Is there another author who inspires you to write?Ā
Fanfic authors? So many, but I think I do have to shout @scandalaciousintentions out for this one! I read Where Dwell The Brave At Heart and The Gospell According To Lupin years and years ago and it inspired me to write then, and Iām still here chatting shit all these years later.Ā
Ghoultown and aegle also deserve a mention! Love both of their styles so much.Ā
How long do you spend editing?Ā
Oooh this is a very good question. Iām editing almost constantly and spend almost more time rewriting than I do writing (itās why things are very sloooow to come out, despite how much I tend to write). If something isnāt flowing quite right, I can end up with 10+ iterations of the same thing before I move on the next piece and the cycle continues.Ā
Then when Iām ādoneā Iāll listen to the thing read aloud to catch anything that really really doesnāt work.Ā
What trope do you want to write but havenāt yet?Ā
Iāve been thinking about a soulmate Au, but I think Iām currently writing something almost close to that for Aziraphale/Crowley.Ā
Iāve got a plan and a first chapter for a sort of coffee shop AU with R/T somewhere around here that I probably wonāt ever get round to finishing. But Iād like to, and itās the thought that countsā¦right?Ā
11 and 14! :)
Thank you! :DĀ
Which fic did you do the most research for?Ā
This one has to be Oh! Itās a lovely War by a landslide. This one is set in the trenches of world war 1, and I filled an entire notebook full of notes on everything from slang, to the material of the socks, how often duckboards sunk into the mud, and what condoms looked like in 1917.Ā
Some of it made it into the fic, other bits into the footnotes when I got overexcited about sharing something, but a lot of it exists only in my head.Ā
What are your three most used additional tags?
āMessy Remadora/Tonks/Remusā
āRemus Lupin needs therapyāĀ
And, of course, the classics: bisexual Remus, Nonbinary Tonks
1, 8, 17
Thank you! āŗļøāŗļø
Which of your fics is your pride and joy?
I'm cheating and saying two i'm afraid
TELL ME HOW TO LIVE FOREVER: Remus tries to bring James back from the dead (M, 12k words, moonchaser)
AUTOCLAVE: Remus finally gets therapy and takes Tonks on their first date (M, 10k, remadora)
What Wip are you most excited about?
I think the second chapter of The Feeling Of Being In Motion. Its gonna be a loooong one, but im excited to get through this fic.
Whats the easiest genre to write?
Not so much a genre, but i do find angst easier to write than fluff. I know my way around a tragedy, but struggle with romance i think.
ask me if you want!
Glad youāre back too!! I saw a meta about how it would have made much more sense if remus and tonks got pregnant out of wedlock⦠and that it was out of character for them to have gotten married. thoughts?
I haven't seen the meta, so I don't know exactly the points being made or anything. But that's never stopped me before! So i'm taking it just as the premise above, rather than looking at the meta itself!
I'm coming at this from two minds.
I dont think all relationships need to culminate in marriage for them to be loving or fulfilling (or 'end game'), and i think that is especially true for Remus and Tonks. Their relationship doesn't need to end in marriage for it to be a long-term thing taken seriously by the narrative, and i agree to a pretty big extent that it would have been better, character wise, if it didn't -- at least right then, anyway.
I mean, I can make it work because i like to figure out how these puzzle pieces fit together and ultimately try to fix them, but the fact they end up married and not just together long-term is pretty indicative of the author's own conservative views on what makes a family.
So, as long as the meta wasn't 'he doesnt even like her, he would have to be forced to be with her for propriety's sake if you actually want them together' then i think i probably agree.
But, if we're saying he should have married her after getting her pregnant, then i actually disagree.
I think that if Remus had not married Tonks before she was pregnant, there's no way in hell he'd marry her after. The expectation in society, even in 1997, that you marry someone if you get them pregnant does not, really in anyway, apply to werewolves and the way they are despised in wizarding society.
