Both sessions have various games that Ryuji plays with his guests.

Session 01 revolves around Ryuji’s 2.5D activities/activities with Mackey, Maashi and his other fellow 2.5D actors. Highlights include Ryuji revealing his baby photo, stories about Ryuji from his early 2.5D productions, like the “Musical The Prince of Tennis” (Tenimyu), and the feeling of what Ryuji, Mackey and Maashi are probably like when the cameras aren’t rolling during the shooting of Rokumachi.  

Session 02 is intimate and personal (with a smaller venue capacity), starting off with a DJ session of songs that Ryuji has sung throughout his career, including “Gakuen Tengoku” (from “FIVE”) and “MIENAI START”. Satoshi-kun and Gouki-kun are friends who Ryuji hangs out with quite regularly in private, and this comes across very strongly during this session. Highlights include all three of them dressing like their characters from “HiGH&LOW” but just being their chaotic selves.

[NEWS UPDATE] RooK: Sato Ryuji and Okamiya Kurumu will be Having an Online Live Stream to Commemorate the Release of “RooK”

“RooK” is the name of the collaborative project with Sato Ryuji and Okamiya Kurumu. They are producing Bluetooth earphones which includes notifications featuring a recording of their voices. It also comes with a photobook featuring the both of them.

The earphones are currently on limited pre-order until August 11, 2022.

Punio passed away in 2020, and you can read Ryuji's Tweet about it: HERE

Prior to announcing it on Twitter, Ryuji actually talked about Punio's passing during the first day of "The Brow Beat Live Tour 2020 Adam" but told the fans not to say anything outside of the hall until he was ready to tell the rest of us directly from he, himself.

The night before his passing, Punio was still playing with Mochio, and when Ryuji took Punio to have him checked out by the vet, they didn't know why he had passed away. He was still young (only 2 years old) and was healthy and well.

Fan reports from the performance also mentioned how Ryuji talked about his regrets that he didn't do more for Punio and also expressed his longing for Punio to come back to life. During that performance, he dedicated "Tourou Nagashi" to Punio.

Fans also speculated that Ryuji was likely observing the 49th day of Punio's passing when, at the end of "Suiren" during the final performance for "The Brow Beat Live Tour 2020 Adam", he softly whispered, "Good night."

NOTE: In Japanese tradition, the 49th day of someone's passing indicates the end of the mourning period.

In an interview he did after his announcement of Punio's passing on Twitter, he mentioned how, when he first lost Punio up to the point he announced it on Twitter, every time he thought of Punio, he'd cry. And, Mochio, who had just lost his big brother, would cry out loudly for Ryuji whenever Ryuji showered (which left Mochio alone in the room).

Rest in peace, Punio, and may he watch over Ryuji, Mochio and Miruta from kitty heaven ♥

Hello! If it isn't a bother, could I ask for your own interpretation on the possible meanings behind Kashuu's character song in Toumyu's Bakuten rerun, Akakihana Chirimagou? Personally, I think that Toumyu tends to use flowers as a metaphor for human lives. I also think that the nighttime is used as a metaphor for death and the end of an era. I know that Toumyu likes to keep meanings open for headcanons, but I would love to know your own thoughts! It's a beautiful and powerful song.

Thank you for your message! It's been a while since I've looked closely at the meanings behind the songs and themes of "Musical Touken Ranbu ~Bakumatsu Tenrouden~ 2020", so I had a lot of fun with this! xD "Akaki Hana Chirimagau" is such a beautiful and powerful song ♥

My personal thoughts in how I interpret the metaphors you've mentioned run close to yours (Yay for Toumyu headcanons!), and please find an elaboration of this under the cut.

The Red Flower: Kashuu Kiyomitsu

As a character, Kiyomitsu has always been associated with flowers in Toumyu, described as "the crimson rose that bloomed by the riverbank" in his character establishing line in "Touken Ranbu". This motif is carried forward in "Akaki Hana Chirimagau", which, as stated in the title, talks about a red flower that falls and scatters.

It is also interesting to note that the form used for the word "red" in this song is "あかき" (not "赤い"). In this form, the word is commonly used in the phrase "赤き心", which means "true/sincere/faithful heart". So, "あかき花" can be read as the "true/sincere/faithful flower", which tells us about Kiyomitsu as a character. 

