hi, i am new to writing on tumblr (i started writing on wattpad) so i do apologize if there’s any mistakes!
i am also bilingual (my native language is Spanish) and i am the daughter of immigrant parents so if you support the current President and his administration, this is not the place for you!!
i remember you said that Sidney isn't the first hockey player that was involved in vivien's life ummmm SAY MORE RIGHT NOW
Honey, you got a big storm coming 😀 buckle up kids cause this one is a fun one! (sarcasm intended)
Btw this isn’t like someone on the actual NHL roster, he’s an oc 😝 I’m going to share this without spoiling too much because most of the lore here will be in sid and viv’s book on wattpad.
Okay so Vivien did theater in high school and she would always audition for parts in the school plays, but she never got any. She usually did costumes or helped with the lights. So eventually her high school is doing a production of little shop of horrors and she auditions for the part of Audrey and gets the role. She’s over the moon about it and then she gets told that Garrett Rutherford (he’s mentioned by name in chapter five of sid and viv’s book on wattpad!) will be playing the role of Seymour.
Garrett is one of the popular kids. He’s nice to everyone, he’s involved in after school activities and Vivien knows he’s into sports. That’s it, she just doesn’t know which one. (Cough hockey cough).
So she’s nervous because there’s a kiss scene in little shop of horrors between Audrey and Seymour. She knew about the kiss scene because when she signed the forms to audition, there was a section in the bottom that basically said if she were to get the part, would she be comfortable doing a kiss scene and she marked yes thinking she wasn’t going to get the part. BUT SHE DOES!!
N e ways! This all happens after she meets Sidney but before she officially starts dating him in april 2004. She and Garrett do rehearsals and all that jazz. March comes and they’re ready to act on stage and when the kids scene comes, Garrett actually kisses her for real. It’s not like the fake awkward kisses where actors place their thumb between their lips. No he went for it and she wasn’t surprised by it, but she was shocked at how soft his lips were 😭 like this girl was gone and she didn’t realize that in that very moment, she had her first official kiss on stage in front of hundreds of people.
So anyways, the play only goes on for a weekend and Vivien graduates and goes to NYU. She completely forgets about Garrett until like 2007 when she attends a game in Pittsburgh during one of her school breaks and she’s in the halls of the arena talking with Geno. It’s hours before the game starts and she’s just catching up with her friend when she hears her name being called and she doesn’t recognize the voice so she turns and sees none other than the guy who gave her her first kiss on stage.
And yes Geno stood there like how do you know my friend Vivien?🤨 like this man was protective and he wasn’t going to let some random man be near Vivien especially when Sidney wasn’t present. That also means that the second he left after Vivien told him it was okay that she knew him, he ran to tell Sidney like ‘dude some guy is hitting on your girlfriend’ even though Garrett just came to say hello to an old friend that he DEFINITELY 😉 DIDN’T 😉HAVE 😉 feelings for when they did a high school play
Will Garrett ‘Vivien’s first kiss’ Rutherford make a comeback in Vivien’s life even though she’s married and has three kids with Sidney? I don’t know but I will tell you that divorce does exist 🤷🏽♀️
I feel like if Sid and Viv ever argue (which I would assume is never since they’re basically the same person) Sid would be the first to apologize. That man is a yearner for his wife can’t convince me otherwise!!
A man who yearns is a man who earns and Sidney is a pro at it.
They do argue, but it’s always resolved. They’re the type of couple that don’t go to bed angry. I do see Sid being the first to apologize. The way Vivien was raised, I see her being a bit stubborn. It’s one of the qualities she hates about herself.
Sid is the type of person that genuinely cannot stand knowing the person he loves is upset with him. Even if he needs time to cool off, he’s not the type to let an argument sit for days. He’s rather have an awkward conversation than spend the night wondering if Vivien is still hurting. The idea that he caused her pain would eat at him far more than whatever they were arguing about in the first place.
I can absolutely picture him quietly walking into the room she’s in and just pouring his heart out and ending it with a simple “I’m sorry” which is something Vivien hardly heard from her own mother. It’s not because he’s surrendering, this man genuinely misses his wife!! He misses her laugh, he misses having her close to him, he misses everything about her and Vivien herself. He doesn’t view apologizing as losing. To him, apologizing is taking care of the relationship.
