“It’s a ukelele, sis.” tobias pointed out, though there was a happy smile placed on his face as he spoke. “I really, really don’t think they’re sensitive. They’re made of wood.” 

“But they’re so small,” she said sadly, holding up the broken instrument to her brother to prove her point. “You can’t just break an instrument this cute and not feel bad about it.”

“no. absolutely not.” valeria went into work with the mindset of pushing through the last two weeks of this job only because she already accepted a new gig and could use the money between this one and the next, but this was becoming ridiculous. “you think i am here to clean toilets? no seas gilipollas!” shoving the cleaner back into the hand of the owner that handed it to vale, the young woman now had two free hands to raise to the sky as she exclaimed, “i quit! i QUIT! i hate selling wine anyways.” she shouted, blowing by the table to grab a bottle of white, explaining herself loudly with, “And I am taking my free shift bottle!” before barreling out of the doors and barely missing the stranger on the other side. “I would not recommend you go in there, amigo. you will get nothing but disrespect! toilets. do i look like i should clean toilets?” holding out the one free hand vale had, she tilted her head and tried to hide her voice cracking in anger. “do these moisturized hands look like toilet cleaning hands to you?!”

Ashleigh was walking past the shop with no intention of going in. She was on her way home from work and just wanted to get a good night’s rest. Besides, alcohol never helped her creatively and she needed to stay focused. She stopped when she heard yelling, curiously trying to listen to the conversation. She couldn’t help it, she always felt the need to know what was going on. When the woman came out, she took a step back and pretended that she wasn’t eavesdropping. “Oh-- I wasn’t gonna go in, I was just...” she looked around the area. “Taking a walk.” But the woman kept talking and Ashleigh assumed that she really didn’t care. “And no, I don’t think you give off the ‘cleaning toilet’ vibe.” But she also didn’t know what someone who should clean toilets would look like. “You don’t need them anyways, not if they’re gonna make you clean the bathroom.”

“–  if i have to save one more damn cat from a tree, i’m going to quit and join the circus. if your cat is capable of getting THAT high up in the first place, then surely they can be smart enough in figuring a way to get down. i’m a firefighter, not a cat rescuer. screw the cats.”  

Ashleigh couldn’t help but laugh. It wasn’t every day that she saw a man getting this worked up about cats. “Whoa, I didn’t know that this happened in real life. I’ve always wondered why it’s the firefighter’s job to save the cats too? I mean, if there’s no fire involved then it seems like an unrelated task.”

oliver had been more or less zoned out with a cigarette hanging loosely between his lips as he scrolled through his phone. at the sound of someone talking though, he was quickly broken from his daze and he looked over at her and what was i her hand. “sensitive? sounds like the word to describe the people that play them as well.” he chuckled, not meaning for it be a rude comment, but just a comment nonetheless. “did you find that just laying around or something?”

Ashleigh wanted to glare at the man for the comment, but she shrugged instead, understanding where he was coming from. “They’ve honestly become the basic ‘artsy white guy’ instrument, which is unfortunate.” She didn’t spend too much time on the ukulele and preferred the piano. “No, someone gave it to me thinking that I could fix it. But this thing is beyond repair and I only know how to change strings.”

Logan looked at the other with a confused look on his face, “Are you high too?” he asked looking from the ukulele to the other’s face.  “You seem actually upset about this.”

“What? No.” She turned to the man, returning the confused look. “It just upsets me when people mistreat their instruments,” she muttered. “Do I look high?”

“People need to stop treating these little guys so poorly.” Ashleigh sighed, holding up a ukulele that was completely damaged. “They’re sensitive.” She often spoke about musical instruments as if they had feelings.

hi everyone! i’m lia and i’m so excited to be here! here’s some info about my muse ashleigh:

she’s from australia

she was given up for adoption as a newborn, but she never knew why. her birth parents never contacted her 

this doesn’t bother her too much because she loves her adopted family-- but she is curious about them 

she was adopted by a family at the age of four

her adoptive parents already had a son when she joined the family-- he was also adopted

she loves her family very much and would do anything for them!! they have a good relationship 

ash was an energetic child. she was always running around the house singing and dancing 

she started writing music when she was in high school and decided that she wanted to make a living off of songwriting 

she is also very studious and works hard academically 

her adoptive father passed away a couple of years ago and that broke her

she started becoming more timid and guarded around other people because she didn’t want to deal with that kind of pain ever again

ash still tries to stay strong for her family though, she doesn’t want to give them anything to worry about

she still cries about it but she doesn’t want people to know that

she moved to florida a year ago because she wasn’t feeling the university she was attending in melbourne

she’s a music major and works at a music store
