Konoha raised AU Zila đ
Lost Your Way
(Word count: 600)
Zila could remember exactly how she felt the day she finally decided she would in fact become a medic: terrified.
Gaara had another one of his outbursts.
Sunagakure had grown accustomed to the sand flying, but never the blood. Never the loss of life. As if the cuts on the number of Shinobi by the Lord who owned the village was not enough, the Fourth Kazekage had created within his youngest son a monster, which was taking the lives of innocents left and right.
The night Yashamaru was murdered by his own nephew, Zila was ten, helping out Lady Chiyo in the greenhouses where many of the medical nin spent their spare time. There was chatter coming from the door as two apothecaries watched the sand over a distant rooftop dance in contrast with the pale moon. Zila had gotten up from her work to observe it herself, but was only able to see the sand, in the formation of a giant drilling needle in the sky for a split second before it fell to the ground with a thud.
The medics all returned to work, except Zila, the dumb child.
She ran up the street, toward where she had witnessed the spectacle, only to find the body of an ANBU Black Ops agent, one of the ones sent on special missions straight from the Kazekage himself, lying dead in a pool of his own blood. Sand surrounded him, leaving his corpse in what seemed to be a loose crater.
He was already goneâŠ
As she knelt down beside him to pay respects to the ninja, she could make out the light footfalls of a child, and much to her dismay, when she glanced over her shoulder, it was him. Temari's little brother, the One Tail Jinchuuriki, Gaara of the Sand, was approaching her. The six-year-old's forehead bled as if it had a purpose; love. That was what he himself had drilled into the skin there above his left eye.
She stood, heart pounding in her chest.
"H-hello," the young student choked out, as the little boy only stared with a twisted curiosity.
"Why do you weep for Yashamaru?"
"I⊠I don't think anyone deserves to die⊠Not like this."
"Is that so? What about me, do I deserve to die?"
"No."
"But I kill."
"You have lost your way." And Zila truly believed that. You can be born any which way, sick, healthy, poor, wealthy, even harboring a demon, but you still deserved love.
She believed everyone was a product of their surroundings. While she herself was an orphan, she was lucky to have a support system around her⊠this boy had nothing, and she knew it. She had seen it, the few times she and Temari had played in the yard behind the Kazekage's estate.
"No⊠I found it." Those words struck a chord within her, and she felt the hair on the back of her neck stand on end.
"No you haven't."
"In order to feel alive, others must die. I have no other purpose."
Her mind was reeling at his statement. "That is not true! Your purpose is for you to decide, not the ones who created you."
The boy seemed to ponder for a moment, and Zila took that as an opening to start backing away from him. Should he really decide to continue this murderous rampage, she would not be around to witness it.
She would however, be around to help the healing process. Any who were wounded at the hands of the monster possessing this poor boyâŠ
She would be damned if more ended up like Yashamaru.

The Naruto Shippuden AU RolePlay between @darcowrites and I is going strong, but activity has been moved elsewhere. The index is still being updated regularly, and is available here for anyone interested.
Kakashi Hatake from Naruto loves you unconditionally !!!!
