H A P P Y T E A C H E R ‘ S D A Y to Sir Pornobi! (a.k.a. my dad: Ronald Pornobi)

I thought I wouldn’t get a chance, or should I call it a privelege to be his student during my JHS years, because some would say it’d bias to have my dad as my teacher in some of my subjects. But the school admins trusted my dad in his role as a teacher in class. You know, he’s very extraordinary! He brings life to school mornings everytime he’s the emcee. His fluency in english is remarkable. His professionalism as a teacher is always on spot and yet see the father-aura in him. And he is so, so, so SMART! Like legit, there’s like no stupid question he cannot answer. BTW, he’s my teacher during my grade 7 and 8 school years in Bayanihan Institute. All students who studied in BI and attended flag ceremonies everyday will never forget the color Sir Pornobi has brought to the students, teachers and staffs of Bayanihan Institute.

His tagline everytime we are asked to proceed to our respective classroom in the end of every flag ceremony in the sunny and cloudy mornings, some would even join him at saying it because it has been part of the morning of BInians: “God bless Bayanihan Institute!”

Well I too have a tagline of how I would describe my years having Sir Pornobi to be my tecaher: “My JHS years wouldn’t be THE JHS YEARS without Sir Pornobi.” 💞❣

ePortfolio:  My Lifestyle Regarding Media and Information Use

Let’s be real here. Nowadays, we are seldom of going to libraries to find for books and articles that will answer our assignments, researches, and wide-range of curiosity. I myself have not experienced those days because there are more developed easier ways of gaining knowledge. The internet is one of the best creations that have existed in the planet.

For more than 11 years, it has helped me on a day-to-day basis. It is where I can go to a certain website for a few and search for definitions, news, and formulas for the purpose of completing a certain task, and it is all there. And in the internet, there is social media. It is where I spend most of my time when I’m on my phone. Let’s say, I hang around 8-10 hours during weekdays with it and around 12-16 hours during the weekends. I keep on pulling myself from its total addiction because I don’t want to be miserable in life and get lazy and useless to the society scrolling through the internet all day long.

What has Internet brought me? It has brought me so much relief and convenience. TVs are hot seats and I can’t manipulate or pause-and-play what’s flashing on the screen. But with the help of news websites such as Inquirer.net and even TV stations with compilations of their anchored news available on YouTube. Not only in the field of news where I can expand my knowledge of but in so much more of what my curiosity can lead me towards to, which can also help excel and sharpen my memory by reading and knowing more quicker comparing to those days when you have to go to libraries and find its cards to locate it on the shelves which will consume a lot of time. In this mode of media, I’m referring to the Internet and Social Media, communities continue to grow and being part of some has been a great advantage to my lifestyle. Those ideas, inspirations and shared uploads and posts I see online brings out more creativity and extraordinariness to a plain simple canvas I walk upon.

But though I have said all the benefits it has done for me, too much goodness always has its counterpart. For instance, I worked very hard on editing my “Introduce Yourself” video. I worked for 1.5 hours editing a 3 minute video. When I began to send it via email, it won’t send! So I had to do a back-up and compose an essay instead because I only have a few hours left. I tried sending both works hoping that the short clip would be sent, but no. It was discouraging then because the work I have put for that project has gone into waste. Another is when I have an assignment today due tomorrow where I have to search for studies or researches about the effects of the K-12 curriculum to Filipino students. But unfortunately that day, there was no power. Without electricity, I can’t use the internet. That’s a bane. And last instance, when I communicate with a friend and we were settling something but he always miscommunicate or misunderstood my messages. He always misinterprets them, because in chats like those in messenger, even with the support of emojis, it doesn’t mean that the emoji is what one truly feels. The information in the internet too has been affected by the faux users; I had to check at least 5 links to see if that idea or statement is even real, reliable and credible before applying it.

 Overall and in conclusion, by the way I access, analyse, use, evaluate and create media; I think and know that I am a good media practitioner; but not the best. Yes, I only say what’s true from and for me being aware of what others may feel about it. I site sources I use words from and never lie about anything for the sake of fame, attention and recognition from the public. I am aware and responsible of the words and visuals I share. You know there are those users who just spread fishiness around the Internet and affect incidentally others. But I don’t use the media for anything that is unnecessary and inappropriate to the millions of people out there. But the main purpose of me posting these thoughts and creation is because I am proud of what I’ve done and it’s worth for the people to see. And that satisfies the qualifications of a good media practitioner to standards I’ve learned.
