I knooooow the whole series is a political manifesto wrapped in an allegory but reading it as a story about individuals, katniss is so fucking funny bc she's like "idk if im actually into peeta :/ im so bad at acting like it" and then when she's at school for four years she watches peeta and every time she's frightened she holds onto peeta and whenever she's not sure what to do in a situation she just kisses peeta and whenever she can't articulate her thoughts she wishes for peeta bc she knows he would Get It and when she breaks down and can't perform it's bc the capitol is torturing peeta and when they rescue him from the capitol she goes "omg im gonna get to kiss peeta" and then as soon as she's not being forced to marry peeta she goes and does what? marries peeta. like girl okay.....

thinking about haymitch watching peeta pick the nightlock berries and not being able to do anything about it. watching from the other side of a screen, hoping he didn’t choose to eat any before katniss got back. trying to figure out if it would even be possible to warn him somehow, wondering if he’d be able to convince anyone to sponsor a parachute to protect one half of their starcrossed lovers from district 12 (if he could get it past the gamemakers in the first place).

waiting for katniss to get back, hoping she would recognize the berries for what they were and not eat them too. hoping he wouldn’t have to helplessly watch as his two tributes died so similarly to how his girl did.

the dread he would’ve been feeling thinking he was about to lose them both when he’d just allowed himself to start hoping again, to start caring about them. when he’d just started imagining a world with two winners, a world where he was actually able to save his tributes for once — the boy with the bread and burdock everdeen’s little girl. a world where he finally did it right. but now it could all be taken away with a handful of berries in a twisted play on his own worst memory.

Tamlin's trauma may explain his pain and fear, but it can never excuse the tyrant he became. It did not grant him the right to let his rage manifest as destruction, to treat Feyre as a possession to be controlled rather than a person, or to blame others for his own failures. His trauma may explain his choices, but it can never erase the consequences of the terrible pain he willfully inflicted.

Let this be clear: trauma is not a license for cruelty. It does not grant anyone the right to disregard others, try to control them, exploit their kindness, or abuse their trust.

His trauma may explain his struggles, but it will never excuse his harmful and abusive actions toward Feyre, Lucien, and his entire court. His trauma is not a shield against accountability. He is responsible for the pain he caused, and no past hurt justifies treating others as collateral damage for his own anger.

Please stop blaming Feyre and Rhysand for Tamlin's own actions and for the consequences he faced. To do so is to ignore the simple truth that Tamlin possessed free will, and he exercised it in ways that caused profound harm.

Now, some stans will come and claim that Feyre and Rhysand orchestrated everything that happened, or even that Tamlin was somehow mind-controlled LOL. These arguments are truly and willfully ignorant of what is canonically written in the books.

The text is clear that Tamlin's actions were his own. He made choices to lock Feyre up and abuse her, to explode in violent rages to the point it made others afraid to speak up, to execute the sentries, to ally himself with Hybern. These were conscious decisions made with his own free will, explicitly detailed from Feyre's perspective. To claim otherwise is to ignore the actual narrative in favor of a fabricated one that absolves him of responsibility he actively earned.

I love that Katniss just walked out after that comment. After everything her and Haymitch have been through together, if he's not going to respect her, she's not going to talk to him.

when some people say peeta and katniss are only together because they trauma bonded it makes me so mad because first of all katniss already had a massive crush on him even pre-games she's like "oh he's so strong and nice and selfless it's highly suspicious he's just so perfect"

and of course peeta and katniss can understand each other in a way gale would never be able to because of the games, but the games actually did more to mess up their relationship than move it along (see exhibit A: katniss not wanting to let herself love peeta because the capitol took away her ability to choose him for herself)

but more than that, gale doesn't appreciate/value human life as much as peeta does, so peeta can offer more comfort in the guilt katniss feels after the games and the revolution because he gets it more than gale would

obviously the experience in the hunger games connected them in a deep and important way, but it's in no way the only reason they're together, katniss even talks about that on the last page of the last chapter, "this was always going to happen". it's not just the games or trauma that attached them, it's them as individuals and the way they foil each other and just LOVE EACH OTHER
