Hey all! I just wanted to let you know that I’ve been super sick, hence my absence, but I’m getting better slowly! Pneumonia is both a bitch to spell and to have. Also, it’s my birthday on Saturday, so up until Sunday Ima take a hiatus as I’m super busy! love you all xx

“i think my favorite part about questioning witnesses is, after, you take ‘em to a diner, get some pie, and if you don’t like them, you stick ‘em with the bill after you neuralyze them.” agent i mused, himself enjoying some lemon merengue pie he’d taken from such an interview. “seriously, this dude was such an asshole. i should’ve ordered enough pies for the whole office.”
“I’ve done that on dates,” V admitted with a wry smile. “You know how it is. You meet a guy on Tinder, arrange a night out, and he turns out to be the world’s biggest douche. Honestly, I think every girl should get a neuralyzer when she hits puberty.” she leaned over, unashamedly stealing a little forkful of his pie. “Pie and champagne, we could have had ourselves a party.”

“TRUST ME, I KNOW THIS KIND OF STUFF,” she didn’t exactly want to but part of being an agent meant using the skills and knowledge of the lives they lived before were definitely useful. that was why she was often assigned to help other agents who had been hurt or needed anatomy help whether it was for aliens or humans. “humans who have sex are only eighty five percent protected. a human and an alien? the numbers could drop considerably.” considering aliens were far more agile and frisky, it was a possibility she didn’t want to consider. it didn’t even phase her that the other agent had raised her voice a bit. “YOU’RE SWEET, i know i’d miss the chase if i were down there. wanna go now? we can either freak them out for life or save them some trouble. i hear they’ve got a nypsyhn helping out and i’ve been wanting to check that out.”
“Wait, seriously?” V said, blinking in shock. “If you’re telling me that I’m still 15% likely to get pregnant using protection, I’m definitely overplaying my odds.” She appeared to be genuinely concerned for a minute. “I guess that’s my alien seduction plan shelved for now. Goddamn it.” V let out an exaggerated sigh before rising to her feet. “I thought you’d never ask. Let’s go. I wonder when the last time they saw a real woman was.” She grabbed her jacket, slinging it over her shoulder casually. For official secret agents, she still didn’t trust any of them with her things.

Just as any awkward exchange happened, the woman must have felt someone watching her, and she turned only to make eye contact with S. She smiled in a confused, yet friendly manner, and S could only look away embarrassed at being caught. Gathering himself, S decidedly made his move, stretching his arm across the back of the bench, and turning to face her once again. Only this time, he was face to face with V. S flinched at her sudden appearance. She spoke calmly, and S was unsure of her intent. Had she noticed the minute exchange between S and the other woman? Most likely, and he let out a sigh, avoiding eye contact with the other agent, embarrassed for a second time in but a matter of moments. “I appreciate the cold. It’s bracing.” He eventually replied, “Heading home, I assume? I can’t imagine you out in this weather for any other reason.”
His flinch told her he had not noticed her approach, and she patted his arm in affection and amusement. “Gotta stay sharp, S. You never know when something will come up,” she said, lightly, leaning back against the bench. She had vaguely noticed his attentions towards the other woman, but it hadn’t bothered her. She rarely did feel threatened by other women. “It makes me miss Summer,” she said, with a sigh, tightening her scarf around her neck. “Bingo. Unless you want to join me for drinks and dessert.”

“pssh,” she hissed, “i’ve knocked out five of them in a couple days.” mostly because jj liked to listen to music while she worked. it kept her focused in a room that was so rife with distractions. she still caught herself staring at all the aliens passing through immigration. “okay, so,” she woke up her computer, “you go to this website, sign in with your spotify, and it just matches you based on the music you listen to. if you don’t have an account, you can hit “try as guest.” i’m not sure how that one works, though.”
“That’s impressive,” V said, appreciatively, turning her gaze from JJ to punch the url into her computer. The website asked her to select five of her favourite artists from a list that she found far too sparse, but after a moment, she had selected her top choices- Kendrick Lamar, Beyonce, ASAP Rocky, Queen, and Nirvana. “Who’s Nancy?” she asked, brows furrowing as the pointlessness of doing this over a show she didn’t watch hit her. Her expression soon relaxed when she realised how decent the playlist was. “Hey, Pat Benatar!” she perked up.

She leant back in her chair as she looked at the other agent, merely raising an eyebrow as she looked at the woman and waited for her to finish talking. “No.” she replied simply, “You break the law, there’s punishment. Not all of them end up like you.”
“That sounds like double standards,” V said lightly. It wasn’t that she wanted to get herself in trouble, or was ungrateful for the opportunity- just that it wasn’t fair she should be allowed to atone and not everyone. “Isn’t rehabilitation better than punishment?”

