unrequited prongstail started early. like ten eleven twelve early, as soon as they became friends peter was just very enamored by all james potter is (valid) though it took him a few years to piece together if it was a crush or envy (it was both) (it is both) (he was around thirteen).

james wants sirius. same love at first sight bullshit but like... more. james is very possessive imm & sirius likes having someone he can call home so he really thinks it's all mutual obsession (it is, just in different ways) and just falls even harder for him.

james' possessiveness strikes in around fifth/sixth year (whenever you hc he ran away) when sirius starts developing a crush on peter. sirius doesn't view romantic bonds stronger than platonic bonds necessarily, james is, was, and always will be his first priority, but james doesn't get that. sirius likes peter because he's the only one who didn't change a lot post-running away, he's the same person he always was and sirius values that stability when everything else in his life is going haywire.

but peter doesn't like him he likes james, and he's also emotionally intelligent enough to know that james likes sirius, so he plays with it a little. let's sirius chase him and want him and even, maybe, respect him. dates sirius just to prove to james i'm not inferior, i could be your equal too but james potter is THE most emotionally unstable person in the WORLD when it comes to sirius black and just . cuts peter off. which means sirius and him hang out less. which means sirius ditches peter in .2 seconds to go be with james again. which means james has won. but like he's only playing w himself because peter never wanted sirius & sirius would've chosen james over peter like at any circumstance whatsoever. he's a little silly when he gets jealous

james and sirius are so funny because the second the person they’re in a relationship with claims they're, “too close to each other” they break up with them because frankly james and sirius aren’t close enough if you ask them!

Whenever sirius gets really sad and doesn’t want to show his emotions he just transforms into Padfoot, crawls into James’ lap, and lets himself feel everything whilst he gets head and belly scratches from the man he loves.

James is very open to showing his emotions, but one time he really hits rock bottom and just feels horrible and he can’t stand to be seen at that moment, and so he goes to Sirius’ bed, and transforms into prongs so he can lay in Sirius’ lap and get pets from the man he loves, which Sirius’ is more than happy to do.

Except Prongs is a huge fucking stag and their dorm beds are tiny and so Remus and Peter walk into the room to see antlers poking out of Sirius’ bed curtains and hooves hanging off the end of the bed, and they take a peek inside to find them both passed out asleep, with Prongs half on top of Sirius getting a good snuggle.

It really does make James feel so much better though, and he laughs at the picture his friends took of them like that, keeps it in his wallet.
