Final Pt 2

The first picture of the Pyramids is my picture and the second one is the picture of the inspiration. The title of my piece is called "The wonders of Giza"

Materials: For this one I used all color pencils and my sketchbook. As stated before, I am very comfortable with color pencils and have not ventured off into anything else other than that.

Inspiration: I took inspiration from Lauren. I saw the picture she drew of the mountains and I thought to myself they looked like the pyramids of Giza. I thought it would have been something very cool to draw as well.

Complimentary color: For the complimentary color combination, I used orange for the actual pyramid complemented with the Blue sky. Blue and orange are my favorite colors as well so I was glad to be able to use those as the compliments.

Conceptual goals: I wanted to draw the pyramids of Giza because of how fascinating I think the idea is. For a civilization from their time they were so far advanced to be able to build a structure like this. Every detail is perfect down to the inch. I believe they do not get enough credit for a creation like the pyramids. I also wanted to incorporate history into this final project as they are one of the most historical structures we have in the world.

This was a great class, I enjoyed my journey learning about myself through each lesson.

Final Pt 1

The one in the grocery store is my picture that I drew. The picture on the couch is what I drew my inspiration from. The title of my picture will be "Can't escape Aisle 5"

Inspiration: I drew inspiration from Sean's picture of the portrait assignment. I liked how he drew with perspective and I wanted to try to do this as well. You can see how the couch in his picture looks 3d and you can see the space in the portrait.

Materials: For this piece I tried to use mainly colored pencils and a little bit of crayon in the piece which I have not done much of this semester. I feel the most comfortable using colored pencils and I like the way my art comes out with that.

Complimentary colors: I used a few different complimentary color combinations in this piece. For example red cereal boxes coupled with the green canned food. Secondly, the blue chip bags with the orange canned goods in the back.

Conceptual goals: When I thought of this idea of trying to draw perspective I was in Wegmans shopping back in my hometown. I wanted to try to draw with perspective and thought it would work well with an aisle in a grocery store. I spent a lot of Time on this and I enjoy how this came out.

For this week I used 8 items from a Christmas magazine that I found at Walmart. I used a snowy background to get into the Christmas spirit.

1.) Cowboy hat (Hat), One fact about a cowboy hat is John Stetson became sick he headed west to Colorado and went panning gold. He saw the other hats that people were wearing while working and decided to improve the design to what we now know as the Cowboy hat.

My character that I created is supposed to be an American corporate worker, who works away a lot of their life away. They get to buy a lot of material things, like suits, Gucci shoes, and expensive cars and jewelry. But, with these material possessions he realizes that he cannot use all of them because he is always at work. He buys these materialistic items to flaunt success and attract people because personal relationships suffered from his drive to work all the time. He will never realize that the material things in life will not supersede experiences and relationships.

The celebrity that I picked who shows off a wealthy lifestyle is Lil Baby. Lil baby is a rapper that debuted in 2017, in every picture you see of him he always has expensive jewelry on which include watches, chains, and rings. He also has a diamond encrusted grill that he always wears to show off his wealth. Lil Baby always has on designer clothes and drives very expensive cars, he has a collection of cars worth over 10 million dollars. Lil Baby is known to show off a wealthy lifestyle and raps about how the sums of money he has.

Activity 1: I asked my roommate Dom to sit down and let me draw him, we decided to keep it simple and just do it in our townhouse and on the couch. I enjoy drawing people it was nice switch up from our usual assignments. Dom is a great roommate and I’ve known him for my entire life. I learned that he was born in the same hospital as me, we played on the same t-ball team and we played on the same soccer team as kids.

Activity 2: For activity two Brody and I went over to the bonaventure trails and found a great group of rocks. We decided to create a peace sign and put it right under a tree near the Allegheny river. We liked the idea to sculpt a peace sign because we feel there is a need for peace with international affairs going on currently.

Activity 3: For activity 3 my roommates and I went to Walmart and bought pumpkins before Halloween and carved jack-o-lanterns. I have more videos but I can only upload one video per post. This was a good time and we controversially listened to Christmas while doing it but I had a great time doing this assignment.