To all those who have hit me up to role play, as well as those I have hit up, this is my Naruto OC, and her biography⏠đ¶Name: Zila Hatake đ¶Age: 17 (as pictured) her age will vary; I prefer to role play as her older self during her Akatsuki ark (18-21) and the next iteration (Defecting at 21-25) đ¶Birthday: April 17 â đ¶Association: Born in Konohagakure, raised in Sunagakure. Akatsuki memeber. đ¶Family: Kakashi (father) đ¶Height: 5'6" đ¶Weight: 140lbs đ¶Eye Color: Black đ¶Hair Color: Strawberry Blond đ¶Sexuality: Straight đ¶Personality: Gullible, kind, funny, likeable. Gets upset easily, and doesnât understand when somebody doesnât like her. đ¶Biography: It is assumed that when Zila was born, her mother passed away. Kakashi brought her to Sunagakure, and left her to an orphanage, knowing he couldnât care for her alone, and also, to keep her out of the unrest in the Land of Fire. She grew up and attended the ninja academy, befriending the Sand Siblings, and graduating two years before them. She had an affinity for Medicine and began manufacturing her own groundbreaking healing jutsus, some so dear to her that she refused to teach them. She took the Chunin Exams in Iwagakure, and was spotted by a younger Deidara, who would later recommend her to Pain in the Akatsuki. Upon passing her exams, Zila refused the ANBU and began doing jobs and volunteering in the relief efforts against the rising war. On her way back from a mission in Otogakure, she was intercepted by Deidara, Pein and Zetsu, who recruited her into the Akatsuki for her special healing abilities. As the only non S-Class ninja of the organization, she felt extremely helpless and out of place among the criminals, but Deidara, Hidan, Kisame, and Kakuzu helped make her feel more welcome. Eventually, she found her place in the folds, staying for two years before the death of Deidara caused her to defect. She returned to Sunagakure, acting as though she had escaped kidnappers, and was welcomed home with open arms, slipping back into society unnoticed.

Zilaâs breath hitched, and she began to back away from her opponent, trying to distance herself from him as he assumed his stance. No. No, she had to stop. No backing down. No showing weakness. She planted her feet onto the stone, clenched her fists, and focused her chakra down to her hands.
Closing her eyes, she felt the energy flow.
The small crowd of observers watched quietly as the two stood off.
Waiting.
Kisame was going to let her make the first move.
⊠⊠Now! Her eyes snapped open and suddenly she was missing from where she had been previously.
Pein searched around to find her, seemingly unmoved but silently impressed. She could really move.
In that split second, the Kunoichi had seeming teleported above Kisame, wound up for a mighty punch. Her fist cocked back was glowing brightly blue with chakra. Whatever she hit with that was surely going to feel it.
She sailed down quickly at Kisame, her fist flying forward and aiming for his big, blue, asshole head.
She was no longer scared, she knew she was agile enough to dodge any swing from that heavy sword he planned to fight her with, no matter how exhausted she was.
@akatsuki-healer
In a blink, the new recruit was gone. Smart enough to not take the hulling shark man on all at once, he realized.
A mere breath of movement licked the back of Kisameâs neck, his hair rising. Instinctively, his torso turned, swinging his wrapped sword to connect with the chakra-infused fist. The sound rang out and seemed to chatter in his hand, the hilt reverberating slightly with the power behind the attack.
It brought a grin to his lips. His turn.
âSamehada!â He shouted out the name of his sword, the white wrapping shredding as he pushed back the attacking ninja with a swing. Black scales rippled along where a wide blade would have been, drawing in some of the blue chakra from Zilaâs fist.
@darcowrites
Boy was she wrong. How did he know where she was?
Zila gasped as the blade struck her hand. Her arm bent an uncomfortable direction, and she whimpered slightly at the feeling of her chakra being siphoned out of her. She acted quickly, throwing her feet ahead of her and kicking Kisame in the chest to push herself away from him.
The Kunoichi landed a few feet back from her opponent, taking a knee, and looking at her hand. That blade... It wasn't any like any sword she had ever seen before. The scales left multiple slices on her knuckles, and she felt weaker, having lost chakra to it. She would have to calculate her moves much more carefully now...
She gathered chakra back into her hand to begin healing the wounds there, her eyes locked on Kisame's. Perhaps a ranged approach would better suit this battle... If he couldn't hit her, she wouldn't lose chakra to him.
She reached into the pouch on her leg, her fingers hovering over three paper bomb tagged kunai, and waited to see if Kisame would make any advance on her...

Zila followed behind Pein, keeping her head low, but stopped momentarily to look back at Deidara. He was standing at the edge of the cliff looking out over glowing landscape as it was beginning to become illuminated by the dawn. The rising sun barely poked above the horizon, but itâs light was enough to turn Deidara into a mere silhouette, slender and tall. It was actually quite picturesque.