And Vivien isn’t someone who liked hurting Sidney either. Her instinct is quite the opposite. She needs time and space. She tries to organize her feelings before she says something she’ll regret because that’s how she learned to survive conflict growing up.
Sidney learns to give her that space, but once enough time has passed, he’s almost always the first one to apologize.
Before they had children, Sidney really was the the first person who made her feel completely safe and consistently loved (apart from her dad and older sister). After growing up in a relationship with her mother where affection often felt conditional, Sidney became the one constant in her life. He’s the one good thing she never wants to lose.
So while she’s stubborn at first, once she has time to process everything, she always comes back. She’ll apologize sincerely because the last thing she wants is to let pride damage the healthiest relationship she’s ever had.
One of the biggest differences between Sidney and Vivien is the environment they grew up in. Vivien grew up in a house where her mom would never apologize to her. When any argument with her mother ended, it was simply because they stopped talking about it not because it was resolved. Her mom would wake up the next morning and act as if nothing had happened.
So, without realizing, Vivien picked up some of those habits. When she’s hurt or frustrated, her instinct is to retreat to her room and let time pass.
But she married a yearner husband that’s obsessed with her so she does get emotional the first time she hears him say ‘I’m sorry’ 😔
I'm so excited for that James Norton x ex wife!reader fic. I haven't been able to stop thinking about the idea for the past two days and your writing is just *chefs kiss*
If you do post it will it be on tumblr? Because I am so excited!
ahhhh thank you!! i’ll most likely have it posted on here on monday!! i’m still finishing writing some stuff for it
now that you brought up the odyssey, if Sidney was in odysseus's place he wouldn't have taken ten years to get back to Vivien. that man is making it back home in a week. I know it's impossible but he would find a way
He’s making it back in five days. Matter of fact, he’s not even leaving he’s getting someone else to fight the war for him 😭

NHL draft 2026
Buffalo
Anais was seated in her seat next to some friends that made the trip to Buffalo. She was in the middle of talking with her new friend, Connor, when she felt a tap on her shoulder. She turned and saw last years number one draft pick, Matthew Schaefer.
“Hey Ani,” Matthew brought her in for a hug. Anais stood up to properly hug her friend. “I heard you were here and I just had to come see you. How are you? How’s your family?” He let her go.
“We’re all great. Thanks for asking. How are you? They have you announcing the Islanders pick or what?” Anais questioned.
“Yeah, among other things. How about you? Announcing Pittsburgh’s pick?” Matthew guessed.
“Oh no, I would literally die if I have to get up there. I’ll be watching from here. I just came to support a friend.” Anais nodded.
“Yeah, Gavin’s looking good. It’s insane. I just talked to him a while ago.”
Oh sweet Matthew.
Anais smiled, going along with Matthew. “Yeah, um . . This whole thing is insane. It’s actually my first time attending a draft. It’s crazy.”
Matthew couldn’t believe what his ears heard. “Really? I assumed you attended some in the past.”
Anais shook her head. “Nope. I’m a first timer here.”
“Well I’m happy you’re here. I gotta go, but I’ll try to see you before I leave. Nice talking to you, Ani.” Matthew gave her another hug then walked away. It was impossible to not love him, his energy was infectious.
Anais remained in her seat. She would occasionally talk to Nolan’s friends. Nolan Wells had the opportunity to play hockey thanks to Sidney Crosby’s Little Penguins program. He was a Pittsburgh native and attended the same school as Anais and Ophelia. Nolan and Anais never interacted until her senior year in high school. Nolan was already in a different state pursuing hockey, but came back to Pittsburgh to see his friends graduate. In the halls of their high school, they bumped into each other. Anais knew he was eligible for the 2026 NHL draft.
One thing led to another and soon Nolan was inviting Anais to the draft. She said yes. The boy wasn’t sure if he’d even get drafted, he crossed his fingers that he did because imagine inviting a pretty girl to your draft and you don’t even get selected!
And now here she was supporting Nolan with his friends who quickly became friends with Anais. Nolan wasn’t the only one Anais came to support though. Before the draft could even start, she got a message from Wyatt Cullen, who also knew she was coming, telling her that his parents wanted to see her. So she excused herself and made her way through the sea of people. Wyatt was going to be waiting for her by the entrance that lead to the area where all the prospects and family were sitting.
