I’ve been trying to reach out to conservatives for over a decade. I’ve been an advocate for LGBT rights since 2001. I grew up in a small town when more people were independents than republicans. My hometown was very middle ground but often leaned democratic or 3rd party. For the first time they voted heavily for Trump.
I myself am part of the LGBT community, I was raised by an ancestry that fled Europe, that was raised on a reservation where the US government tried to naturalize them. I’m a child of both privilege and suffering. I saw my great grandmother break into tears every time my family celebrated thanksgiving and my other great grandfather cry every Nov 9. I know what suffering looks like.
Now I myself am at the verge of suffering, watching as the nation uprises against a fascist leader and a racist and sexist country looking to destroy women and minorities before they rise to power. I watch as extremist conservatives ridicule the populace for peacefully protesting this abhorrent election. I watch as they call for the death of liberals. I watch as they threaten and attack Muslims and African Americans.
This country is a disgrace and it’s because of the hate movement. Liberals didn’t make you hate, you chose to do that. Liberals tried to work with and compromise with conservatives time and time again only to be blocked, denied, and told to put up with it. As they act like children we try to run a country. Now that they’ve won they start bullying and attacking their opposition.
Tell me, how is this not nationalist? How is this not fascist? How is this not hate? You try over and over to whitesplain the situation by excluding and excusing our situation and worries. You have never once had to protest anything. You’ve sat, benefiting off the privilege you’ve been given.
You accuse black people of being lazy and yet the largest section of the population on food stamps and welfare are white conservatives.
You accuse the millennials of being jobless basement dwellers even though you’ve sacked them with thousands in debt, a planet that is dying, a national debt they can’t recover, no housing, no jobs, and an impossible to get education that if they do get it will cost them as much as a home. Oh and you’ve skyrocketed the cost of home ownership, caused subprime mortgages, and the bank bailout.
I’m sorry, but you are the problem with America. I don’t want to blame you, but it’s hard not to when you won’t stop trying to oppress us. We thought this nation was great. We were trying to build our future and our children’s future but you’re selfish. You wanted the old times to come back. You wanted it to be the 1800s again when there were blue collar jobs, small town, racism, sexism, fear in the LGBT community, and white men controlled everything.
We built this and you’re destroying it because it’s not what you wanted. Why can’t you just be happy with what we’ve achieved? You all have super computers in our pockets and we made them. You all have Internet connecting everyone in the world and we made that happen. You hate the city people but who do you think made the things you enjoy? We aren’t an enemy, we’re just different. We should get along. I mean come on, Beyonce did an amazing performance honoring your country music and you spent the next week disrespecting and disgracing her for everything including being a woman and being black.
Most of all America... you need to get over your sexism. You hate women, it’s obvious and it’s harmful and it needs to stop. No matter what we cannot disregard what happened in this election that stemmed from sexism. I know that the majority of this country is not full of hate. I know we’ve made progress, but there are far too many people who still think women somehow deserve to be treated like objects.
Stop with the SJW rhetoric, that isn’t getting us anywhere. Not wanting to be treated like an object or be touched inappropriately or disrespected is basic human decency. You have the right to your opinion but if your opinion is simply for slander and disrespect it’s not worth anything.