Its one thing to agree to marry tonks when its just her to consider. She's a fully grown adult, capable of making her decisions, and is both intelligent and mature enough to have a very solid understanding of the societal impacts of marrying a werewolf -- the way it damages her relationships, risks her job, threatens her life.
But bringing an unborn child into this risk is different, and, given the way he lays out his valid concerns in DH, i dont think Remus would be willing to do so just because some in society view it is as a strange 'sin' to not be married if you have a child. He might consider it, maybe, but I don't think either of them would really feel the need to do so unless they already planned to. I don't think Tonks would need (or want) this either.
That's not to say I think Remus would leave and not come back if he wasn't contractually obliged to do so. I think he can still be a present father and partner without marriage vowels -- perhaps, without the legal pressure, a much better one. But Teddy would be Teddy Tonks, Remus and Tonks would remain partners not spouses, and everything remains in Tonks' name alone.
(I mean, if you want my real hot take, it's that I don't love that Teddy Lupin exists. I think he represents an unnecessary aspect to a relationship already too complicated, and perhaps mature, for the narrative to really explore, and once more speaks to the author's own desire to present a chance for a happy ending as exclusively marriage, 2.4 children, and a white picket fence - opposed to having a loving, if complex, relationship and a place to learn and heal slowly after a lifetime of prejudice and loss. Teddy damages both of their characterisations for this, and i don't think the brief suggestion of him we get in the epilogue is worth it at all. Shoot me)
Iām glad youāre back! I missed your Remadora posts!!!
I don't think I'd find Remus and Tonks half as compelling together as I do if Tonks' response to 'I'm too old, too poor, too dangerous' had been 'no you're not' instead of 'I don't care'
It's very interesting that Tonks is so often characterised one-dimensionally in the fandom as always happy, cheerful, goofy, or, hell, even childish, given the way she's portrayed in, like, every book she's in.
That idea just doesn't hold up to scrutiny, and I'm pulling out my soap box and going on a rant.
Tonks absolutely brings the jokes in The Advanced Guard chapter. She's not afraid to make fun of herself ('did you hear me break that plate') or ask really stupid questions ('I suppose it varies, just like with wizards?'), or make fun of Mad-Eye ('you do know that's disgusting don't you?').
But, beyond 'The Woes Of Mrs Weasley' ('my head of house said I lacked the necessary qualities [...]like the ability to behave myself'), she doesn't crack jokes at the quite same rate ever again.
She's still funny, the narrative hasn't actually forgotte, it's brought up all the time ('at least Tonks is a laugh'). But it's not the key thing that she is in every single instance.
There's so much more to her.
By Christmas in Ootp, we see she's got a bit of a bite: casually threatening Stan Shunpike with violence ('say his name again and I will curse you into oblivion' muttered Tonks, menacingly') and being serious and abrupt getting the kids to school ('And [Tonks] shoved Harry forward toward the steps').
She's "bossy", in charge, and in control there and in the Advanced Guard ('āWeāre not going through clouds!ā shouted Tonks angrily.'). From the very beginning.
There's a vindictive, vengeful streak that rears it's head in DH ('I just wish I got her, I owe Bellatrix') whilst being very casual about violence ('we definitely injured Rodolphus').
And that stems from her almost irrational guilt complex that, whilst not the most pressing issue, is part of her struggle throughout HBP ('She thinks it was her fault [Sirius] died').
She's a solider and a fighter. The only other member of the Order who matches Tonks being in every key fight, is Remus. She's the protege of the most successful auror in the country, is known to be smart ('And sheās more intelligent,'), and commits treason the first time the opportunity comes up.
I'm not sure I'd really classify Tonks as always cheerful or always goofy in just The Advanced Guard when she is definitely 'on' and, we can assume, lightening the mood ('stop being so cheerful Mad-Eye, or he'll think we're not taking this seriously') never mind all. of. the. time.
She's just funny.
It's a one-dimensional pigeon hole that you don't usually see other funny characters (like Remus or Sirius) getting stuck in at quite the same rate that Tonks seems to.
