i used to be a darling starlet like a centerpiece. had the whole world wrapped around my ring. i flew too closely to the sun that's setting in the east and now I'm melting from my wings. 'cause i'd laugh and drink and talk 'bout things, and fall in love in my backyard. now it's my own anxiety that makes the conversation h a r d. 'cause nobody seems to ask about me anymore. and nobody ever c a r e s 'bout anything i think. and nobody seems to //recognize// me in the crowd. In the background... screamin',
"everybody, look at me!"
“well, i’m not saying it’s supernatural or anything…i have no way of knowing.” sammie lifts a hand to push his hair back, eyes downcast. the piece of lined paper before him sports a (terrible) doodle of a three storey house with a light shining out of what is supposed to be the attic window. he might be a good writer, but he’s never been too gifted at any other form of art. “anyway. i’m telling you, it’s weird. i see it almost every night. morning. whatever. three o’clock on the dot, it’s this creepy place just a few miles from here in the middle of an open field. light’s too strong to be a lamp or a flashlight, it was giving me a seriously creepy vibe. no one seems to be around during the day. i checked.” he pauses to take a sip of the coffee in his paper cup, gaze still resting on his design. “wonder what they could be hiding in that attic.”
alaska listened to sammie closely, her brows furrowing every few seconds as she took in the sight of his drawing. “i wouldn’t count out supernatural! okay don’t look at me like i’m crazy, sammie.” she tilted her head to the side, a pleading look on her face. “i’ve seen enough horror movies and read enough books to know that three am is referred to as ‘the witching hour’! so it very well could be supernatural.” she shrugged. “play with any ouija board lately, samuel?” she questioned, a serious look in her eyes.
wearing past horrors like a namesake , a thin - hearted boy writhes and groans in his sleep. a scream crawls from his throat like the spiders that scurry dimly - lit motel halls. ( you think you’ve killed them , but they’ll sneak under your door at night and lay dormant until you forget. that is the nature of wounded things , after all : poisoning you with pride and watching as you fester from the inside - out. spiders are not the only wounded creatures in blairsville , and they are not the only things you should be afraid of ; there is enough decay to go around. ) the boy in question — the one who sounds like he’s being murdered in room 58 , i mean — is speaking , screeching to be rescued from this nocturnal hell.
❝ help ! no ––– please , please ! ❞
alaska shot ramrod straight, the sheen of a cold sweat on her forehead. nightmares. slit wrists and slamming lockers. she reached over for her bottled water, taking a gulp. she threw the blankets back, and slid on her slippers, before grabbing her cigarette’s and lighter. she made her way out of her room, in the dark. she lightly opened her room door stepping out into the hallway. she sighed as she lit her cigarette and took a long drag. she heard a yell, and ignored it. in a motel like this, she’s bound to hear worse. when it sounds again she walks towards the scream, and stops at room 58. at the third shriek she pushes the door open, throwing her cigarette ont he ground and stomping on it.
“theo? theo, cmon.” she speaks clearly. “theo you need to wake up!” she says shaking him lightly. “theo!”
“i swear, i’m about to square up with that thing.” she joked. “nope, i looked. i really hope they don’t check the cctv to see who fucked it up… i can’t afford to pay for that shit.” her mouth opened a little shaking her head instantly as the other gave her the money. “i’m not taking this. we work for ourselves. keep it.” she handed it back.
“they won’t notice its you. there’s enough shady brunettes living here.” she joked, nudging the other with her shoulder. “i had one couple come in tonight,” she started, ‘eaning against the wall by the vending machine. “she almost left me a twenty dollar tip. but her diet coke wasn’t diet.” she frowned. “told her i would take it off her bill and she threw a fit.” she rolled her eyes, her voice quiet. “she left me two pennies and a not that said ‘waitressing isn’t that hard.’” she laughed a little bit. “lets go hit the other vending machine.” she stood up straight. “they have reese’s anyways.” she smiled at her friend before grabbing her hand and pulling her along.
laurel cringed as her body accidentally swung into a trash can, her eyes growing wide as she froze on the spot, scanning her surroundings for any sign of movement. it was three a.m and she had finally returned to the motel from work with waking somebody up as the last thing she wanted. she reached her room’s door, softly groaning as she watched the light above the number ‘19′ flicker until the globe eventually blew. her hand slid into her bag to search for her keys before realizing that they weren’t where she thought they were, eyes rolling back at the sudden memory of leaving them on the dressing table back at the club, “well, fuck..” she whispered, slowly turning before sliding down and leaning against her door; everything that could go wrong has g o n e wrong.
alaska sighed, pushing her glasses up her nose before taking another drag of her cigarette. she jumped, after hearing a loud bang. her eyes narrowed, and she looked through the darkness around her. “god i hope its just a cat. a large cat.” she whispered under her breath “hello?” she questioned a little loudly. she through the butt of the cigarette on the ground. her heartbeat accelerated. she caught a flash or red hair and let out a cure under her breath. “damn it laurel!” she spoke louder. “you scared the crap outta me. did you forget your key again?” she questioned, pushing her glasses up the bridge of her nose again.
