“Our reach extends worldwide,” GG said, seriously. She never seemed to take anything as hypothetical, or even a joke. She saw the world as far too black and white for that. “We have other ways of blending in than what we wear, you know.”

“that’s classified,” he said, shaking his head, pointedly. i took mib secrecy seriously, even with his own past. the person who knew the most about him was his partner, a. but, he figured it must be fairly obvious considering how often he left the city. plus, his favorite cases tended to be the ones that required he leave the city. “i’m outdoorsy, is all.”

“It was hardly a specific question, I.” GG pointed out, softly. She had deliberately worded her question to leave out the details, but could see why it was close to pushing boundaries. She had never been the outdoorsy type herself. “To each their own.”

“C’mon that all you got?” it was no secret agent M loved to fight, and she’d needed to release tension after being assigned to a new partner that again she hated. “Let’s do it, c’mon.”

“It’s not designed for human usage,” GG turned the gadget over in her hands. She could turn it up, sure, but it didn’t mean she wanted to. “I can’t, in good conscience, turn it up. It might hurt you.”

He laughed at the woman’s actions. “To the left.” D encouraged, even though her face looked perfectly fine. “It almost looks like there’s a word..” He leaned in closer to her face for effect. “Ah, it says ‘gullible’.”

“You’re an asshole, D,” GG scowled, resisting the urge to lash out. Luckily, she had good impulse control, and managed to refrain. “Don’t you have better things to do?”

“Don’t take this the wrong way, but..” D hesitated for a moment, looking at his colleague. “Does your face always look like that?” His eyebrows tightened as he stared them down.

GG’s head snapped up, brows furrowing together. “What’s wrong with my face?” she demanded, raising a hand to touch her cheek in confusion.

he smirked, a little more pleased with himself than was really necessary. “i don’t work, that’s for sure. usually, i get out of the city for a bit, hit the beach. but, it’s too cold now to do that so,” he shrugged. “if i have enough time i’d still like to get out of the city.”

GG nodded her head, processing I’s words. “Did you grow up in a city?” she asked. It wasn’t often she delved into her colleague’s personal lives- it was of no consequence to their work, but she couldn’t help but be curious. She herself had always lived fairly close to an urban area, and felt no need to escape it.

Z watched GG do her work. Despite her not relishing the fact that she was playing this role, as she let him know a few moments earlier, Z saw that she sold it nonetheless. All part of the job, he guessed. With all the tools she laid out and knowing GG knew how to utilize every single one of them, Z started to genuinely feel concerned for the suspect.

“Look, you do not want to know where that goes,” Z said, beckoning to the tool in GG’s hands, “Or what it does once it’s in there.” He paused to watch the suspect, sweating profusely. Two things will happen, Z surmised: either the guy’s gonna talk, or GG will use another threat and push the guy over the edge.

GG struggled to read people. She was far more comfortable with her gadgets and experiments, so she was happy to take the lead on this. Going too far was a risk she was iffy on taking. Not to mention, she would probably just sound stupid. Did she look stupid? She hoped not.

“Perhaps he does want to know,” she said, softly with a quirk of her brows. “After all, if he wasn’t the least bit curious, he would have spoken by now. It isn’t like he’s leaving here if he doesn’t.” She kept her tone light, with only the merest hint of a threat, but it was enough that the eyes of the suspect went as wide as saucers.

“I’m not going to waste your time,” Z said as he walked over to the interrogation table where the suspect sat. “And really, I want this to be over as much as you do. I’ve got better things to do, and so does my fellow agent over there,” he beckoned to the wall where the other agent stood. “There’s not gonna be a show of bad cop and good cop, but I can promise you that while I may deal with you verbally, my colleague over here will deal with you… physically.” He paused for effect, letting the remark sink in. “So, do we understand each other?”

