"Wait what?" She stopped walking, "what do you mean with ‘hanging up’ in your room?" Savannah laughed and continued walking to his car, "oh my god, please tell me that’s not true, this is so embarrassing." The thought of all her childish postcards hanging up on his room made her laugh, how much could he like those postcards to hang them all up? "And so I am, I wouldn’t be able to do it if it wasn’t for my mom tho." She waited till she heard the sound of the doors unlocking then opened it. Having gotten inside, she put on her safe belt, "what kind of flowers do you think we should buy her? She loves peonies, but also roses and daisies, it’s such a big deal."

“Yes, they really are around my room. It needed some decoration and being able to just look around my walls and know where you’ve been in the world made,” he ran his hand through his hair, “made me feel closer to you even though you were always thousands of miles away.” Alec shrugged at his corniness. Alec began pulling out of the driveway after quickly turning down his music to a reasonable level so he could actually hear her voice. “Maybe we should get a mix of all three. I think having all three of her favorite flowers in one vase would make her smile.”

Savannah felt his arms wrapped tightly around her and felt truly protected. Somehow Alec would always give her the strength she needed, as she heard his words, she couldn’t help it but sob. After a little while, Savannah calmed down. She lifted her head and silently just planted the softest of kisses on his lips before lying against him and closing her eyes. “Thank you so much, I haven’t told anyone how I felt towards my mom’s situation.” She added while slowly breaking apart, raising her hand to her face to wipe off the tears. “It’s such a relief now.” She smiled at him and shook her head. “Okay, ready?” Savannah opened the door again and waited for Alec to come out of the house, “do you really have them all? I bet they were dumb as fuck.” She laughed as she recalled all the cheesy postcard she’s sent him in the past years. “I was two years younger yes, but I was like a child for real, I don’t know how to explain— I remember I’d always start off by a cheesy pick up line then I’d write how was the place and everything. Travelling is just amazing.”

Once Savannah seemed to start calming down he loosened his tight grip around her just enough so it was a nice and calm hold. He could feel her lifting her head and he looked down as a reaction but he wasn’t expecting her to do what she had done. The two had been friends for a long time and they’d kissed on multiple occasions but it still seemed to surprise him sometimes. Alec continued to look down at her as she spoke. “I’m always going to be here for you, you know that. Which means you can always tell me anything. I just want you to be happy and stable,” he told her with a smile on his friend, “and protected of course.” After his little speech he kissed her cheek and followed her out of the house. “Of course, they’re all hanging up in my room. They weren’t dumb. I actually enjoy looking at them.” Alec laughed as he listened to her as they walked to his car. “Savannah, they are all amazing. I’m glad you were able to travel like you wanted to.

She’s amazing, I love her to death. And thank you, same here. I’ll always be here for you and I’ll always care about you, no matter what happens.

Well, Jules has always joked about us. You know how she is, gotta love her tho. And well, I really wanna thank you for everything, I don’t know what I’d do without you right now.

True. She's just being a little sister and I love her, but it's aggravating. There's no need to thank me Sav. You're my best friend and I am just doing what any good best friend would do. Anyway, I'll always be here for you and you know that.

"What’re you looking at?" Savannah wrinkled her nose then laughed. "I really really missed this, but yes I’m ready let’s go." She stood up, and made her way to the door. "I feel like I’m gonna throw up, I just — Don’t get me wrong I love my mom but Alec, since she has now a nurse at home and everything, it scares me so much. Why can’t she just tell me what’s going on? For fuck’s sake." Savannah could feel the tears streaming down her cheeks and tried to hide it by covering her face with both hands.

“You,” he smiled. “So did I.  I’m really sorry we lost touch when I was gone; I have all of the post cards you sent me though. I really missed you.” He sighed as he shook his head. The whole thought of not being close those few years actually hit him hard but he tried not to show it as he stood up and followed her to the door. The expectations were for them to go and buy flowers – maybe a card – and then head on over, he however didn’t expect to see her crying at the door. “Savannah, please don’t cry. You know I can’t handle it when you cry. Remember the last time you cried? Some boy was being a jerk and I ended up beating him until I broke his nose and arm.” Alec wasn’t one to be good at helping people when they cried, he normally didn’t even bother trying but Savannah was a special-case. Alec wrapped his arms around her and pulled her close, allowing her head to rest of his chest as he rubber her bag and set his head on top of hers. “Everything is going to be okay, I promise. Your mother is a tough women and she’ll be okay.”

"Now really, would you be a stripper?" She asked laughing, "That’d be real funny to watch." Savannah smiled at him and nodded, "that’d be really nice, plus she really misses you, so thank you so much for coming with me. It’ll make her real happy." She knew how bad her mom was feeling and how she was trying to hide it and she hated that. Everything would be less painful if her mom would just say what she had. Savannah went upstairs and changed her clothes, she took her bag and finally put on her leather jacket. She went to the kitchen and found Alec eating, "buen provecho.” She sat next to him then hugged onto his arm, “do you mind driving? I just don’t really feel good.”

Alec winked, “with my body? Hell yeah!” The idea of buying her mother some nice flowers and maybe a card actually sounded quite nice in his mind. Savannah’s mother had always been nice to him and he felt bad because he hadn’t seen her in years. As Alec waited for Savannah in the kitchen he couldn’t help but wonder how she had been over the years. When he was away Alec had been in a long-term-serious relationship with one girl and he had been working on his art along with holding onto a job which made it extremely hard for him to stay in contact with his dear friend. Once she came into the kitchen he pushed his thoughts away and smiled. “Of course. Are you ready to leave? We can stop and pick up the flowers on the way,” he smiled as he looked down at the girl hugging his arm.