Anais spotted Wyatt patiently waiting and before she could reach him, a voice stopped her. She turned around and saw Gavin with his phone in his hand. It looked like he was talking on it, maybe getting back to people who were congratulating him on the draft even though he hadn’t been selected. It was obvious to everyone that Gavin McKenna was going to be first over all.
“Gavin,” Anais said, almost as if she was surprised to even see him here. She mentally cursed herself. Of course he’s here, idiot. It’s the draft!
“Hey, you’re here with your family?” He asked.
“No, I’m just here to support a friend . . friends,” She corrected herself. “Good luck. I’m not it’s not like you need it, but still.”
“I’ll take that. I haven’t been this nervous since I met you.”
Anais’ eyes widened a little. How was she supposed to respond to that? She was quite literally speechless. She did open her mouth to say something, but she just couldn’t. So she did what she does best and ended the conversation by saying “bye!” before speed walking away towards Wyatt. “Start walking now.” Anais said as she pushed Wyatt towards the designated area.
“Dude, I was looking for you everywhere.” Wyatt said as he walked with Anais to where his family was.
“I literally saw you just standing there.”
“I was scanning the crowd. It’s not my fault you’re short.” Wyatt teased.
“You’re like six foot something, everyone is short to you.” Anais fought back. “You’re annoying, but I do miss this. Can’t believe you’re getting drafted now.”
“Miss you too, Ani.” Wyatt replied.
Anais and Wyatt had started their friendship when his dad, Matt Cullen, joined the Penguins in 2015. They were close in age so often times they would have be seen together at games, parks or just having sleepovers at each other’s houses.
Eventually they made it to the Cullen family where Wyatt’s mom, Bridget, was the first to engulf the girl into a tight hug. She couldn’t remember the last time they saw each other.
“How are you? You look so gorgeous.” Bridget kissed her cheek then released her from the hug.
“I’m great. You look gorgeous as well,” Anais then saw the man that played alongside her dad. “Dad is going to be jealous that I saw you again and he didn’t.” She laughed as Matt brought her in for a hug.
“The old man is probably sipping margaritas with Viv somewhere,” Matt laughed. “Hi, Ani. Having fun?”
“Yeah, it’s a lot, but it’s fun. Do you know who’s announcing Pittsburgh pick?” She wondered.
Matt shook his head. “Don’t know anything, maybe the commissioner?”
“I vote we send Ani to announce!” Wyatt said, but got a light smack on the shoulder from Anais.
“Don’t speak that into existence, Wyatt. I would rather die.”
—
Soon, then draft started. Anais was back in her seat in the stands while the Cullen family stayed in the couches for the prospects and family. Wyatt did offer Anais to stay with them, but she declined. She had friends waiting back for her in the stands.
Like everyone predicted, Gavin McKenna went first overall. Justin Bieber had true honor of announcing the pick. Anais thought it was . . . unique. It was definitely different from what she was used to seeing on TV. Her phone buzzed in her hand. She looked at her screen to see a text from Wyatt.
Wyatt: still can’t believe you dated him
Anais playfully rolled her eyes and typed back a message.
Anais: we did not date
Anais: I think
Wyatt: You think? What’s that mean?
Anais: It means I hope you get drafted by the flyers or something
Wyatt: I hope Kyle Dubas makes you get on the stage and announce the penguins’ pick
Anais: literally shut up I hate you
Anais: good luck!
Wyatt: thanks ❤️
Anais kept her phone on her lap for the rest of the draft. She watched as Gavin was taking pictures with both the commissioner and Justin Bieber, the Sharks were building a promising team and she even got to watch her childhood friend, Wyatt, get drafted by the Nashville Predators. Immediately after Wyatt got drafted by Nashville, Anais sent a message to Ophelia.
Anais: Wyatt is going to Nashville. He’s going to be playing with your man
Ophelia: I guess I have an excuse to attend predator games 😛 thank you wyatt!!!🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
—
Anais wanted to fight Wyatt Cullen. She was positive he had a play in her current situation. It was during the pick for the Washington Capitals that Kyle Dubas had sent her a message asking her if she wanted to announce the pick for the Pittsburgh Penguins. She took the message as ‘you HAVE to’ so now here she was waiting backstage for Gary Bettman to introduce her.
She held the card with Pittsburgh’s draft pick in her hands. Her palms were a bit sweaty and she kept looking at the words making sure they weren’t going to change up on her. She recited them in her head.