When he turned around, smiling, she actually felt something in her chest, a weird feeling. It was low in her diaphragm and her breath hitched. Shaking her head, she turned around once more to catch up to Pein.
As the trio descended, Zila attempted to take in her surroundings, but it just seemed to be a winding cave with many corridors and rooms. Was Gaara in one of these rooms, she wondered?
It was dimly lit, but seemed well lived in and quite surprisingly, furnished. This wasnât just a meeting place, these people were living here⊠And she would be too now, it seemed.
The deeper they went, it seemed as though this cave wasnât a natural formation, but rather the group had carved it to their liking, and she was quite intrigued by it.
Pein led them up to a particularly large doorway, and turned to Zila, saying, âIt is time for you to meet the rest of us.â This caused her throat to tighten up slightly, but she nodded anyway, knowing she had no choice.
@akatsuki-healer
Deidara flashed a quick smile and peace sign to the new recruit. Ducking ahead of Pein, he pushed the large door open and disappeared inside the ominous room. Thin wisps of mist pooled out around the ankles of Pein and Zila from within.
The other Akatsuki members were already waiting, looking down on the scene from stone pedestals on a large monument, shaped to look like hands with their palms towards the inky cavern heavens above. Each stood upon the tip of a large finger. With a few high leaps, he took his place atop one of the many, towering sculptures.
âTook you long enough,â grumbled a tall figure on the hand opposite of Deidara, a large weapon slung over his shoulder and a peek of razor sharp teeth in his mouth.
Itachi stared from the corner of his eyes at Deidara, keeping his face tucked behind his cloak. For once he had to disagree with his partner⊠Regardless of his distaste for Deidara, he had to admit, the fact that they had returned with this healer in a single night was quite a feat.
The hush of the cavern returned when Zetsu hopped up out of the darkness from behind everyone, taking his own spot. He must have emerged from the ground in the shadows, but it seemed as though he had appeared out of thin air.
As Pein pushed the large doors open, everyone gazed forward. He ushered Zila in ahead of himself, and she immediately felt like the smallest creature on the planet, under a microscope. She raised her eyes to look at the enormous stone hands and the people upon them, but didnât pick her head up. She noticed four empty spots. Did this mean members were missing? How many criminals were involved here? Only ten? Questions stirred around her mind and made her dizzy, but she focused all of her energy on walking up to the pair of arms in the center of the room, where her new leader was taking her.
Pein arrived at the pedistal and stood opposite the recruit, casting his gaze upon her once more. She seemed to shrink into herself, looking down towards the pair of hands instead of up at those haunting eyes.
âZila Hatake. In order to take your place among our ranks, you must swear allegiance to the Akatsuki and its goals. You must vow never to compromise your partner or any fellow member by any means.â Zila felt her heartbeat rising. The previous day she hadnât even known the correct name of this criminal organization. Now she was being forced into it.
âYou must never reveal any information about the Akatsuki to anyone who does not bear one of the ten rings,â Pein announced, gesturing with one hand to the two unclaimed rings on the pedistal, and gesturing with the other up towards the six cloaked silhouettes above them.
âI have no choice,â Zila whispered as she watched him pick up one of the rings, a purple gem with the character âjewelâ engraved upon it. Peinâs eyes met hers again as he reached out for Zilaâs left hand. She was shaking as she raised it, allowing him to turn her palm facing in and slip the ring onto her left thumb. It was unsettling how perfectly it fit.
âSwear,â Pein ordered.
âI⊠I swear,â she responded softly, shutting her eyes. She felt a tremendous weight on her that she could only identify as shame. But it was hard to tell, as she had never felt this much beforeâŠ
@akatsuki-healer
Kisame watched this curiously from behind a calculating expression on his blueish skin. The woman below seemed like she could be knocked over with a feather, her face fallen. Her body tense. Being a cautious being from his experiences, Kisame fogired that hed have to go have a little chat with the new recruit to get a better guage on what she was there for. And If he needed to eliminate the weak link in the Akatsukiâs chain. It wouldnt be the first time heâd had to dispose of a member of his own organization to preserve Intel. Preserve the upper hand.