There's so much left unsaid about Tonks, the contradictions she's made of, the journey she goes on far in the background that has nothing to do with the kids, that it makes me want to hold her between my teeth and shake her like a chew toy.
Had to buy pads from morisons this morning and the cashier hits me with 'ive been trying to figure out if youre a boy or a girl, i know now!"

There are multiple chapters that are set in hospitals where the characters are attempting to recover from injuries that never fully heal. I must once again stress that my experience in WWI was perfectly normal.
There is a giant horrible mudplain full of unrecoverable and perfectly preserved dead bodies that the characters have to walk through in a land where the air is poisoned gas, and on a compLETELY UNRELATED NOTE: WWI WAS TOTALLY FINE AND NORMAL!!
You can make a right-wing man's brain explode by pointing out that the majority of diets throughout antiquity were mostly plant based
Dragging myself through the last 200 pages of a little life but like goddamn
My kingdom for even a modicum of character development please
I can never take the 'well you didnt have to transition' argument seriously because my gender dysphoria got so bad i couldnt stomach even being hugged for years in case people would feel my chest and now people in my life just think i hate all physical contact
But sure susan i should have stayed like that
Snippet tagĀ
Thank you for the tag @diamondmeadow!
Iāve been jumping back and forth between wips recently, but this is a snippet from the next feeling of The Feeling Of Being In Motion Again that may or may not make the final cut.Ā
They spend the next hour covered in flour and, after Teddy's enthusiasm goes awry, picking bits of eggshell from a bowl of cupcake batter with a wooden spoon whilst the boy babbles away.Ā "Me and mummy make cupcakes together." Teddy tells him. He swings his legs against the cabinets and sends the shivers through the plates inside. The tiny ducks on his socks smack merrily against the wood. āAll the time." Remus measures out a heap of chocolate chips with his wand, and hands them to Teddy to drop into the bowl. "I remember she was a very good baker." Tonks was a menace to most kitchens she walked into and the best that could be said about her cooking was that it was (usually) edible. But then he'd walked into head quarters one wet afternoon in September '95 and found her, flour-splattered and wired on caffeine and guilt, baking some of the nicest muffins he'd ever tasted. It's just science, Remus, she's said at his surprise, baking it just like potions except it tastes better. Cooking is bullshit. He'd always found it funny when she spoke like that. Sometimes, she appeared to think in logic and science, strict cause and effect, Post Hoc Ergo Propter Hoc, a world chewed up and spat out in bite size pieces to examine. But she was also the most staunchly creative problem-solver he knew, and wore her heart stapled to the sleeve of every outfit he had ever seen her in. Full of contradictions. Teddy picks a chocolate chip from the bowl and chews on it thoughtfully. "Are you and mummy friends?" "Um." A devastating question. There's relief in the anonymity, and a bite of bitterness. His knuckles turn white around the wooden spoon. "We wereā¦very good friends, a long time ago." "What about now?" "Ah." Remus folds the last of the chocolate in. "It's complicated. Hard to explain." He adds at Teddy's tiny, bemused face. "I hope so."

Thank you for the tag @grindylowtank!

1.) I managed to turn my favourite fairy cakes vegan and they're not too bad
Ā My mum used to make these raisin fairy cakes when I was a kid that were my favourite thing for ages, and I finally got the recipe from her and turned it vegan. BananaĀ + baking powder has worked really well, but does make it taste slightly more banana than Iād like so applesauce is the next experiment.
2.) I watched GO3 with friends yesterday, and even though it was wasnāt great (and Iāve got some minor gripes) the company and the food was <3Ā
3.) I was running the other day and I ran past a little deer!! It was just right there in the trees beside the cycle track, and we stood there looking at each other for a bit before we ran off in other directions. Now I didnāt finish Red Dead Redemption 2 but I think this means my honour is high or something (or that I have TB)Ā
