Timewraps EP introduces a non-compromised touch with the most exploratory and specifically rich electronic music era — influences of Detroit techno, IEM, artificial intelligence and also dreamy, dark, sometimes pretty restless sounds. Five different tracks bring their five own stories which slowly reveal their core, be it in terms of rhythm, melody or mood, and brings us the creator's excitement running through beats, dandy melodic chords, tuned bongos or a hypnotized drive. Torulsson didn't have much need to conform to any hyped up or just plain popular style at this moment, he rather welcomed the inspiration and form from the rich electronic music legacy and took of from there.

Excess of Dimensions

The venue of the Dimensions festival is an abandoned 18th century fort Punta Cristo near Pula, Croatia. The fort is located in a beautiful coastal area surrounded by beaches, crystal clear water, picturesque countryside, and, last but not least, nice and helpful locals. Dimensions is a younger sister festival of very successful Outlook bass music festival, while focusing on the deeper genres of electronic dance music, especially underground techno and house. This year the festival began with a spectacular opening concert with a great live performance from Bonobo at the Pula Arena (the Roman amphitheatre in Pula) who showed us only a piece of what was to be seen and heard during the following four days at the fort.

Dimensions delivered a truly massive line-up and performances of some of the most renowned and promising artists like Model 500, Tony Allen, Gilles Peterson, Theo Parish, Moodyman and Derrick May, just to name a few. The magical venue along with the massive sound system helped create an excellent vibe throughout the duration of the festival. We should also mention the exquisite boat parties during the day, marked by superb performances of festival headliners.

On Thursday, Day 1 of the festival it all began on two beach floors with non-stop music and numerous boat parties heading out to the sea every couple of hours. And what a start that was. Besides the opening concert in the arena, the Festival also provided for a boiler room full of Chicago-Detroit house rhythms, as well as happy and joyful souls. Due to the attractive line-up it was extremely hard to see and hear all the DJs and live acts on our to-do list; Model 500, Dave Clarke & Derrick May were playing on the main floor in front of the fort, Move D, Prosummer & Dixon performed on the first stage within the fort, or should we board a boat to join a music boat trip with Ben Ufo, Kareen & Pearson. Definitely a difficult choice for day one, but it wasn’t any easier during the next few days. However, no matter what our choice was, it didn’t really matter, because all artists offered their best.

Each and every floor offered a unique vibe. This especially refers to those smaller floors packed with a wide range of musical surprises. In the claustrophobic scary dungeon for example, the Slovenian artists Schrauff and Dulasch der DJ, and Mungo surprised the crowd with a unique d’n’b all-nighter, while the list of similar surprises could go on and on.

In the four days of our visit we had the great opportunity to experience the Dimensions in all its fame and glory, and we are happy to report that our expectations were definitely exceeded; a brilliant line-up, excellent sound system, spectacular location and an awesome crowd made this festival one of the craziest and most enjoyable festivals in this part of Europe ever. Can’t wait to see, what awaits us in 2014.

30.08.13 - Robotix Sounds @ 5DIMENSIONS, open air festival. Robotix Sounds is DJ and production partnership between Alja Knez (https://soundcloud.com/laylae) and Gregor Krpic - Grki, who are into deeply moving, emotional electronic music. Together they share a sonic vision that pulls together elements of minimal and deep tech with influences from techno and house music. While Alja's productions are recognisable as 711 (www.snd.sc/151qXWl), Gregor puts his focus on creating raw beats and sythesized loops. Currently performing in underground clubs in Berlin they have grown up throwing secret loft parties named ‘RXS’ in their hometown of Ljubljana. At present they are based in an inspirational frontier, which has given them opportunities to build relationships with fellow musicians who share their unique musical taste.