“i don’t care how tired you are,” liza says, suddenly getting up from next to them and fixing her lipstick in the mirror. “put on your big kid boots, take something from the top shelf of my medicine cabinet and let’s go !!” she finishes, turning around to look at them as she crosses her arms. “i wanna’ have FUN and, no offense, but watching reruns of family guy episodes with mediocre chinese food is NOT my idea of fun right now.”
“cmon, lizzie.” the brunette muttered as she turned her head from the tv to the blonde. “i worked a double shift. i made ten bucks in tips.” she spoke, an edge in her voice. “but ya know,” she put a finger to her lips before continuing. “i could be persuaded... by waffles, maybe?” she smirked, laughter in her eyes.
“so…” lina started. “i think i might have broke the vending machine.” her lips turned into a flat smile. “short story made even shorter - my snickers got stuck, so then i bought some doritos to knock it down and that didn’t even work!” she exclaimed, still in anger of the tragic event. “so then, i may have shoved it a little too hard and now it’s not turning back on… so i’m now two dollars down and still hungry.”
“wow. the vending machine is totally out to get you.” alaska smiled, as she listened to her friends story. “you probably like, unplugged it or something.” she smiled again, pulling two dollar bills out of her pockets. “i got ten bucks in tips tonight. take ‘em.” she said, sticking her had between them, the cash crumpled in her palm.

✘ [ PHOEBE TONKIN ] — have you seen alaska caldwell, the twenty-three year old cisfemale also known as the broken bird? Fkeep this between us, but i’ve heard through the rumor mill that she was responsible for someone committing suicide. it appears that they are sincere & loyal, but watch out, because they’re also pessimistic & destructive. they have been staying at the motel for two weeks, and i don’t think they’re leaving anytime soon.
okay so alaska’s bio/story involved mental illness, alcohol abuse, bullying and suicide!
here is a link to alaska’s complete biography
ANYWAYS alright alright alright now on to my baby
alaska was born in atlanta to a mother with bipolar disorder and an alcoholic father. but they managed. they got buy. super poor and stuff and most of their money went towards alaska’s ballet classes
she was teased hella bad in school because she was poor and couldn’t buy nice clothes so she didn’t fit in and kids are freaking assholes so she transferred schools and after puberty and bam she came back super hot (i mean look at phoebe daaaaaamn) and all the mean girls wanted to be her friends she was like no way you guys are assholes
when she was fifteen she was sexually assaulted while walking home. they never found the guy, and it like.. changed her. as expected. she gave in, and joined the mean girls. she got mean. super mean.
at seventeen, the group of girls started bullying this one girl really bad. bad enough to the point where the girl killed herself. when the girls were all questioned, alaska claimed she wasnt involved and didn’t go to trial or anything of the sort.
at the age of 20, alaska’s mom passed away. she had been working in a coffee shop for a few years, still taking her dance classes. then she picked up and left. she’s been going place to place, hotels and motels. she picks up small jobs like waitressing and bar tending and gas starion attendants.
alaska went from a happy young woman, to a sad depressed shell. she doesn’t even remember the girl she used to be.
so shes pretty pessimistic and likes to self medicate with alcohol and occasionally drugs.
as for connections…
alaska needs a new ride or die okay shes got NOBODY
also, as stated on the wanted connections i would love to have someone related to the girl who committed suicide.
maybe an ex? male or female or non-binary i’m here for it okay
maybe a cousin? maybe a half unknown sibling?
i’m open for ANYTHING y’all i’m a slut for plots/connections!
like this post and i’ll magically pop up in your messages!
She’s intimidating and brooding
And she scares people away, because
She’s not made of sugar and spice and everything nice.
But rather fire and lightening and everything frightening.
People see the smoldering flames
And the raging winds
And they think that she’s strong.
They think that she’s powerful.
But really, she just tends to burn herself down.