With all that in mind, the shark ninja hopped down from his high perch to meet this âZilaâ person.
âLooking a little pale, doesnât she, Pein?â
Deidara also fell beside them, dusting off his cloak.
âAh, lay off, Kisame. Sheâs impressed, Iâm sure.â
Pein nodded as Zila swore her oath quietly. He then lifted his gaze towards the others and nodded at them, silently adjourning the initiation. Zetsu had already disappeared and Itachi was quite uninterested in the new recruit. She wouldnât last long⊠He would much rather busy himself with breakfast, and headed down to go topside.
Zila lifted her head to meet Deidara, but was taken aback by the man next to him. He looked like⊠A shark? He had an enormous sword slung on his back and rows of pointed teeth in his mouth. She tried her best to ignore that one as the pair approached. His comment made her stiffen up her shoulders and realize how bad her posture had been all night long.
âKisame, donât forget, this one isnât a criminal. Yet,â Pein responded nonchalantly, turning to wave Konan down to meet him, and walking away from the gathering.
Zila kept her gaze fixed on Deidara as the very normal looking Itachi slipped by them and through the door. Why couldnât he be the one who wanted to talk to her? He seemed like a very average, nice guy⊠Not a shark at allâŠ
âThat was⊠Much quicker than I had expected, Deidara,â she said, trying to break the silence. She looked down at the ring on her hand and pondered the meaning behind âjewel.â
@akatsuki-healer
Konan came down to Peinâs side and walked with him away from the unfolding scene:
Deidara shrugged his shoulders and let them drop, noting how Zilaâs gaze was kept low and fixed on her ring. Rather than at anyone else. âMmm. Well, some members are busy and couldnât make it. Not to mention that picking you up was a bit rushed.â
Kisame perked a eyebrow at that. âYou made a mess of it, didnât you, Deidara?â
âHeh! Hardly. My bomb bats were working /perfectly/, alright? She just didnât need much convincing, thatâs all, hm!â
Curious. âAnd you didnât have to rough her up? How do you know sheâs got the right skills for this world-â
âZetsu said her Regeneration jutsu wasââ
â âA brilliant demonstration,â yeah, he made that quite clear. But weâre not running a hospital,â the shark ninja gritted out, crossing his arms. His beady eyes snapped to Zila. âI need to know that you can hold your own on the battlefield.â
âShe hasnt slept in, like, a dayââ Deidara started with a somehwat nervous, somewhat amused chuckle, eyes flicking between the two.
âTough shit. Weâre doing this, now.â
Konan listened intently, whispering to Pein, âIs that such a good idea?â
@darcowrites
Pein shrugged without looking back to watch. "Kisame has the best of the organization in mind. If she really is meant to be here, she will pass whatever test he has in store," he responded quietly. "Regardless, please have a uniform ready for her if she comes out of this alive." The pair reached the cave wall, and Pein turned finally to watch Zila's response to Kisame's challenge, leaning back against the stone.
Zila snapped her head up at the other's words, her mouth fallen slightly agape. She searched her mind for something to say to him, but was drawn a blank. She wasn't getting out of this one... "H-here? Should we..?" She gestured towards the doors. "Go somewhere more... Open?" She finally got the sentence out.
The Kunoichi dug deep into her memories and tried to resurface a version of herself that used to scrap daily, back when the Sand village encouraged more violent behavior from their trainees. Her breathing slowed down slightly as she convinced herself that if she pretended it was just a spar with a fellow Shinobi, she would make it. And if she did well enough... This shark bastard would let her live.
A wave of calm washed over her and she looked at Deidara, who seemed almost genuinely worried for her. She must have been mistaken... She gave him a very tired, but... Real smile.

âDeidara didnât speak again until after they had flown above the clouds and well out of sight of any ninja in the forest below. He didnât want to admit that he may have gone a tiiiiiiiiny bit overboard with the explosives on the ground, but at least they had made a clean getaway. As for the fate of the boy⊠Glancing over his shoulder, he noted how the new recruit gripped at his clay bird with white-knuckled intensity, her face clearly distraught and the high winds ripping at her orange hair and travel clothes. The least he could do was try and make peace with the healer.