For my attendance prompt I want to highlight Joe's improvement in the art class, his art is amazing. I love the attention to detail in all of his pieces, and the combination of something in the water to something on land. Joe is very creative with his art pieces and it is very impressive to see his artistic skills improve throughout the semester.

This week I combined an old photo of a man with a cow head, and I did an old photo of a baseball player with a deer head for the human head. This was one of my favorite pieces to do, collage is a very fun part of this class and finding the different pictures in magazines was very fun and making it all work in the end to create an art piece of your own.

For part two of the midterm, I took these various pictures on campus and made them black and white. I gave them a title of:

For part one of the midterm, I took inspiration from the game uncharted. It is a treasure hunting game which has a big mountain with a very eerie feeling to it. I decided to put the skull into the face of the mountain, by putting the eye holes and nose hole as various caves in the mountain.

My birthday is July 10th so I am a cancer for my Zodiac sign, I never really knew much about what it meant to have that zodiac sign. A few common traits among cancers is they are nurturing and loyal especially to family. Cancers are ruled by the moon, as the moon changes so does their mood.

I did this collage with a background with warm colors since my birthday is in the summer. Orange and red remind me of the summer, red being a warm hot color and orange reminds me of the great sunsets you see in the summer time. I wanted to capture these things of what I like to do in the summer time with my collage.

Firstly, from the video she suggested to find your photos from magazines or readily available imaging which is what I did for my source of imagery. It was tough finding a crab in a magazine so I had to use the internet for that one but I tried to use magazines for everything else.

I started by drawing the two sixes facing opposite directions this depicts the constellation represented by Cancer. Then I pulled the crab off the internet which is the animal that represents cancer. I pulled a picture of a boat because I work at a yacht club during the summers and boats always remind me of the summer, I have two pictures of football players because I am always playing football during the summer and even help out with my local high schools practices for the few weeks at the end of the summer. Finally, I pulled a picture of a tent. I love to hike and camp during the summer times.

For the artist, Jessica Simpson and I share the same birthday, this was the only artist on the list who I recognized so I picked her and this was one of the songs that I recognized when I started to listen to a few of her songs.

I was inspired by Madisyn for this because she drew boats in the water, and I thought I would like to draw a canoe that was lost at sea. Also Joe's previous work inspired the night time aspect of this scene that I drew. I liked the aspects of involving water into the drawing and a simple drawing that you only have one thing to focus on. I think the canoe being the only thing to focused allows you to think about the possible meanings and why there is no one rowing.

I took this picture yesterday after a nice sunset outside of my townhouse at St. Bonaventure so I thought it was fitting to use this for my assignment. I used warm colors combined with cool colors in the sunset. The warm colors are the orange and yellow in the sunset, while the cool tones are the blue and purple mixed in. The green grass is also a cool tone used.

This is Hall of fame Quarterback Peyton manning. He played for the Denver Bronco and he is using complementary colors by wearing a blue suit with an orange tie. The Broncos team colors are blue and orange so he is wearing his team colors which are complementary colors.

I decided to use colored pencils and I went on Tik Tok to find a good landscape for colored pencils. I liked the mountains and it was very fun to mimic the landscape. I decided to put a canoe, flower and tree that I found from some magazines. I love landscapes and even more I love to draw sun sets. I tried my best to fade the sunset and have it set right over the mountain.

My name is Alex Antonacci, I am 20 years old and I currently attend St. Bonaventure. I am from Niagara Falls, NY. I went to Niagara Falls High School where I played sports and was involved in many clubs. I enjoy playing soccer and tennis as well as watching the NFL for things to do for fun. I love to play card games such as Euchre with my friends. I am a senior accounting major with a goal to become a CPA.

I have a job lined up in the Tax department of a large regional firm. I have decided to take this art class to hopefully tap into my creative side. I find drawing very relaxing and fun even though I am not the best at it :) I want to become a better artist with this class and learn more about myself.
