Mentions of: child abuse, speculated rape, suicidal ideation, suicidal attempts, self harm, and murder
Is likely the product of rape
often had to serve as the role of parent to his mother, taking care of her, making dinner, taking her to a mental health clinic to help her drug addiction/depression
mother killed herself when he was eight. (unsure how still - potentially drug overdose? - Akechi found the body.) Akechi was passed out from foster family to foster family after.
when he was 14, he awoke to the power of the Wild Card
approached shido and was offered a chance to 'work' for him; through shido he was shown how to cause mental shut downs. This is when he killed Wakaba on Shido's instructions/with his guidance.
events of the game and all happen
Things that? may go against fanon:
Akechi was never going to kill/hurt Shido. His true desire was always to be noticed by his father and to be seen as something valuable and irreplaceable. He told himself he was doing this to take revenge, because he didn't have to face the truth of his own desires. Coming face to face with the cognitive version of himself in Shido's palace forced him to realize that he never mattered and would never matter to his father.
Akechi escaped the standoff against his cognitive self through his power as the Wild Card, which was the same power that kept him from showing up on Futaba's scan; the distortion he could create to cause insanity affected even his cognitive self. He was badly wounded though, and the mental toll of the battle caused him to seek shelter at the same clinic he had taken his mother to all those years ago.
Escaping from Shido's palace left Akechi with a wound on his right side where cognitive Akechi's bullet hit him, and head trauma. The wound on his side healed but left a sizeable scar. The head trauma had created more long-lasting consequences.
in reality, Akechi is in a coma between the end of Shido's palace and roughly mid February
Maruki created a duplicate Akechi that first appeared on 12/24 as he did not know that Akechi had survived
this Akechi was forcibly joined into the real Akechi's mental and cognitive state on 2/3 - 2/4. This created a permanent fracture in his mind; attempting to think about the events between December and February causes intense pain, and bad weather can cause migraines that also bring with them hallucinations, both visual and auditory, due to the cognitive split.
Akechi was an intensely traumatized child trying to find love. He's now an intensely traumatized adult trying to cope with the reality of the decisions he made.
He has migraines quite frequently from the neurological trauma that was caused to his cognition.
Akechi is bipolar, which also greatly affected his behavior as he was never diagnosed prior to his probation. He struggles with the diagnosis, both from its stigma and from the 'out' it gives him in terms of the actions he did.
He is terrible at remembering to take his meds.
He has no idea who he is as a person as nearly his entire persona was a carefully constructed facade to make people like him. His likes, dislikes, hobbies... all of it was fake. Darts and billiards are things he still likes, but he's more of a thrill seeker, enjoying high-adrenaline activities like rock-climbing, sky-diving-- other things that i'll be able to add later.
SO UH YOU MADE IT HERE? Akechi... is in love with Joker. 100% with Sera's, like... still probably true with other Joker's, but just won't be acted upon as I'm actually really like haha afraid to write with other Joker's since I feel this Akechi probably doesn't jive with fanon. Other ships are fine, just like... bang on my door and tell me.
Also yeah write him being over 18 since this is assumed post canon unless stated otherwise.
Born June 2, 1998 (here is a post that details his history in more detail)
First seven years of his life were spent living with his mother in the Sanya, Tokyo
At seven his mother died from a drug overdose, one that was either purposeful or accidental. This would occur in 2005.
Between 7 and 14, he was bounced between various foster homes. Akechi often ran away to live on his own during this time, and engaged in less-than-legal methods to obtain money.
at 14, in 2012, he awoke as the Wild Card.
after awakening, he meets Wakaba. Wakaba performs experiments on him to learn about the Cognitive World. (here is a post about his relationship with Wakaba)
at 15, in 2013, Akechi finds his biological father. He does not reveal he is his child. Under Shido's guidance, he kills Wakaba.
From 15 to 18 (2013-2016), Akechi worked under the guidance of Shido to help Shido obtain political power.
June 10th, 2016, is the date that Akechi meets Joker for the first time
Between the dates of 7/26 and 10/29, Akechi's palace is available! This would be the time that infiltration could occur. If done, and his treasure is stolen, this would result in a change of heart and would result in some sort of alternate timeline where Akechi joins the Phantom Thieves. Depending on when this occurs, Haru's father may be killed by someone else to frame the Phantoms.
Somewhere between December 1 and December 15 is his showdown with the Phantoms. Akechi does not die; he is shot in the side with a wound that has a high mortality rate, and experiences head trauma during his escape from the palace.
If he is not found by someone after this, Akechi to a mental health clinic in Sanya that he often took his mother to. Because they recognize him, the staff takes him in. Akechi is in something close to a coma for several months after.
Going off the original ending of the game, Akechi would not awaken until February 3, 2017.
On December 24, 2016, a second version of Akechi is created by Maruki. This Akechi has all the memories of the real version, but is unaware of the fact that he is alive as Maruki does not know that. This version isn't killed on February 3, 2017, but instead forcibly rejoined with his actual self.
Upon awakening, Akechi seeks to contact Sae about the fact that he is alive. He makes a request to have his involvement kept a secret from Joker, and offers to testify in his stead. This helps free Joker, but results in Akechi being placed under intense scrutiny.
Between 3/10 and 3/20, Akechi's fate is determined. Because he was a minor, and still qualifies as one under Japanese Law (a minor was 20 or under until 2022), Akechi's involvement with Shido's conspiracies were locked from public record and he was placed under probation. His probation is to served under the guidance of one Sojiro Sakura - something that was Sae and Sojiro's idea, not his own. Akechi is forbidden from starting college for the year and is also forbidden from contacting Joker.
3/20/2017 - Akechi is being taken in for his final hearing, crossing behind the train platform the same time Joker is leaving. Joker can see him at this time.
Beginning on 4/1/2017, Akechi begins working at LeBlanc. Sojiro and Futaba know this. Futaba is also forbidden from telling Joker.
7/23/2017 - a day before the start of Strikers. If Joker arrives early, Akechi will still be working at LeBlanc that day, and the two would have a chance to meet. This could potentially involve Akechi in the events of Strikers.
7/24/2017 to 8/28/2017 - uh more TBA but during this time Akechi has a jail!!
8/29/2017 to 12/31/2017 - Akechi continues to work at LeBlanc. If Joker expresses a desire to move back to LeBlanc during this time, Akechi's probation isn't suspended but his monitoring is moved under Sae's guidance and he assists her in more of a paralegal role.
January to April 2018- Akechi prepares for college
April 2018- 2022 - Akechi studies and graduates at a local college in Tokyo.
