“Well.” Liz cleared her throat. “This is unexpected.”

“I’ve made arrangements for Pierce to stay here and continue your training. He’ll help where he can.”

“O-Okay….” she said a little concerned by his behavior. “Are you sure you don’t need anything, Evan?”

Evan shook his head slowly and looked away. That night would be the last time he’d see New York for some time. How long was still very much up in the air. “Stay safe.”

“That does not answer my question.”

“Well, it’s a complicated answer. I’ll meet you at the East River at 79th.”

“Are you sure? I mean, it’s not too much trouble.” Yeah they were going to be busy with all the people flooding in now but it didn’t mean that she couldn’t take the time to help Evan out now.

Evan half smiled at her. The expression never reached his eyes which just remained exhausted after the days events. “I’ll be fine.” Truthfully he’s survived worse. “I have a few things that need to be address now. Take care of yourself. Find someone that’ll help watch your back. Everyone needs someone.”

“I will, once everything is taken care of here….do you need a place to stay or somewhere to lay low? I can talk to Liz or someone and see about finding you somewhere.” It seemed most of the refugees were planning on finding refuge here now.

Evan nodded slowly. “I’ll be fine.” Being who and what he is, Evan had grown accustomed to starting over. He moved from place to place to stay alive, under the radar, and fight the Originals wherever he could. “There will be a lot more that need your help now.”

“You’d like to apologize?” Elizabeth sighed. “Where are you?”

“I’m preparing things for departure.”

Shock, that was the only logical explanation for why he seemed so…..not him. She wasn’t going to question it because it was actually kind of nice. Maybe there was a human side to him after all. “I’m…I’m okay. A little scared, but I think almost everyone is.” Jana tried to shoot him a small smile, not really sure what to expect but thinking maybe it would help someway.

Evan nodded slowly. “You should get off the streets.” He knew the Originals wouldn’t just stop with them. Now that the city was thrown back into chaos they’d take advantage of it and kill as many as possible. It would be similar to the culling that happened after Atlantis rose.