“You’re going to do great. Don’t be nervous!” A hand, belonging to Laila Edwards, touched her shoulder to comfort the nervous girl. Laila gave her a thumbs up as she walked away in a hurry.
“Thank you!” Anais waved at her. Fuck, it’s easier said than done.
“Making the selection for Pittsburgh Penguins here’s someone that comes from a family that knows a thing or two about winning, Anais Crosby.” Gary Bettman said into the microphone.
Anais didn’t text Wyatt, or anyone actually, that Kyle Dubas wanted her to announce the draft pick. As the teenage girl walked towards the microphone with the card in hand, she could see Wyatt’s shocked face from the stage. His mom was taking photos as if Anais herself was drafted.
On the SoortsNet broadcast, Colby Armstrong gasped when he saw the girl. “Ani! Oh god, she’s gotten so much taller now.” He gushed. Even though he wasn’t playing for Pittsburgh when she arrived, he was still around her.
On the stage, Anais thanked Gary Bettman for the introduction and prepared herself to announce the draft pick. “Firstly, the Pittsburgh Penguins would like to thank their wonderful fans at home watching and the ones here tonight,” she knew some Penguins fans were in the building. They cheered for their team when she mentioned that. She then started reading from the card. “And with the twenty second pick in the two thousand twenty six nhl draft, the Pittsburgh Penguins select from Medicine Hat of the whl, Liam Ruck.” She finished off.
Immediately applause erupted for the new member of the Pittsburgh Penguins. Anais watched as Liam hugged his twin brother, Markus, first. She stood next to Gary, applauding for him.
“And I am done for the day. That’s was the most nervous I’ve ever been.” She said to Gary.
“You did well, Anais.” Gary complimented.
She waited for Liam, who was handing off his suit jacket so he could put on a Penguins sweater and hat. Liam joined Anais and Gary on the stage. First, he shook hands with the commissioner and after a few words with him, the younger Ruck twin made his way to Anais.
“Congratulations. Welcome to Pittsburgh.” She smiled warmly at him. She gladly shook his hand.
“Thank you.” He replied.
Gary and Anais waited for Liam as he took the jersey and hat and slipped them on. When he finally had his items on, pictures were taken. After pictures, Liam was off the deal with the media. Anais and Gary walked off stage.
Immediately after getting off the stage, Anais let out a deep breath. “I am never doing that again.” Little did she know that an NHL camera had picked it up and her moment was going to be used in a video showing fans backstage access into the draft.
—
The 2026 draft had come to a close. Nolan ended up being selected by the Flyers after a trade with the San Jose Sharks. Anais met up with him and his family. He was still in his Flyers jersey and hat.
“Still want to be friends?” Nolan teased when he saw Anais.
She looked him up and down. “I don’t know. I’ll think about it.” She teased. Still, she brought him in for a hug. “Congratulations, Nolan. I am happy for you even though you’re in enemy territory.”
Nolan laughed. “Yeah. It’s going to be hard for my folks to go from Penguins to Flyers too. But will I still see you when they play against each other?”
“Maybe.”
Nolan released her from the hug. “I’ll take that.”
She was saying goodbye to Nolan and his family, she walked outside of the arena. It was emptying out quickly. She ordered an Uber and waited patiently on a bench for her ride. Anais sent a quick text to her mom saying she was on her way back to her hotel room when she heard her name being called again.
Gavin.
She turned around and saw him run up to her. He had abandoned the Maple Leafs sweater and hat. He stood before her not knowing if she would allow him to sit next to her on the bench.
“You can sit. I’m not going to make you leave.” Anais nodded towards the empty seat.
Gavin mumbled a ‘thanks’ and sat next to her. For a moment, the teenagers sat in silence. The only source of noise was the traffic and fans celebrating the newest members of their teams. Gavin was the first to speak.
“I saw you on the stage. You did really good,” he said. “You’re a natural.”
“Yeah, well I was panicking on the inside. What a way to end my first draft night.” Anais lightly laughed.
Gavin nodded. He looked around. Was he making things awkward between them? He couldn’t tell. He didn’t want that. He remembered their conversation from hours ago where Anais walked away from.
“I’m sorry if I made you uncomfortable earlier. It was a dick move.” Gavin said.
Anais finally turned to look at him. “I wasn’t uncomfortable. I was more like surprised.” She replied.
“Still, I’m sorry.” He repeated.
