guys the whole point of the drk questline (especially the 80 capstone) is that fray is wrong. the people you help do matter. the people you save are important. their gratitude isn't the point. the wol does the things they do for the right reasons - fray on the other hand represents the darkest parts of you, your doubts and fears, your worry that none of this matters, and in the end fray is proved wrong. that's the whole reason the quests are so good!! I can't stand ppl who somehow missed this

the fact that the dark knight class in final fantasy is gatekept behind like a hundred hours of jrpg storyline makes seeing new players so funny sometimes like “omg i’m just a fresh new adventurer can’t wait to grow up and unlock the class that lets me be evil”

And then Dark Knight turns out to not be evil at all, but an examination of what it means to be a hero and the toll that takes on one’s psyche and also a healthy dose of “we watch the watchers” by handling church corruption and where Moogles reveal in a song and dance number that the core tenet of the job is Love and honestly it really is a Crime that DRK (and I guess MCH and AST) are locked behind the ARR patch content but then again only unlocking DRK after the ARR finale and what happens in Ul’dah makes a heck of a lot of sense.

The sprouts don’t realize it until they get there. And it’s great when they do.
