Soeur comme l'amour (Sister like love)
Artist Statement 5
La mort est inévitable (Death is inevitable)
We walk on a very thin line of death. We never know tomorrow, we never know now either. I did my project on Sabrina and Corina with concentration on "sister like love" because this remindedme of my sister and I *she's alive though*. A death of a loved one hurts, but the death of someone close, like a sister, brother, mother, father and spouse hurts even more. I focused on keeping my colors dark, for after light and life, comes death. I incorporated the old and new, in age. And also I wanted to show the beautiful hair Corina had, only that we never knew what they both looked like.
I hope you enjoy it.
“I kept thinking about that story,” she said. “The one about the devil at the dance. Remember?”
My grandmother told the story often. A beautiful girl disobeys her family by sneaking into a midnight dance. She’s only there for a short time when a good-looking man slinks toward her out of the crowd. She discovers he can dance well, and not just for an Anglo. He twirls her for hours until the girl notices the faces around her, wide-eyed and gape-mouthed. Her arms suddenly burn, then her lower back, and eventually her lips to throat—all the places where the man touched her. She screams as she notices that his feet, like the devil’s, are hooved.
Reading And Response 5.
Reading the book SABRINA & CORINA, made me feel somewhat uncomfortable and very sad to what kept happeningto the indigenous men and women, but with the focus of women. It was a series of misfortune reoccurring over and over again. From Corina finding out the cause of death of Sabrina, to Joey blinding Doty after a fight when out drinking, etc. Then finally to Ana awaiting for her lover Clifton who maybe dead at this point, poor Ana she's also struggling with her classes. And so the moral of the story was that each and every person lived with regret in the end. Because they wished that, they either did something better or never did it at all. However, its a book worth learning from.

Who knew creating a music Video would be this hard for me, I had technical difficulties trying to create what I in visioned, the struggle and process were tire-some However, I made a music Video with its meaning pointing out to the youth and their direction in life. And also that being a youth doesn't last long, beauty fades but keep your head up high, make the right decisions, have fun and be patient.
Technical Exercise 3: Music Video
Artist Statement: Project 4
For this project I wanted to use ambiguity to convey an idea. Looking out over the city led to me thinking about all those who are suffering right now. The recent rise of Covid cases in Denver reminded me how many people have been affected world wide. The numbers are astounding and reflected on the piece of paper in the video. The first number represents the total number of global cases and the second number represents total deaths. I chose to make the video simple and tracked to somber music to convey the emotions that I’m sure we’re all feeling these days.

Every art work has a story and emotion behind it. Some tell the untold, while other tells the opposite of what you see and hear. What my art work is, is that its not what it seems to be. And they are two sides to a story. Now why did I do this? Well its because their is always to sides to a story no matter how good or bad is sounds. Don't be fooled by what you hear or see, know the full story before you conclude, Thats my motto in life. And so I really hope you understand what's happening, hint remember dont over crowd your mind with vision and what you hear, I may be describing something, a place, an object or I may not. Enjoy.

It saddens me that as women we have to learn such methods just to be able to go by our daily lives without being petrified and paranoid all the time. On the other hand, it is very empowering and I think choosing to talk about this is very important, so thank you! Not only was this interesting to watch, but it was also very beneficial!

Title: michael reeves tazing people for a minute straight
This was probably the most fun I’ve ever had editing a video in the few months that I’ve been doing it. I didn’t have issues while I was editing but I had a lot of issues with coming up with a theme. In the video I put together I decided to make the theme tazing. It sounds weird at first but seeing how creative Michael Reeves is with engineering objects to taze people (mostly himself) with. Michael Reeves is a YouTuber that I enjoy watching mostly because he knows how to make engineering and programing look interesting. I’ve been having issues getting in the creative spirit and his videos have been helping a lot lately.
I hope y’all have as much fun watching this as it was to make :)

“The Other History of Intercultural Performance”
This reading was just awful. I mean the amount of insult bestowed unto these humans caged up against their own will, and then to make matters worse, they are photographed made to look like a “living museum”. Such dehumanizing to the point that only young children were able to get a closeup, get closer to the cage seeking direct contact to shake their hands and to try and capture their eyes and smile. It was so bad that the children would say, they don’t want to see the “bugs” they want to stay with the Mexicans, which then changed the reactions of people, from locale to LOCALE. In other words, they were kept as slaves.
