“Nooo thanks.” Little bit of character there, looking back up to him because the weight of his hand is comforting. “Not…bothering…Aiden?” She says, expressing the thought that she’s being a bit of a bother to him by the way she’s acting.

Aidan laughed softly, “I figured not but wanted to offer anyway” he smiled down at her shaking his head slightly, “but you’re not bothering me at all. I’m glad I can be here for you when you need someone” he lightly brushed her hair from her face and tucked it behind her ear before rubbing her back reassuringly

When she feels the fingertip run down her spine she does one of two things: Another set of squirms or a shudder. Her spinal area can be a bit sensitive, and while his actions are comforting the motions do tend to activate the nerves. 

“Just…not…well.” She tries to say, tapping on her hips to keep her mind focused on the TV and not the awareness of his touch. “Woke…hurting.”

He sighed softly concerned, “well that’s not good. I do have some pain meds if you’d like to try them to see if they help.” he glanced down at her, his hand now just resting gently on her shoulder not wanting to bother her more and knowing his fingers teasing her spine like that would make just about anyone shiver uncomfortably.

He looked down at her concerned, shifting slightly closer to let her head rest on his leg a little if she wanted it to as he began to rub her shoulder with a gentle hand, “would you like to talk about it? Or just sit here a while?”

His leg moved. She lifts her head and sets it back down automatically on his leg. Squirms a little when pet, cheek resting ‘gainst his pant leg. “…Sit.” She says, though technically she’s not sitting and she’s okay wit that.

Aidan nodded slightly and continued to watch the t.v. with her, “well if you change your mind I’ll listen” he continued to lightly rub her back, occasionally running his fingertip down her spine slightly before going back to just rubbing her back.

A light touch was felt on her head as he sat beside her to watch as well, “you okay?”

Small shake of the head, though its slight beneath his touch. Mouse chases cat ‘cross the screen, and her attention is pulled by him sitting besides her.

With a soft whimper of complaint she places her head by his leg, just barely touching it, eyes still on the screen…but its nice to know that someone nice is near.

He looked down at her concerned, shifting slightly closer to let her head rest on his leg a little if she wanted it to as he began to rub her shoulder with a gentle hand, “would you like to talk about it? Or just sit here a while?”

“You can take your medication like you are supposed to.” The nurse said and held out a small cup of pills to the patient.

Aidan made a face but then did as told with a grin before showing her his mouth to prove he swallowed them, “happy now? Those taste terrible by the way”

“I like being nice. Being mean gets you no friends and nowhere.” She finishes the page, flipping it over and looking back up to him as his hand moves…pets her hair. Initial stiffness, but she relaxes. He’s been really nice to her, after all–she can tell that he’ll be someone that will not hurt her or be super mean. “Mhm.” Someone around when you need them? That sounded like a wonderful idea. It was very, very rare someone offered that.

“I’m not as strict about it. I’ll be nice if you deserve it. But I’m also the last person you want to cross. Not that you really need to worry about that part though” he smiled at her softly, his hands folded in his lap as he leans back against the wall and closes his eyes chuckling, “can’t say I’m really the best role model. Especially considering why I’m here.”

‘Well, I know I can talk, but its not so easy to sometimes. Sometimes I can control it, sometimes…nope.’ She’ll give pause after writing, taking in the rest of his words, her gaze, shyly flickering up to him, expression almost questioning. “You…right person…then?” Wavery, whispery words, as if they didn’t want to be spoken for fear of angering him in any way.

Aidan nodded slightly, “I understand. Well don’t force yourself then. I don’t mind.” he thought a moment about what she said then smiled softly, “sure. I wouldn’t mind you being around. You’re nice. It’s difficult to find that nowadays. Especially from teens.” he reached over to lightly pet her head as he smiled at her, “I could be like a brother to you if you want. Make sure you have someone around when you need them”

“Maybe try a breath mint. And a shower, ey?” Markus chuckled.

“well aren’t you  the funny one. Showering is awkward when they stare at you to make sure you don’t take the towels. Guess they’re afraid I’ll strange somebody with em. Either way I did that yesterday. And brushed my teeth this morning thank you very much sir.” he added the sir with a sarcastic tone

She smiled softly and rubbed her arm. “i’m terribly sorry.” She looked up at the man, not quite recognizing him. “I suppose it is very…unpredictable here.” She ran her fingers through her pale blonde hair and swallowed hard. “I don’t believe I’ve seen you before. Who are you?” She raised an eyebrow, curiously.

