More gear than we thought!!

Today was a cleaning day. We went through the large tubs that would be sitting in a garage (if we had one) waiting to be donated. This included old textbooks, papers, and many other remenants of the four-year experience typical of our generation. Hidden in the tubs was more gear that we had been holding on to, hoping for the day that it might get dug out and used. Adding to our camping collection, we have gathered the following: -headlamp -dry bags -charcoal -camping hammock -twine -harmonica -AM/FM radio These have all been packed into a designated "camping gear" wating to be thrown in the car at a moments notice. Our camping weekend awaits! I cannot wait to see what we need and what is just extra weight.

Heart Bar San Bernardino forest, Ca 

Ahh. The rejuvinating feeling of ice cold noses pressing against your cheek in the morning can truly wake one up! Fortunately for us the mountainsides provided good incentive, and a calm morning hike was a great reward. We went walked towards the East side of the valley behind layers of pines and dusty paths, lay a beautiful meadow. As the man called it "the entire valley bursting with life all on account of one tiny stream." Seriously, this stream was tiny, but thick, tall grasses covered the valley floor for acres. We noted one medium-sized paw print in the sand near the creek, perhaps a bear or mountain lion, but we did not catch sight of any wildlife. The pup enjoyed the meadow the most: her little heart practically leaped outside of her chest resulting in minutes of strenuous bounds and jumps. 

Please note that we agreed to this camping trip prior to committing ourselves to #alifeincredulous. My parents had recently bought a pop-up trailer, and invited the man, the wolf, and i, as well as my brothers to a camping trip. It was a pretty lavish camping trip, and we begin our journey far from prepared. However, we aim to eradicate what narrowness Emerson was confined by, for we know the damage done by a soul left unnourished. So here's to #alifeincredulous, may all be welcomed.

Heart Bar - Sugarloaf, CA: The Starting Line

A humble way to start our adventure, to be sure. Having both come from the mountains, a well-equipped campground and family waiting for us made the trip much more of a vacation than a challenge. It was a beautiful site situated right along Highway 38 not far from Big Bear, CA. Not even the drought could mute the beauty of the fresh green pines and tall green grasses that littered the meadow. I was shocked to take in the splendor that remains hidden in my own backyard. The man was in his element amongst the tall pines while the pup thoroughly enjoyed the largest park she had ever visited in her short one-year life. 

Southern California has been holding out on us. We are stuck in the middle of Metropolis with a passion for wandering. Concrete grids and manicured green squares can only simulate nature for so long. This weekend we return to the same campground, barely one-hours' drive from us, to wander in Aspens on the Wild Horse Trail. 

This marks the start of a life-style change, and we have created this to document our experiences, challenges, and changes that have come as a result of seeking nature while still residing in civilization. We work normal jobs full-time in order to earn these experiences.

The man has some camping gear, an Osprey Kestrel 38, a Jetboil, a Kelley 2 Person tent, sleeping bag, and z-rest. On the other hand, the wolf and I have no equipment. Over the next few months we will be saving money a number of different ways in order to buy most of the gear we will need to attempt multi-night backpacking trips. We will be reviewing our product choices, as well as evaluating locations, hikes, tips and tricks, and any beneficial information we gain in this endeavor. 

We do not know when this adventure will end, more likely than not it wont, and we will become accustomed to seeking out natural adventures. This is our life incredulous.