âFirst time flying? Canât have you falling off now, hmm?â A smile rose to his lips while making a quick gesture with his hand. The clay underneath Zila rippled for a moment before dragging her down into it an inch or two, securing her hands so she couldnât fall.
â Zilaâs heart pounded harder, somehow, than it had been before. She watched her hands melt into the clay and this roused an odd feeling, a mixture of panic and security, so she just laughed, confused, and looked up at the blonde man. âH-how arenât you falling off?â She asked, her eyes squinting slightly to look at Deidara without the wind blinding her.
She noticed, when he had smiled, she remembered where she had originally met the man in the past: her Chunin exams, nearly 5 years ago. It truly threw her for a loop, but it made sense, he had passed easily because of his Explosion Release Kekkei Genkai. Now that same Kekkei Gengai had her flying high above a forest on a giant bomb. Who would have known he would have turned into an S-class missing ninjaâŠ
- Pein shut his eyes and began to meditate for the ride back, simply listening to the othersâ conversation.
@akatsuki-healer
âWell, for one thing,â he began, turning fully to look down at her, eager for any opportunity to boast about his talents, âmy chakra powers all my art, so weâre deeply connected. And I guess itâs the same way as the water-walking techniques, but specialized for this, yeah?â
His blue eyes glanced over at Pein who wasnât having any problems meditating in the high winds and pressure which Deidara gestured over at with his hand. âIâm sure youâll have to get used to it like Pein-sama. My last partner, eh, didnât like being off the ground so much.â
â Art. He was calling the bombs art⊠Zila shook the thought from her mind and looked over at Pein as well, highly doubting that she could ever feel safe at this height. âSo⊠What h-happened to your last partner?â She asked him, expecting him to say âoh I blew him up.â Now that they had reached a high enough altitude, the bird stopped flapping itâs wings and began gliding, reducing the wind enough for her hair to stop whipping around her face. She blew a strand of her orange locks out of her face, but it just fell right back.
@akatsuki-healer
Deidara saw this and, while he spoke, casually reached into his cloak for a spare, black hairtie.
âHe got incredibly sloppy, yeah? Lost to a mere child and a old, crippled woman if the report was correct.â He stepped over and knelt down, carefully drawing up Zilaâs hair into a high ponytail at the back of her head, drawing the stray tendrils out of her eyes. âBut Sasori was never a team player to begin with and his art was⊠Well. Hah! Like it matters now.â
â As Deidara approached her, she leaned away slightly, but quickly realized that she had literally nowhere to go, and allowed him to restrain her hair. She listened to his story, relieved to have her orange tresses out of her eyes. âThank you,â she said very softly to him, refusing to meet his gaze. âSo that makes me your partner now, yeah?â
@akatsuki-healer
âYup! Hope this turns out well, too, cuz I remember how skilled you were during the Chunin exams.â Once he was finished with her hair, he leaned back and studied her downcast expression, his smile faltering a bit before beaming back up. He patted her head with his fingertip, careful not to disturb the mouths on his palms more than he already had. âDonât worry, the job is more fun than it seems. And we didnât dislocate your arms getting you up on the bird, so thatâs a plus, right? Things could be /much/ worse.â
Zila's cheeks warmed slightly at his words. "So you do remember me from all those years ago..." Little did she know Deidara was the entire reason she was recruited I'm the first place. His pat on the head was meant to be calming she assumed, but it revealed the mouths on his hands to her and her expression twisted once again, clearly having taken her by surprise. What had she gotten herself into...
Pein's eyes opened and he looked up at the pair. "Enough small talk. We will be at the lair soon...," he said to them, crossing his arms and looking down through the clouds at the landscape.

