Kinda reached a point in my life where I just play to enjoy it despite what’s industry standard. When I first came to Nashville after a single semester at Berklee College of Music I remember hearing over and over how it’s frowned upon to “overplay”. That was a big thing even if it was minding my own business chillin I kept getting reminded left and right people didn’t vibe with “too many notes”. Definitely uncalled for on records sometimes but I really come to appreciate my own playing for what it is, somewhere between melodic, chording and raw expression. I ain’t ever really just needed positive affirmations to make me happy but seems I get more positive feedback when I do play what I enjoy so that’s cool to see.
