This is just a personal set of thoughts I had time to go over in my head today. It might help someone else, so feel free to take a look.

My girlfriend lives pretty far away. I don't get to talk to her very often, and I only get to see her once a year or so. Once in a while, I've been asked if I would consider dating another girl if one showed interest in me. My gut reflex answer has always been "no", but I could never explain my answer. I had a little time to think about it today, and I think I have my explanation.

I once saw a girl working at a convenience store who pretty clearly thought I was cute. She smiled when I looked at her, giggled when I talked to her, tried to avoid direct eye contact when I smiled, and let me get away with a free cookie once in a while. Neither of us actually so much as learned the other one's name. Nothing came if it, but it would have been an easy green light to ask her out if I'd wanted to.

My girlfriend is someone I've known for more than five years now. She can be a little quiet and shy, and she has some interests she doesn't talk much about in public because she doesn't want to be made fun of. She doesn't have to think twice before talking to me about what she likes, even when I'm not as interested as she is. I'm also comfortable talking to her about things that would embarrass me to bring up in a big group. It's nice. Really nice.

Now you might be reading this and think "that just sounds like a close friend, not necessarily a girlfriend". You're not wrong. A good relationship needs to be based on a good friendship. She and I haven't committed to anything long term, but we have a pretty solid foundation if we ever do.

Cute looks can draw you in to meeting someone, but dating someone you don't know well out of the blue usually doesn't yield the best of results. I think my girlfriend is lovely AND cute (especially when she smiles), but I also know how kind she is and what sorts of troubles she deals with. If I were to ask out someone I don't know anything about just because she's cute, it would be very shallow by comparison.

It doesn't bother me that things move slowly with my girlfriend. It doesn't bother me that I can't see her often. Spending time with her makes me happy, where spending time with someone I don't know well usually makes me anxious. She and I are each living our lives, and we know a good bit more about each other's lives than new people we meet would be able to guess. The way I see it, that makes her well worth waiting for.

So inspired by last night’s dream where over time I was writing reviews of every episode of every cartoon I’ve ever watched, I decided to set up a blog where I can do just that. It will take a LONG time before I get anywhere CLOSE to every cartoon I’ve seen, but it will be a fun thing I can do from time to time, and I should have some interesting points to make. Cartoons are something I know almost as well as I know games, so I hope people will enjoy what I have to say!

Don’t forget, yesterday wasn’t a joke! We really did release the Great Gun Gauntlet demo!

If you experience a bug where settings aren’t correct when you boot up Great Gun Gauntlet, open Settings and hit Confirm to usually fix this.

(An example of this would be having Duel Stick Rotation on, but the player not actually rotating with both control sticks.)

If your anti-virus decides to scan Great Gun Gauntlet, let it scan.  It shouldn’t pick up anything and shouldn’t ask you again afterward.