âZila turned quickly at the sound of rustling bushes, and was greeted by three shadowed figures in heavy cloaks. Fear jumped into her throat but she swallowed it, as much as she could. The one who led them looked strikingly familiar, like a girl she mad met many moons ago. Perhaps they hadnât even met, just passed one another or been introduced by a shared acquaintance. She had piercing blue eyes. The other, scary and tall with many piercings. And his eyes, they must have been some wild Genjustu. The third one⊠Was. Before Pein could even begin, she said to Zetsu, âI know those eyes. Youâre from the hospital.â
- âHehe⊠Very good~,â Zetsu responded in a slinky tone, winking one of those glowing yellow eyes her way.
Pein drew the attention back to himself effortlessly. âZila Hatake of Sunagakure. Magic hands, a gifted healer. We have come today with a proposition for you.â
âZila turned very cautiously to face the man who spoke. His gaze unsettled her, and she looked downward, cursing herself for getting into this situation. âI have nothing to offer you, and Iâm sure you have nothing of worth to offer me.â
- Pein tilted his head at her. âThat is where youâre wrong. We know about the jutsus that you develop. Weâre interested in bringing your talent into our fold. And for you we offer sanctuary. Family.â
- âI already have a family,â she said quickly.
- âHmm⊠Do you?â Pein asked.
Zetsu smiled again, shaking his head as of to answer for her.
@akatsuki-healer
â /Family/. Those were Konanâs words flowing from Peinâs mouth. Too bad she wasnât here to try and convince the new recruit. Although the blue-haired woman seemed cold, Deidara knew that her life practcially revolved around the Akatsuki, and none of them would be there without her.
âListen, the Villages use people like you as a pawn. They waste your talent. They limit what your skillâ what your art could be!â Deidara added with a somewhat cocky smile when the Kunoichi didnât immediately bolt from the situation. âWith us â weâve got freedom at our fingertips. And we donât have to take orders from anyone but ourselves. Howâs that for family?â
@darcowrites
â Zila raised a brow slightly. âHow temptingâŠ,â she mocked.
-Pein stepped forward, causing Zila to gasp quietly and step backward, toward Zetsu without realizing it. âWhat he means to say is, in our organization, you simply must complete the tasks we give you and what you do with the rest of your time is of no concern to us. Everyone has their⊠Hobbies,â he explained, gesturing to Deidara. âSome tend to be more⊠Dangerous, but we donât judge.â
- Zila cracked a small smile when the tall man speaking to her said âhe,â referring to the blonde. There was no way⊠She suddenly stepped on something, and it snapped her out of her inner thoughts.
- âHey watch your step,â Zetsu yelped. A small giggle came from behind a tree in the distance behind Pein. Everyone grinded to a halt and looked in that direction.
- Hasaan slapped his hand over his mouth. He had really done it now. It was just funny to see the serious meeting interrupted by the plant guy getting stepped on by his teacher. Slowly, the genin began to back away, and when he had the chance, and stared toward the campsite.
- âWeâve been compromised, Deidara check it out. Zetsu, keep an eye out.â Pein was suddenly somehow more serious than before and this made Zila uneasy once again.
- âWhat is this really about?â She asked finally, hoping to the gods that the sound had not been Hasaan. That boy never seems to listen at the worst of times.
- âOur goal⊠World peace. The problem is that most people donât agree with our means of achieving it.â
- âThen I donât want any part of it!â Zila finally decided, beginning to move away from Pein. A vine sprouted from the ground on her right and grabbed her ankle, leaving her stuck in place.
- âThe problem, Ms. Hatake, is that youâre not allowed to decline an invitation into the Akatsuki. You either join..,â he paused, noticing her face twisted up at the word Akatsuki. â⊠Or die.â
- Zila felt her guts drop. These were the people who took Gaara. And now they were here. For her.
@akatsuki-healer
â Deidara bolted out of the clearing after the intruder, not sure whether to expect the kid from earlier or some higher ninja. The mouths in his palms were already rolling chunks of clay and infusing his chakra into them. Trunks and branches whipped by in a blur of green and brown. And then the small form stumbling over the forest floor in an effort to escape, dodging between the trees.
