Sam Claflin for 7th Man Magazine (Autumn/Winter)
As the other shook his head, Kaeden offered a gentle smile, glad he was at least approved as decent company, “I’m not sure how good of company I’ll be, but I’ll at least be something to talk to” he murmured with a laugh. Holding his hand out in a sweeping motion, the brunette glanced toward the other, “lead the way…” he spoke with an easy tone, “I don’t think I’ve gotten your name yet though…that might be a good start”
"Trust me, for me, no company is bad company," trying to give the other a calm smirk, it ended up being an awkward wink. "I mean that.. uhm.. I mean that in a sincere way, you know." Copper quickly spun into his question, hoping all of that could have possibly gone unnoticed. That is, he hoped. "Yeah, that would probably help. I'm Copper. And you are?
So, what brings you to ya New York, Copper?
"New opportunities? And the fact I am too broke to go anywhere else."
Warren, but ya can call me Win if you really want to. It’s a nickname. I’ve had it for fucking forever.
"It's nice to meet you, Win. Copper is also a nickname for me. My name is actually Jeremiah. Family name and all."
"Dad’s first five hours in New York and he has just sworn in Norwegian thrice! Yay…"
"He must not be a fan of the traffic, huh?"
Flagging down a taxi is a definite art in the city. You’ll get it under control after a bit of time. For now, you just have to get in their face where they can’t drive past you. Want some help?
"Does it get any easier? You'd think after seven years I would have gotten used to this." He chuckled bashfully. "Some, uhm, some help would be great."
"Not at all" Kaeden shook his head, "I mean, you can say no if you want" he added with a laugh, hand lifting his drink to finish it off before tossing it into a nearby trashcan and then tucking both his hands into his hoodie pockets. The accent definitely pulled his attention, and the guy seemed nice, so offering didn’t bother Kaeden, he just hoped he didn’t sound creepy.
Copper couldn't shake his head fast enough, though he hoped his eager nature didn't become too apparent and too desperate. It wasn't enough he considered himself a virgin to social interaction, but to scare off his company in the first 10 minutes would really bum him out. "It'd be great - you know - it would be great to have someone walk with me for a change."
"Come on, dude, are you really nervous for good old Ray?" He asked, hands on hips as he laid against the car. "I won’t abduct you, though I totally would, I mean look at you." Perhaps he was using too much pick-up line…nah, they are never enough. "Anyhow, what’s your name?"
"N-Nervous? I'm not nervous - you.. you aren't going to kill me, are you?" his tone, he hoped, came out more in a teasing nature. Though, you could never be too certain in New York. Nestled in the back of his mind, his oh so simple mind, would it really be so bad to be attacked by someone this attractive? Copper quickly shook his head, trying to push it all into the back of his mind. "I'm, uhm, I'm Copper. And you are?"
Maybe it’s a sign you need to come with me…
"I-It is?"
If you dream enough and work hard enough, I think dreams are reachable.
"That’s hella creepy, dude" Kaeden laughed genuinely, bright smile accompanying the expression, "I would definitely avoid cabs just because of that”. “Well I’ll walk with you” the brunette offered, “it’ll be different I guess. I mean, I’m not entirely sure what good company I’d be, but-” he trailed off with a shrug.
For a moment, Copper wasn't sure how to react. He just wasn't quite used to people wanting to accompany him, or perhaps he couldn't take a hint even if someone did. The poor boy was pitiful at taking hints. "Well - uh," a smile curled at the corners of his mouth. "If you want. My apartment is a few blocks from here. If that's not a bother." His southern drawl definitely made him feel like he stuck out like a sore thumb.

"Well it’s a good idea" Kaeden mused with a nod, "I do everything I can to not take one, they make me uncomfortable, but whatever" he shrugged lazily, wondering what exactly made the other want to do the same. "How far are you trying to go? or just too lazy to walk?" the brunette questioned with a curious brow.
The man drew in his bottom lip, a nervous habit of his. He had been working hard to overcome that bashful nature, and he had to admit, he was making tremendous strides with it. "You know, since I've been here, I've only ridden in three cabs. All driven by the same man. I think he may be stalking me." Copper let a gentle chuckle escape with a single breath. "Ah, nah- uhm, no. I usually walk, but I wanted to try something different today"
"Oh! That’s… a French part… isn’t it? Of the states." He felt like such a fool. "You must be here for business…?"
For a split second, he had no idea what the other was talking about. Biting the corner of his mouth, hoping it was the correct answer. "I never ventured out of New Orleans - " Copper felt a bit relieved when he sprung up with another question. "Nah- uhm, no. I moved here about seven years ago."
"You’re from.. where it’s warm?" He tries to detect an accent but had always been rubbish at it. "Yes, you should, you wouldn’t like to be sick."
The man ruffled his hair a little, watching the young man out of the corner of his eye. "Warm is an understatement for where I'm from -" he paused a moment just to clear his throat. "I'm from, uhm, I'm from Louisiana."