Aidan shook his head, “it’s alright. Mistakes happen. It’s common. But my name is Aidan. I’m a patient here. Arrived about a week ago. And who might you be miss..?” he trailed off to let her finish

The librarian gives a nod. “Good choices perhaps I could interest you in some others? Ones with similar characteristics and tone?” He was planning on keeping the subject away from the whole bomb making thing.

Aidan thought a moment and then shrugged, “alright. Sounds good. What have you got around here that’s good?”

Despite the question, he catches her with radiant smile, almost laughing. Nobody ever called her cute. People have told her she’s had a cute name but never has anyone considered her that way. “Long time.” She chirps in her little voice, pulling her legs up and adjusting her book accordingly, scribbling in it a bit before turning it back to him. ‘Papa’d say that I was stupid and nobody’d want me so he got momma to put me here. Nobody here calls me stupid and people here want to be my friend so its okay im here so long ‘cause now i have friends and papa was wrong.’

Its very rare to catch the blonde in such a mood from a compliment, but he’s kinda pretty and he has a nice smile and she feels all fluttery inside and thats what she thinks helps her smile at the moment.

Aidan chuckled softly at her smiling. He always loved to make people smile, especially the ones who needed it the worst. To what she wrote he sighed and tapped his fingers on his knee, “well from what I’ve seen here you’re not stupid. And it’s good to know you really can talk. And that’s a very good way to look at this. He was very wrong. It’s not that nobody would want you. It’s that you were just around the wrong people”

  “That…that’s very good. Robert Frost. Correct?” He comments on the poetry. As for the whole, knowing how to make a bomb. Not so good. He’d have to inform the rest of the staff about this one.

Aidan nodded slightly with a smile, “’Fire and Ice’, yes. A personal favorite. As is ‘The Road Not Taken’ and most of Frost’s works. Another favorite is The Raven by Poe.”

‘Namine. My name is Namine.’ She turns back to her book, and after a few page flips she goes back to her writing page and adds, ‘Been here four months.’ She lets him sit, thinking nothing of it because he gives her space. She tucks her hair behind her ear. He seems nice, and he has the kind of face where she’d not know if there was anything below the skin, at least that she thinks of.

Aidan smiled softly, “Namine huh.” he shrugged slightly as his smile brightened a little, “fitting. A cute name for a cute girl. Four months thought. That seems long in a place like this. Are you here because they say you have something wrong with you or do you agree with them?” he was curious but wouldn’t push her about why. He knew a good number of people here had terrible lives and went through a lot to cause whatever had gotten them in here.

He gives a shake to his head. “No no. We wouldn’t have any books like that here. I..I’m sorry?” That didn’t seem like a practical thing to have at all. “Buy that I meant..we have a decent amount…” Unfortunately, not everything could be made available to patients. He supposed. 

  “Per-perhaps you would enjoy some Keats? You..seem like you’d like to read poetry.”

Aidan smiled, “well that’s alright. I already know how to do that so it’s fine.”

to the poetry comment he smiled, “Some say the world will end in fire. Some say in ice. From what I’ve tasted of desire. I hold with those who favor fire. But if it had to perish twice, I think I know enough of hate. To say that for destruction ice. Is also great. And would suffice”

She’ll give him a quiet look, lips pursed. Deer in headlights as he walks over and gives her…a softer smile. Well. That doesn’t soothe the anxiety in her chest completely but does give her initial opinion something different. While watching him, her hands already have the sketchbook from her left side on her lap and open to a new page, writing quickly with a brief thoughtful expression before turning it to face him. Not once had she looked down.

‘Hello Aiden. I’ve been here few months. Like to stay to self in art room. You new too?’

Aidan nodded slightly, “I’ve been here about a week now. May I ask your name?” he smiled gently at her as he moved to sit beside her, leaving some space between them to not be crowding her as he watched her hands with the sketchbook.

 “I….” He knew his hearing was not the best now but..well he really hoped that he heard that wrong.

Aidan grinned with a dark chuckle, “you heard me. You said you had quite the selection of books. I figured it wouldn’t hurt to ask if you had one for bomb making.” he shrugged with a smile