Before either of them could say anything else, Anais’ Uber approached them. The girl stood up and dusted off her skirt. Gavin also stood up. “I appreciate it. I think the next time I’ll see you, you’ll be on TV. Congrats, mr, Maple Leaf.”
Gavin laughed at the new nickname. “Thanks, Anais.”
She walked to the car and opened the backseat door. Before she got in, she looked at Gavin one last time. “You can call me Ani, by the way. My friends call me Ani.”
Gavin smiled wide when he heard her words. He recalled the time when she denied his choice to call her Ani, her childhood nickname that she gave permission to specific people in her life.

May 2026
Minnesota
Ophelia and Nate were at the hotel pool in Minnesota. She joined Nate and the rest of the Avalanche team on the road for the playoffs while Vivien stayed in Pittsburgh to rest with Finn after doing press for her new show in April. Anais had joined Sidney in Switzerland.
She watched Nate from her chair as he swam laps. Ophelia found it funny that he put on goggles and flippers. She went back to playing Candy Crush on her phone. She recently downloaded the app after watching her mom play it non stop for months. Ophelia forgot how addictive the game was.
Nate swam to the side closest to her. “You don’t want to come in?” He asked.
Ophelia picked up her head to look at him. “Uh. . .” She looked down at her phone to see that she was out of lives. “Eh. I was gonna lose anyways.” She placed her phone on the table and shook off her sandals.
Ophelia walked to the edge and sat on the concrete, sticking her legs into the cold water. Nate took a break from swimming laps and started to float on his back. “What are you doing after this?” She asked.
“First, take a shower.” Nate replied.
“Apart from the obvious.” Ophelia clarified.
“I got practice later. You can come watch. Or do you need me to take you somewhere?”
That was the thing about Nate. If Ophelia or Anais needed something, he didn’t hesitate to help in any way he could. The girls were extremely grateful to have someone like him in their lives.
Ophelia shook her head. “No, I was just wondering,” she moved her legs in the water. They remained in a comfortable silence until Ophelia spoke up again. “If I ask you something, will you promise not to laugh at me?”
Her tone made Nate stand up properly in the water. “Phee, I would never laugh at your questions. Well I have, but only because you laughed too.” He chuckled. “But you know I would never.”
Ophelia nodded. “Wanna play mermaids?” She asked shyly. It was rare to see her like that.
“Mermaids?” Nate repeated.
“Yeah. Anais and I always played mermaids. I always had a purple tail and she had the red tail with glitter.” Ophelia explained.
“Sure.” Nate shrugged. There was no harm in playing mermaids.
So Ophelia stood up from her spot. “Cool. My tail is purple, what’s yours?”
“Uh. . Blue.” He said unsure if he was playing correctly. Was there a proper way to play mermaids? Nate wasn’t sure. He never played mermaids in pools before.
“Okay,” Ophelia backed away from the pool making Nate confused. Did she not want to play anymore? His question was quickly answered when she ran towards the pool at full speed landing in the cool water. Nate immediately got splashed though he didn’t mind one bit. When Ophelia emerged from the water, she spat out some water that she accidentally got in her mouth. “Oh my god! This water is cold as hell!”
“That doesn’t make sense.” Nate said.
“You don’t make sense,” Ophelia started swimming around him. “Can i borrow your flippers and goggles?”
Eventually Nate realized there was no right or wrong way to play mermaids. He raced against Ophelia , did water trick/ that consisted of him trying his best to do them like a mermaid (Ophelia’s words exactly). He was having the time of his life imagining that he was some sort of mythical sea creature.
“Wanna see me do a handstand?” Ophelia didn’t wait for Nate to respond. She took a deep breath and went back down to the water and attempted to perform a handstand. She failed, but Nate still applauded her for the effort.
It was then that Nate realized they had spent hours playing in the pool. He swam to the pool steps and got out. Ophelia remained in the water.
“Phee, we gotta go back to the rooms. It’s late.” Nate walked to the table with his and Ophelia’s belongings.
“What? No! Five more minutes,” she whined as she swam around the pool. Nate gave her a warning look. “Three minutes!” She pleaded.
“We’ll come back another day.” Nate said. He grabbed his towel and started to dry his body.
“Two minutes!” She begged, but he shook his head.
“I can’t be late to practice, Phee. We can come back soon. You still need to shower, I do too.” Nate reminded her that he still had afternoon practice.