GG didn’t like being reduced to the muscle, but she got the logic behind it. She had more than a few tricks up her sleeve when it came to gadgets that could reduce anybody to tears. “I don’t think they do understanding you,” she interjected. As much as she didn’t want to play this part, she would do so to the best of her capabilities. She moved from the wall over to their suspect, laying an array of wicked looking devices on the table between them. They were all decommissioned, of course- the real weapons were safely tucked away on her person, but they made an impressive display all the same. “Perhaps this will help,” she held up a particularly vicious looking, rod-shaped device.

❝I can’t remember where I put my neuralizer…❞ It was a sentence she’d said more than a few times during her first year with MIB, but after three years, one would expect an agent to be used to keeping up with their items. However, the killer headache suggested that her forgetfulness was not, in fact, due to self-neuralizing. ❝Can someone turn down the lights?❞

Normally, GG would chastise any agent for misplacing their neuralyzer, but it was obvious that was not what W needed right now. She was clearly suffering. Reaching into her pocket, GG pulled out her regulation issue Ray-bans and offered them to her colleague. “I can put a tracker in it when you find it if you want. That way you won’t misplace it again.”

eye stared at her blankly. “i ask what i should do with my spare time and you suggest i do more work.” he let the statement hang in the air, his tone as blank as his stare. “dang i forgot who i was talking to. is that what you do with your time off? work?”

“That’s what I would-” GG began, though she trailed off at his latter statement. Was she really that much of a stick in the mud? “I usually spend most of my free time in the lab,” she said, her cheeks colouring a little. Clearly she was very, very boring. “What do you usually do when you’re off?”

“y’know,” i began, chest swelling with pride, “i don’t think i’ve ever been this on top of the caseload before.” putting the last initial on the file on his desk, he flipped the manila folder, and shut the case. “i may actually have some time off this week.” he turned, looking somewhat hopeful. “what should i do?”

“You could ask Q if there’s any other cases that need extra attention,” GG looked up from the technology she was fiddling with, screwdriver in hand. The concept of time off was clearly foreign to the woman. “Or the archives could do with updating. The old files need alphabetising.”

“i get that. i could’ve slashed up this shirt, y’know. at least you aren’t in your suit.” there were a handful of agents still dressed in their suits, some even in their jackets as well. “sooo you’re saying you need another drink before you bob for apples? me too.” he grinned.

“I don’t think Halloween is worth ruining your wardrobe for” GG laughed softly. “If I’d have known I wouldn’t be the only one in a suit, I wouldn’t have bothered dressing up,” she said with a deep sigh. She supposed it wasn’t really a major inconvenience, but it definitely felt like it. “Come on. Let’s get a drink before they run out of contraband.”

“oh. well, i mean, i wear these when i’m off.” he shrugged. “doesn’t feel weird, to me.” he was an easy-going man, however. not being in a suit felt a little naked, but it didn’t necessarily bother him. “you look good in stripes?” eye offered.

GG was a little embarrassed to admit that even in her downtime, she wore suits. She never knew when she would need to head back to work last minute, and it paid to be prepared. “I don’t own many clothes. Just a washing machine,” she said with a shrug. His compliment had her glancing down at herself, tugging her shirt out so she could look at it. “Too much colour for me,” she said with a wry grin.

He noticed her clenched jaw and hesitation, thinking it was probably because she didn’t mean to speak to him at all, causing C to get embarrassed slightly. “I think dressing up stupidly one day a year and experiencing people get too drunk is a small price to pay for working here though.”

“That’s true. I’d probably be forced to socialise a lot more if I worked elsewhere,” GG conceded, shooting him what was almost a smile. “Are you having a good time though, C?” she asked. The thought of making small talk made her feel awkward, but she couldn’t just say nothing.

“So by extension, the busiest one,” GG mimicked Dubs’ conspiratory whisper. She herself was not the friendliest person in the world- but she’d be lying if she said she understood what W was getting at. “I still think there’s better places to hide than under a table.”

“Don’t be an ass,” GG grumbled, though she did sit down, regardless of the fact that K clearly didn’t want her to. “You’re playing Minesweeper, K. It’s hardly top priority,” she complained, dropping paperwork on the desk with a satisfyingly loud slap.
