to have her expertise on her side. dulcet sound of laughter bubbled from her lips, own skin flushing at the mention of matthieu. “ i love you endlessly , but i don’t think that’s possible , even for you. ” smile mildly flustered before she let her attention fall to their surroundings. the crucial events of the evening were coming to an end and the brunette cleared the bashfulness from her voice while giving cece a nod. “ i haven’t managed to eat anything since this morning , i’m famished. ” no fault to anything but nerves.

“ how very bold of you to assume that it’s not intentional. ” while words held their naturally cool tone, her face betrayed something warmer, the beginnings of a smile rising to the surface. “ an appointment would be helpful … ” musing as she accepted the coffee, a sip taken for quality assurance. “ lucky for you i may have some time free. ”
risa stepped inside, flashing him a smile in thanks, and then fell into step with him. could always count on him to pick a place that aligned with her desired vibe; nothing too fancy needed for a lunch between friends, only good food and good company — the latter guaranteed. ❝ i might've already gotten annoyed at a few slow walkers but yeah, it's good to be back. ❞ away from the comparative silence of germany. prolonged exposure allowed thoughts she'd prefer not dwelling on to try arising, hand gravitating toward the bottle when distraction failed.