âCome on out, brat! Letâs make this quick!â
He couldnât risk the kid reaching the Sand encampment and alerting the others, though his explosive art might already do that itself. Tiny bats formed from between his hands and he cast them towards the child with /katsu/ waiting on his lips for the perfect moment to finish him.
@darcowrites
â Hasaanâs heart leapt to his chest at the criminalâs words, and it only spurred him to race through the woods quicker. He could see the faint glow of the campfire in the distance; sanctuary. He wanted to scream out to get someoneâs attention, but his scrambling made it hard to take in any breaths, let alone get words out loud enough that would carry to the campsite.
Zila collapsed in front of Pein, clutching her knees. âNo, no, no I canât. I canât die, I am the only master of my hiden technique, please,â she plead, looking up at Pein with tears beginning to well in her eyes, âif I die, my jutsu dies with me, and the world will be worse off.â
- Pein raised a brow to her, looking down at the pathetic sight. âWell then I suppose you better decide to come with us, and youâd better decide quick, because this show is beginning to give me second thoughts.â What use did the Akatsuki have for a crybaby? She may be a medical genius, but she sure was making herself seem like a waste of his time.
- Zilaâs eyes widened and she looked away, wiping her eyes quickly. âWorld peace. This doesnât seem very peaceful, what, recruiting random ninja in the woods in the middle of the night, and threatening their lives when they disagree. Kidnapping the⊠The K-Kazekage..,â she choked on her words, standing up and drying her eyes.
- âOur means of achieving our goal may not make sense to you, but they donât need to. At least not yet,â Pein said to her, relieved that she decided to compose herself. âNone of our actions are at random.â
- Then the bombs went off in the trees behind them. Time seemed to pause.
@akatsuki-healer
-âKatsu!â The word flew off Deidaraâs lips like a curse that sent the trees splintering around him and his prey. Groaning, the ancient trees spiraled as they plummeted and crashed into one another and shook the forest floor, whole chunks blasted away in the explosions. Debris clouded the air and the blonde man quickly drew his sleeve up to cover his mouth and nose, eyes squinting harshly. /Damn! Did I hit him?/ A single shriek pierced the air then fell quiet, which seemed like heâd finished the job, but there was no time to be certain. The shouts of the Sand ninja cut through his conscious like a kunai. /Fuck!/
Turning on heel, he blasted a few more trees to delay the approaching nin and bolted back to his leader and the other nin.
âWhatâs the call, boss? I got the kid, but the others arenât gonna let us leave without a fight.â He darted his azure gaze down to the girl â woman, really â kneeling down in the grass with remnants of tears in her eyes. Already, the bird he had stashed away in his cloak was tossed out into the air, rapidly growing in size. âShe coming with us or not, hm?â
@darcowrites
-- Hasaan was left unconscious wedged under a tree. Lucky for the young genin, the tree landed on another and hadn't crushed him, merely pressing on top of his small form. Temari bolted up to the young boy moments later, and a few other nin ran up around her. "Go search for Zila-san!" She commanded, and they shot off, leaving her to get Hasaan out herself.
Zila's mind raced suddenly, "I-I'm going with you!" She squeaked, "Don't hurt them! I'll go with you as long as we get out without confrontation!" She grabbed Pein's cloak and looked up into his menacing eyes, her own dark eyes begging silently.
- Pein looked down at the Kunoichi, and read the sincerity in her. "Get on the bird," was all he said. He admired the bravery and selflessness she suddenly seemed to possess. Perhaps she was a good candidate after all... Only time would tell.
Zetsu sank into the Earth once again and Pein jumped up onto Deidara's bird.
- Zila stared at the giant thing for a moment, before swallowing hard and jumping up herself, trying desperately to find something to hold onto.
This was really it. The moment her feet left the ground was the moment she walked away from her life, and it broke her heart. Tears prodded at her eyes again, but as she sat up on that clay creature, she told herself not to mourn her past, for she knew it would help nothing... Everything she was going to do from then on was for survival and for the betterment of the future.