The reason why I think Kiyomitsu is associated with flowers builds on your metaphor of "flowers = human lives". Even though Kiyomitsu is a sword, his life is actually closer to that of a human's than a sword's. This becomes especially important in "Bakumatsu Tenrouden" as it is the main point of contrast between him and Yamatonokami Yasusada.

Because he has experienced "death" like a human, Kiyomitsu understands the inevitability of death, the inevitability everything good cannot last for eternity (symbolised by day time). And that, eventually, just like how day will turn to night, it will all come to an end (which also ties in to your interpretation of how "night = end of an era/death"). This understanding can also be seen in "Noraneko Nihiki" where he tells Yasusada that "the night, the dark, it will definitely come, that's something that will never change".

Like a Sparkler: Kashuu Kiyomitsu the "Human" Sword

I've always loved how Toumyu is very aware of the era that Kiyomitsu is forged in, and how this awareness can be seen in the way Kiyomitsu is portrayed and packaged.

In "Akaki Hana Chirimagau", the idea that Kiyomitsu's life is more like a human's than a sword's is further emphasised with the use of the imagery of the sparkler. The sparkler is a hand-held type of firework that became popular in Japan during the Edo period (the period that Kiyomitsu was forged in) because the use of gunpowder for war was decreasing.

(Other examples: During the "Musical Touken Ranbu Kashuu Kiyomitsu Tanki Shutsujin 2017", a kanzashi and kushi set was included as merch. This is a very explicit reference to love and romance during the Edo period. More information about this can be found at this post: HERE )

Besides that, similar to the flower, in Japan, the sparkler is often seen as a symbolism of life and the ephemerality of life. So, it probably comes to no surprise that the Japanese use flowers to symbolise the different stages of the sparkler, which is what the lyrics talk about throughout the song.

蕾 (tsubomi): Like the bud of a flower before it blooms, the sparkler glows and ignites, symbolising the start of life.

牡丹 (botan): The sparks scatter, symbolising the period of youth where people move forward while hesitating as they try out different things.

松葉 (matsuba): The sparks look like pine needles as they gain strength and momentum, symbolising the many milestones of life.

散り菊 (chirigaku): Like the scattered petals of the chrysanthemum, as the fire of the sparkler slowly dies, it symbolises the last quiet years of life as death approaches.

Sword and Master: Kashuu Kiyomitsu and Okita Souji

"Akaki Hana Chirimagau" also becomes the song that "Asagi-iro Sakura" is built on.

"Asagi-iro Sakura" tells of Yasusada's point of view of Okita Souji, his and Kiyomitsu's former master. While it's interesting to me in how Toumyu tends to directly parallel Kiyomitsu and Okita, even more interesting is that this parallel is usually at its strongest in how Yasusada looks at Okita.

Throughout the musical, whenever Yasusada sings about Okita, he is actually also singing about Kiyomitsu, and this culminates in "Asagi-iro Sakura". By tying it directly to "Akaki Hana Chirimagau" (in its melody and imagery), it reinforces how closely intertwined Kiyomitsu and Okita is in Yasusada's mind.

Because we are mostly told about it from Kiyomitsu's point of view, on the surface, Yasusada wanting to be by Okita's side at Ikedaya seems to be entirely about his attachment to Okita. But in that moment, it is revealed to us that, for Yasusada, it was never only about Okita; to Yasusada, being at Ikedaya also meant being by Kiyomitsu's side, being there for Kiyomitsu, when Kiyomitsu broke.

(This also builds on 2016's "Bakumatsu Tenrouden" where Yasusada says to Okita, "I'm glad to have been your sword. It is thanks to you that I was able to meet that guy.")

Additionally, tying both those songs together gives us an insight into Kiyomitsu's own point of view of how he views himself and Okita. Yasusada defines himself and Kiyomitsu by their similarities to Okita (symbolised by the colour "blue", which is used to represent both Yasusada and Okita). But, Kiyomitsu tends to separate himself from Okita (symbolised in Kiyomitsu's "red" to Okita's "blue") even though they are similar (as seen in how they are both symbolised by "flowers that bloom in the night").
