Remus and Sirius used to be friends. They used to be… more than friends? When he decided to spend a term studying in a university in Finland, Remus expected to be pushed out of his comfort zone, maybe make a few new friends, and learn to enjoy what a foreign country has to offer. He had, never in his wildest dreams, expected to run into his old friend, who left a lasting impact on him years ago.
An unexpected reunion with a childhood friend in a foreign country turns into getting to know each other again while playing tourists and finishing the day with a relaxing time in a sauna… naked, as tradition dictates
I wasn't specifically tagged, but @educatedinyellow tagged everyone interested, so here I go! The goal of this meme is to find particular words in one's WIPs, but if you don't have enough/any WIPs, please share any posted fics that have them. Also, go check out her post and the lovely fics she shared.
Words to find: dark, wry, moonlight, music, trust
The following are all from my WIP folder with the exception of the last, which is a posted story, and are very much still drafts:
Pull Me Up Again (post-fall reunion gift fic for @educatedinyellow, inspired by her amazing fanvid)
John watches as Sherlock reacclimatizes to London, to Baker Street, to him. Before (Before), the man’s main settings were either whirlwind or comatose. In these strange new days, he has been in an ambiguous middle state of unfocused restlessness. He looks uncomfortable in his own skin, unsettled. Unsure. It’s wrong. Sherlock Holmes was never this unsure Before.
John can relate; he’s struggling to readjust himself. He’s had to bear life without Sherlock for two years, always seeing him in dark corners but never in the light. Now that Sherlock is out of the shadows, John still feels the need to pinch himself whenever his eyes land on the man. He still doesn’t understand how this is real. He expects he never will.
Of Shags and Squires (my BBC take on REIG)
John wasn’t sure what he’d find when he finally arrived, soaked and shivering from the rain, but he was relieved when he popped the hatch and lowered himself down. Sherlock was a wreck, curled up in a corner of the small space and wrapped up tightly in a manky blanket, but he wasn’t in the worst state John had ever seen. No bloody injuries, at least. Most importantly, Sherlock was awake and coherent. The harsh cough and apparent fever were a concern, however.
“Jesus, Sherlock.” John shook off his jacket and ran a hand through his wet hair. “You know better.”
“Can we leave off with the lecture?” Sherlock curled up tighter and closed his eyes.
“Nope. When was the last time you ate? Drank something, anything?”
“Mags brought me some soup and crackers this morning.” A deep cough. “I’m not an idiot, John.”
“Some have remarked,” said John, wryly. “Mags. Is she the one who called me?”
“’They.’” Sherlock coughed again and added a groan this time.
“Are they the one who called me?” John swallowed down his irritation.
“Yes, they’ve been quite attentive.”
John wanted to ask more, like who was Mags and how did they know Sherlock. More than that, why were they helping Sherlock instead of John. He put that all aside; in the end, it wasn’t important. He was here now. “Budge up, I need to check you over.”
Boogeyman
The Menster home was unremarkable, just another terraced house nearly indistinguishable from all the others on the street, piles of rubbish in front included. The landlord let them in with reluctant grace, unsmiling but silent. Sherlock practically pushed the man aside and squeezed around the door as it opened. He went for the stairs straight away. “Which room was Darren’s?”
“Second on the left,” said John, as he followed Sherlock inside and up the stairs. Lestrade was behind, but he stopped in the front hallway to ask the landlord a few more questions. John hesitated before he went up the stairs,
Between the shut windows and the old radiator pumping out heat, the air was hot and stifling.
John paused at the top of the stairs. He knew they were alone up there, but he couldn’t help but feel the lingering traces of a malevolent presence. He imagined young Darren being woken up by a strange noise or maybe an unusual smell. Imagined the young boy waking up to see his closet door cracked open when he knows, he just knows he had closed it before bed. And in the pale moonlight streaming in from the window, he can just make out a face in the sliver of open space. He gets up out of bed to run to his mum’s room, but someone, something grabs him from behind. And then everything goes black.
A full body shudder rippled through John.
“John!”
Sherlock’s call broke the spell. John chided himself. There was no one else up there with him and Sherlock; he was being ridiculous and letting the situation get the better of him.
Roundabout (gift fic for @discordantwords)
“Hard to believe we’re just an hour outside London, isn’t it?” John couldn’t help but grin as they walked into the park. He inhaled deeply. The hot summer air was redolent with the enticing aromas of salt and sugar and various foodstuffs being fried beyond recognition and overlaid with the briny scent of the sea. All around them were the delighted squeals of kids running about, tinny music from the rides, and the animated shouts of carnies enticing folks to their fixed games. The sounds and the smells took him right back to some of his happiest childhood memories. He could almost hear Harry begging him to go on the rollercoaster with her just one more time.
A disgruntled sound from his left broke John’s reverie. He took a sideways glance at his flatmate and was glad for it; Sherlock’s face made him want to laugh out loud. It was a mix of revulsion and fascination the man was doing little to hide.
Never Trust to General Impressions
All the love John has been holding onto starts to pour out, and he has no desire to hold it back. Not now, not when he finally knows the most important thing. Oh, this brilliant, baffling, beautiful man. He steps forward and takes both of Sherlock’s hands in his. “I love you too, you bloody idiot. Whatever happens, we’re in it together.”
Sherlock turns his hands so that his fingers interlace with John’s. His hands are shaking, but his voice is strong. “What a mess we’re in, John. Tonight’s just the beginning. After all, you did chin the Chief Superintendent.”
He’s deflecting but the relief on his face is so plain to see, John doesn’t call him out on it. He needs to diffuse their intense emotions as well. “I did. And you took a bystander hostage at gunpoint and fled the scene.”
“Gavin is not going to be happy.”
“Greg will want to kick both our arses, you git, but he’s also our friend and we can trust him. And as much as it pains me to say this, there’s Mycroft. The man will move mountains for you, you know that. I won't even mention Mrs Hudson.” He releases Sherlock’s hands and wraps his arms around him. “You’re not alone, Sherlock. You have to know that. More than anything else, you have me and we have each other. We always have, and we always will.”

Summary:
You were just a normal run-of-the-mill HamHamPangPang worker. One day, the restaurant got a very strange order. On the front, it claimed to be an invitation to some sort of library, and on the back, it had an order scrawled out claiming to be from Roland, one of your regulars. You were tasked with delivering the order.
Hi hi! You said in one of your author's notes that you write the HP fics before posting them, and then on here you said that posting fics is like filing taxes or feels like a chore so you take a while to get around to it? Anyway if it's okay to ask I wanted to know if, while you haven't updated the Effie fic in a while, are you still writing the other books in the series?
Yes! I still work on the other books from time to time. I have a tendency to hop around a lot and tend to have a "work of the month," so I admit that I haven’t worked on Book 2 in a while, but I'm still actively thinking about it and plan to return when the muse shifts back that way. I think I have about ten chapters done, which is just a very small drop in the larger scheme of things, but with how long it takes me to work up the courage to post an Effie chapter, it might be done by the time I finish posting Book 1.