“My god, you’re right. Without you I might not make it much longer.” He said dramatically while placing a hand on his chest, closing his eyes, and tilting his chin upward. He then peeked one of his eyes open. “What’s your name again?” He said in a half-whisper, mocking the girl.
“I knew it. It isn’t my fault I’m so gorgeous and charming,” she sighed, as though it was a major inconvenience. V quirked an eyebrow, unable to keep the smirk off of her face. “Whatever you want it to be,” she retorted.
“I have no issue playing a Latina. I’m doing that now, but shedding light in a positive way and mocking these stereotypes we have of Latina women.”

J GAVE A SHRUG IN RESPONSE, not having had sex with an alien either. “you’d think the extra arms and other limbs would be useful but not even i’m ready to face a potential human/alien hybrid running around.” that and when it came to at least meaningful sex, if there was such a thing to be had, there didn’t seem to be a possibility of it. not when she had cut out everything and everyone of her previous life, and certainly not when she’d never be able to tell them the truth. “i’m almost disappointed i skipped being one of the people shipped off to the lab. almost. but i’d rather them be able to know i tote the same guns as the boys. whose gonna tell them?”
“Nobody said anything about hybrids, J. I’m nothing if not responsible. I haven’t had unprotected sex since I was 19,” V said, seriously. Her voice was a little louder than it should be, given the topic of conversation, but V was nothing if not shameful. “You’d be wasted down in the labs, J. We need you up here. We could always pay our boys a visit though. Give them a few pointers, maybe a demonstration or two.”

Agent O: Nancy Drew was a national hero, i'll take that as a compliment!!
Agent O: Do you want to meet up? I'm in research right now but I could come up and swing by the jamba! Nothing a little juice can't fix, am I right?
Agent V: It was a compliment!
Agent V: I'll be there in two. What are you drinking? It's on me.

Agent F: If I called you gorgeous the sixth circle of hell would open and swallow us all.
Agent V: Maybe you just have a stick up your ass?
Agent V: But it's a factual observation. I am gorgeous.
Agent V: As amusing as this is, what did you need?

“me too! and the runaways, and pretty much the rest of it. lot’s of really good, old music i’d never listen to otherwise.” she was more of a top forty girl herself. “there is some current music in there, too. it’s a massive playlist, like seventy songs.”
“That would take me months to get through,” chuckled V. She thought back to her days zooming across country in her crappy car with far too many miles on the clock. She would have devoured a 70 song playlist with driving time still to spare. “How do I do it?” she asked. Although she didn’t watch the show, she still wanted to know who she would get.

Z knew better than to argue with V. He gave a slight chuckle and followed her to the car. “Strictly recon, alright?” Z said as he got into the car. “Unless something comes up, and then you can save this old man’s ass,” he quipped. He took out his MIB sanctioned smartphone to check the details of the place they were going to - a wet market. “Anyways, it’s just a rumored venue where some Shirans are smuggling intergalactic goods, so it shouldn’t descend into chaos or anything.” He shut off his phone before adding, “Hopefully.”
“Recon, got it,” V flashed Z as innocent a grin as she could muster. As much as she preferred to be in the thick of the action, she wasn’t going to mess this up for him. “Don’t put yourself down, Z. You’re definitely more than capable of saving your own fine ass,” she clucked by way of reassuring him. She punched the elevator button for down so they could descend to the parking level, and leaned against the wall whilst she waited. “I’ve been out of the game too long, I had no idea the Shirans were smuggling these days.”

D often kept to himself, so when a person came to his desk he liked to enjoy the occassion. A smile of sorts crept onto his face as he looked at the woman. “If it were up to me, they’d be put to death.” He remarked, not paying mind to whether she might take it seriously or not.
“Hey now, that’s my friends you’re talking about,” V nudged him gently. it was clear she was teasing. She used to run with the kznitis, sure, but they were more acquaintances than anything. “By that logic I should be put to death too, but that would deprive you of the pleasure of my company every day.”

❝Huh?❞ Dubs quickly woke, a stack of folders falling onto the floor, which she quickly scooped up, but not before looking around rather like deer caught in headlights. Furrowing her brow as she attempted to wake herself. ❝Oh yeah? I am actually… wait you worked for them?❞ W suddenly had an interest, rolling her seat towards the other. ❝I mean… I’m sure we could work out some sort of deal with them that’s a bit uh… less harsh, sure…❞
Dubs piqued interest surprised V. She didn’t think her background was a secret from most agents, given that her recruitment was the result on an active case, at the time, but then, she had been here longer than Dubs had, so she supposed it stood to reason. “I used to do some smuggling for alien gangs back before all of this,” she explained, gesturing to their surroundings with a theatrical flair. “Drugs, weapons, all the heavy stuff. I’m just saying, if we can get them to cooperate, we should. They aren’t that bad.”
