“I guess we both got into the habit of having violent tendencies when angered. Though, I’m still having to deal with mine since It isn’t something I can control when it happpens. Either way, it’s not exactly a good thing to have in common especially if it’s caused by something similar to mine.”

“You’ve learned how to handle it for the most part, so you’re doing good on that.” Geno gives a small grin before sighing softly. “Mine was more caused by... losing my mind. I snapped and wanted the entire multiverse to hurt in a way. Let my own jealously of others getting happiness while I was alone in a blank white space... Heh, it was my own fault I ended up there. I was told not to mess with determination anymore... and I went ahead and did it.”

“Destructive is much better than the violent and murderous rage fits I get when I have too magic in my soul. I don’t even seem like myself when they happen. I become pretty close to being the opposite of myself, that it feels like I’m stuck in a horrible nightmare. My mind practically is screaming at me to stop, but I can’t exactly control myself, so I just keep attacking everyone in my path…or at-least until someone snaps me out of it, But, you’d have to be pretty brave to have the courage to me a hug when I’m like that either that or somehow surprise hug me.”

“It’s definitely an improvement from when I was violent and murderous.” Geno lets out a soft sigh, closing his sockets for a moment. He was... completely insane back then, calling everyone he met dirty glitches and mistakes.

“Calmness is pretty hard to fake, especially when  you’re easily angered. I can’t even do that. So you have some talent to internalize your anger. Either that or your temper doesn’t  get as explosive as mine. Either way, props to you being able to do that. Just make sure you find a healthy outlet for that anger afterwards or during,  I don’t think it’s healthy to keep  such a raw emotion bottled up for long. I usually drop the act when I’m home.”

“Oh, I get pretty explosive when pushed too far, tore apart a few rooms in a blind rage plenty of times.” He frowns a little, remembering how get gets when like that. The insane laughter tends to freak out his brother and well the guy with most of the soul could be called his twin. “I get... kind of terrifying when I snap, just going on destructive rampages.”

Berry adjusted his bandana, “Well, I do try my best to be. After all, I’m the only brother he’s got. So being the best brother I can be is one of my goals. Sure, I guess you can say  faking emotions is a survival tactic. I mean I did it so I would stop getting bullied and to make me easier to approach and make friends.”

Geno adjusts his own scarf a bit. “And that’s why you’re doing great as a brother. You try to be there for him and give him space when he asks.”

He hums softly for a moment. “And well, I can definitely say it is a survival tatic, I use to keep people from being freaked out. I... have a few anger issues so I try to fake being calm. Keeps me from being seen as ‘dangerous’.”

Berry  made a  mental note and nodded at Geno’s advice, though  his scatter brain  might forget it at some point. He’s not exactly that good at remembering things.

“That’s nice of him, though I don’t get the appeal of pretending to hate something Seems a bit silly to me, thought that’s coming from someone who taught himself  how to fake emotions in order to blend in with society.So maybe it’s similar to that, I don’t know. I usually  have a plate of tacos waiting for him and then give him a hug. He always says I give the best hugs after all.”

Geno smiles a little at listening to what Berry does. “He’s got the best brother possible from what you’ve been telling me. And well, putting up a fake persona in public is actually pretty common, even for humans. It’s a survival tactic I think.”

“Sadly, I can’t exactly control how long my brother  stays alone. A lot of times he’ll just lock the door door until he’s ready to to be social or purposely go somewhere without telling where  he’s going.He can get very closed off during those days.I still try my best to be around him those day of-course, but when things really start biting him, he tends to just want to  be alone for for the entire day or however long that mood is going to last and I can only respect his wish to be alone.”

“I can understand respecting his wishes. I’d say just have some of his favorite things ready for him for when he’s ready to be around others.” He gives a small smile, remembering a few things. “My bro would actually go out and get me some ketchup and food from Grillby’s when I was in one of those moods, then kind of just sit and let me make as many puns as I wanted while he pretended he hated them.”

“Yeah, Papy and I take turns being their for each other. It works a lot when he does it for me, but I’m not sure if I can say it works for him. Lot of time he just brushes it off, Or if it’s really hitting him hard….he’ll just shut me out completely and ask to be alone…like today. Hence why he’s not around right now.”

“I see...” He remembers how he was before everything. “As long as he isn’t left alone for way too long with his thoughts. That can be... difficult on someone.”

He rubs his arm a bit, he isn’t sure if things are exactly the same as they were for him.

“If he’s depressed, he’s pretty good at hiding.  I know when I hit my low moments it’s pretty  hard for me to even pretend to be happy.  So if he’s depressed, I’m impressed on how well he can hide.”

Berry thought paused and thought a bit. While, it was hand to imagine his brother being depressed it would explain somethings, his dangerously low HP, the way that he’s constantly tired.

“Even if he is depressed, it’s not like he would tell me.He always says he’s fine, every time I ask him.”

“Some people think they can tough it out. I did.” Geno is frowning a bit as he thinks. “My brother always knew something was wrong, even if I did my best to hide it. Never talked to him about it, but he made sure I knew he was there for me and... it helped, knowing if I did want to open up, I had someone that would listen no matter what.”

He grins a tiny bit after saying it. “You can’t really make someone get help and it will work... they have to want to get better and want that help.”

“Probably just means he’s a stubborn lazybones that thinks if he acts somewhat rebellious  I’ll give up and stop asking him to do things.” Blue thinks a bit. “I guess it’s kinda working. I end up getting too frustrated  and give up after asking him about 15 minutes or so.”

