Thinking about the shift in the way Thancred perceives the Warrior of Light from Heavensward to Endwalker nonstop today...

How after the loss of Minfilia, he openly disapproved of the way the WOL was practically forced to shoulder the burden of the entire Dragonsong War, save the city of Ishgard, and involve themselves in nearly every aspect of politics post-war:

But as we progress into Shadowbringers and Endwalker, Thancred grows through Ryne and Minfilia, and he finds a reason to be optimistic again with the help of the Scions. He begins to put his trust in the Warrior of Light to be able to do what he can't even hope to accomplish on his own:

And then when the Scions finally obtain the warding scales in Endwalker, of course Thancred is the one who brings up the fact that they'll finally be able to fight by the WOL's side against primals. I love all of these responses because it shows that he wants to do whatever he can to lighten the WOL's burden but at the same time he still believes that the WOL is their guiding light and symbol of hope:

He's grown a lot and whatever he is to your WOL, I hope he's at least a friend or a companion. Because he cares. A lot.

i love the wol/estinien arc if you ship it in ffxiv, it's like:

I keep losing it during cutscenes that aren't supposed to be funny because I'll be watching them like "☹️ aww I guess Estinien's not in this one" and then they'll do a loooong pan away from the group of assembled npcs to show that nope! there he is! he's just six hours away on another continent leaning against any vaguely vertical surface