“Okay, dad! I’m coming,” Ophelia teased. She swam to the steps and walked to the table. She slid on her sandals and thanked Nate for giving her a towel. He grabbed their belongings. “You promise we can come back though? I like being here.” She and Nate started to walk off from the hotel pool.
“Have I ever lied to you?” Nate questioned.
“Yeah like twice. You told me you weren’t nervous to propose and guess what Aunt Charlotte told me? You were totally nervous! And what about the time you told me you weren’t going to make it for my party and you did! You are a liar, Nathan Mackinnon!” Ophelia said a little too excitedly.
“Okay! Keep walking, mouse.” Nate playfully pushed her as they walked back to the hotel building.
“Geez, okay dad.”
And there it was again. The D word. Nate knew she was playing when she called him dad. A part of him liked it though. The idea that someone would call him that. He also liked that technically Ophelia and Anais were his first introduction to a glimpse of fatherhood. He couldn’t wait to start that journey.

Vogue had contacted you to make a cooking video since season five of The Bear was coming out and promotion for the series had started. You agreed and soon you were off to the studio to start filming.
You were making a simple steak dinner. Throughout the filming process, you explained each step. You weren’t much a cooker before you got casted in The Bear. In all honesty, you were very picky with your food and you desperately wanted to change that. Thankfully, by going to culinary school for your role, you were able to change your habit.
“I feel like I’m back in my apartment making dinner for my boyfriend. He loves when I cook steak.” You said as you sliced some potatoes.
“Does your boyfriend cook?” A producer asked.
You stopped your actions. “He tries and I love his effort. But I do most of the cooking. I don’t mind. I found comfort in cooking and I learned that it’s peaceful.”
“Have you tried teaching him?” The same producer asked.
“Our schedules sometimes don’t align. He has road trips, I have meetings or I’m filming in another city. But during the off season I do teach him some things, but it always ends up with me cooking the entire meal by myself.” You replied.
Eventually you were done with your steak and potatoes. You looked into the camera as you did the outro for the video. “Not going to lie, I think this might be the best steak I have ever made,” you picked up a piece and ate it. You were right. “I don’t know if this is crazy but I’m tearing up right now because I just thought about Anthony Bourdain,” you laughed through your incoming tears. You surely sounded crazy. The camera crew laughed at your words. “Local woman eats a piece of steak that makes her cry and think of Anthony Bourdain.”
You cleaned your hands and tears away and continued with the video. “Season five of the bear is coming soon. Thank you for watching me get emotional while eating. Um. . . Oh! Connor, I know you’re watching, love you and I’ll make you steak when I see you!”

Halifax
Sidney kept a close eye on Vivien, who was helping out with the dishes. She was currently seven months pregnant with their daughter. Many people had told her to sit down and rest, but she insisted on helping. Sidney’s birthday celebration had just ended a couple hours ago. The next thing on his list was fly back to Pittsburgh soon for training. This time it was only Sidney traveling, Vivien was going to stay with the Crosby’s until Anais’ birth in October.
“Can you stop staring? I can feel your eyes on me.” Vivien turned to look at Sidney, who was cleaning up the dining table.
“I’m making sure you’re okay,” Sidney said. He then quietly made his way to her. “Are you okay? You can go sit down, no one is forcing you to wash dishes, Viv. We got it.”
“I know. I’m just a little tired of sitting.”
“You sure you’re okay?” Sidney asked for what seemed like the hundredth time.
“If you ask me if I’m okay one more time, I might just splash you with the soapy water.” She warned.
Sidney sighed heavily, clearly defeated, but accepting the fact that she wanted to be on her feet for a while. “Just let me know if you need something.” He said then pressed a gentle kiss on her lips.
As he continued cleaning, his phone rang in his back pocket. He looked at the screen and stepped outside to the backyard to take the call. He even made sure to fully close the patio door on his way out. Vivien looked at him through the window in front of the sink. It looked like a serious phone call.
“Viv? What are you doing? I thought I told you to relax. We got it,” She heard Taylor’s voice coming from behind her. Taylor had just come back from taking out the trash. The Crosby girl saw that Vivien was staring at her brother through the window. “What’s wrong?”
Vivien tapped her nails on the ceramic sink. “Lately he’s been avoiding taking calls when I’m around. He always goes outside or to another room.” She continued to stare at her boyfriend.