“May it’s that, I hope it’s that and not what I was going through. Depression’s a pain in the ass to go through and even harder to recover from.” He’s frowning softly still, Geno’s honestly worried for Berry’s brother.

“You think? It shouldn’t, it’s not healthy. I’ve tried telling him to stop, but he doesn’t listen to me.  He keeps saying that I’m not in charge of him like some sort of rebellious teenager. It’s quite annoying . Now that I think of it, he rarely does what I ask him to do.”

“Huh, my bro grew out of the rebellious stage pretty quickly. Wonder if his continued rebellious behavior means anything.” Was it a way to feel some control over life? Was this timeline going through repeated resets like his had been?

“I’m sure he’d be happy to give you some suggestions. He’s not that hard to find if you know where to look . If he’s not in his usually spots, there’s usually some sort of trail, you can follow that leads to him. Like the smell of the smoke from his cigarettes or the smell of honey. Those are usually the biggest giveaways that he’s in the area.”

He makes a face at the mention of the smell of smoke. He’s not the biggest fan of cigarettes, but isn’t going to say anything about someone else’s habits considering how he sometimes eats. “Seems to be something shared across a lot of timelines similar to your own.”

“Well I’m not too much of a sciencey person, but I’m always glad to offer my opinions on things even if I don’t know much about it. I’m also a prohealer, so I can give you tips and suggestions on how to make healing tools. But if you want a more knowledgeable and insightful view of science stuff than my brother would be the guy to go to. Despite being really lazy, he’s super smart. He’s usually by that door or at Muffet’s.”

“I might have to ask him about it sometime, it would be good to get a bit more insight into how to better set up the projects.” Hopefully this Swap Papyrus isn’t too suspicious of those from outside the timeline. Though maybe if he’s really into science, he might show some excitement into proof of the multiverse theory.

“Well at-least you’re fine with talking one on one, so it’s a start. Every little bit counts towards progress as I always say. Even if little or  no progress is made,  talking with with at-least one person is much better than talking with no-one at all. Least from my experience it is, but I someone who thrives off of being social.But, I mean rather you’re like me or not I’m sure you do get some benefits from it like a different perspective on a topic.”

“Yeah, it’s still progress.” He hums softly, glancing around. He just wants to avoid running into more monsters from this timeline. Or the human. He’s got a soft spot for most Charas, but he’s always been kind of... iffy about Swap ones. “Another perspective can definitely help a lot in my field of work as well.”

“That’s understandable. I could be wrong about this, but it seems like the solution to the problem is getting used  to it.   Which is understandably a difficult task to do. But as long as you take deep breaths and keep taking baby steps things should become easier in time, least that’s what Undyne believes. Though if you’re anything like me, even that can become a bit too much.”

“My therapist has said the exact same thing honestly. While with haphephobia getting worse at times makes things even more difficult.” He goes silent for a split second. “And the massive holes in my memories had made me hostile to even my own family.”

He rubs his face for a moment, thinking again. “Talks like this aren’t bad though.”

“Shyness is a natural feeling for those who aren’t accustomed to social interactions. I was a bit shy when I first like 4-5  years old. But, my condition forced me to become a social  butterfly, can’t stop feeling lonely if you keep to yourself all the time and back then my  mood swing timer gave a much shorter amount of time for how I can feel lonely. Now I can usually go a few hours of being alone or feeling lonely, back then it was a ten minute max, before my emotions started changing. So, I guess in a way things got better.”

Berry paused a bit when he realized he was changing the subject to be a bit more about him and shook his head. He then cleared his throat before getting things back to the previous topic.

“Likewise things will get better for you. The more  interactions you have the easier it will become to communicate with large groups. You just need to start out small and work your way through it. After all, you can’t exactly text people you don’t know about your ideas and inventions.”

“It’s more... I can get overwhelmed to the point of sensory overload when around too many others. The team I work with in the labs I’m used to enough that they don’t cause it, but others... it can make it a bit too much for me.” He rubs his arm a little glancing up at the ceiling as he thinks. “Doesn’t help that sometimes... my haphephobia hits me hard. I freak out at just a hand on my shoulder.”

He shudders a bit, thinking back on a few bad freak outs cause of it. “I’ve destroyed entire rooms after having a meltdown from it all. I have to take serious baby steps to avoid being overwhelmed and going out of control.”

“I usually puff out my cheekbones and shout a bit if people make fun of my stature. But maybe you have your own qualities that would make finding the right connections easier.  I know my brother is laid back and easily approachable that usually helps him  make lots of friends, so maybe you have those traits. Or maybe you have your own unique traits.”

“I used to be pretty laid back in the past... Not so much now.” He was lazy at times, but he also had some issues with social interaction thanks to the anti-void and however long he was Error. “It’s easier to talk to others through text, but one on one talking in person isn’t too hard on me either.”

“Those ideas might help for grabbing their attention as well. But, I’m sure you’ll be able  to make at-least one good connection that will help you. You are me after all, and I am very charismatic and sociable.  So as long as those traits are consistent you sure be able to make connections no problem.   Make connections with the easier to get along with  humans first, then slowly work your way to those difficult ego inflated ones and  eventually you’ll  have enough connections to sell your idea to them.”

“True, just one good connection is needed... Though I wouldn’t say I’m charismatic... or sociable... I’ve had coworkers say I’m just shy of being feral.” He lets out a little laugh after saying that. “I mean, yeah, I do bite if someone teases me over my height enough, but I wouldn’t say I was feral.”

Geno, you drew blood the last time you bit someone, and hide on top of the lockers when annoyed.