Taylor had been sworn to secrecy. She wasn’t going to spoil anything no matter what. “Maybe it’s coaches. He always has calls from coaches or teammates when the season is going to start again.”
All Vivien did was nod. “I bet those calls are stressing him out. I think I can see grey hairs from here.” She lightly teased as she rinsed off the last dish.
“Imagine when the baby comes.“ Taylor added. She saw Vivien dry her hands on the towel. “Wanna watch the rest of season 1 of Smallville? You promised!”
“One hour of Tom Welling as Clark Kent sounds like a dream.” Vivien blushed. “Don’t tell your brother I said that.”
“Your secret is safe with me.” Taylor laughed.
And that was the thing, Taylor Crosby was the best at keeping secrets. When her older brother told her he was making something for his daughter’s nursery, she vowed to not tell anyone. After learning what exactly he was making, Taylor knew it would be worth lying to Vivien.

Vivien was happy to be back home in Pittsburgh. Yes, she loved spending time in Halifax, but she had gotten used to the city. While Sidney was on a road trip with the team, Vivien stayed with the Crosby family and she was extremely grateful for them. Steve had even traveled to the Crosby family home to be with his daughter even if it was for a couple days.
Now Sidney had a small break so arranged for a plane to bring Vivien and Anais back home. He couldn’t wait to see them, but also show Vivien the project her had been working on for months.
“And we’re home, my girl. Are you ready to see your room?” Vivien whispered to a sleeping Anais in her car seat as Sidney unlocked the apartment door. Vivien took Anais’ little noises as a yes. Finally, Sidney unlocked the door and opened it for them. He grabbed ahold of Anais’ car seat and carried her into the apartment. Vivien let out a deep breath at sight of a clean apartment that smelled like lavender.
“I need a shower. I smell like an airport and I don’t like it.” Vivien went to the refrigerator to find some fruit to snack on. Sidney always made sure there were containers of cut up fruit for her.
“Before you shower, I need to show you something. It’s in her nursery.” Sidney carefully took his daughter out from her car seat. Anais whimpered when she felt herself being lifted, but settled down the second she heard her dad’s voice whisper calming words to her.
“What is it?” Vivien asked, following Sidney and Anais to the nursery. Sidney held his baby girl in his arms as he slowly opened the door.
Anais’ nursery was filled with stuffed animals on shelves, the crib that Vivien was obsessed with because it had a canopy and the changing table. Everything was in a pretty soft pinks and green. Vivien didn’t know what Sidney was showing her until she spotted a rocking chair in the corner of the room.
She slowly approached the rocking chair and noticed all the details. It was painted a white color and the wood had tiny imperfections that only happened when something was made by hand. Along the curved headrest was a single painted letter in cursive.
A
For Anais.
The arms of the chairs were decorated with tiny painted flowers that wrapped around the wood without looking overwhelming. The seat held a cream-colored cushion tied meaty with ribbons.
Sidney started to look nervous. Vivien hadn’t spoken a single word since she saw the chair. “I started working on it when we found out.” He said being very careful not to wake the baby in his arms. “I worked on it when I had a day off. I had to start over twice.”
Vivien touched the painted A on the headrest. It was perfect. “I didn’t know you knew how to make chairs.”
“I knew how to build it, I just didn’t know how to build it well. There was this carpenter pier side of Pittsburgh and I would call him or he would call me. He’d tell me what tools I needed, how to make stronger joints,” he laughed lightly when he remembered all the questions he kept asking the poor carpenter. “I was asking him things like ‘how do I stop the armrest from wobbling?’ I’m pretty sure he was more than happy that I finally finished the chair so I would stop calling him with my questions. I ruined more wood than I care to admit.” He said.
Then Vivien turned to him and kissed his lips. She was careful not to crush her daughter, who was still in Sidney’s arms. “So that explains the calls.” She chuckled.
“I’ve never been good at lying to you. I mean I don’t want to.” Sidney admitted. “Oh Viv, I hated keeping it from you. I wanted this to be the first thing you saw when you and Ani came home.”
Vivien started tearing up. She could feel some tears roll down her face. “You idiot.” She laughed softly through her tears. She, of course, didn’t mean it.
I will forever mourn the fact that young rhaenyra had a scene with young alicent getting ready for her wedding with viserys but it was deleted 😔 and look at alicent’s wedding look!!
