Alex noticed the blonde’s body language. It was like she was looking for a fight, but this man’s minor indiscretion wasn’t worth Alex’s time or skills. Not when it could easily be solved other ways. She didn’t want to make too big of a scene either. If word got around there was a bartender who could kick some major ass, supernaturals might just start to catch onto her, and that was the last thing she wanted. “You seem like an angry person,” Alex commented after listening to Alexei talk about how she would have liked to beat the guy up. She shrugged at the girl’s question, knowing that she couldn’t give the real answer. “It was a game my brother and I would play when we were little to keep ourselves occupied when we were out running errands with mom. We’d both put something in our pocked and whoever could get it from the other first won. It’s easier to win if your brother doesn’t know you’re reaching for the item. He can’t block me that way.”
Alexei furrowed her brows at the other bartender’s comment, “Yea I get that a lot.” The only ones who seemed to not really notice her aggression where other equally aggressive people, and Alexei was clearly one of those people who didn’t give two shits what others thought or felt about her. She finished what she was doing and then went about cleaning up the glasses around the bar as customers left them wherever they pleased. “Interesting game to play with your brother, I would have figured you picked it up on the streets or something, but I guess not all tricks like that come from such low standards of living,” she smirked.
Delilah laughed, “I used to really dig wine coolers,” she admitted, meekly. Wine Coolers were all she really drank, because they were the only things that she could get her hands on other than beer, but beer made her sick. “I like sweet things,” she justified, though her age should explain most of it. “Yeah, that’s for sure,” she agreed, chewing on her lip. Luckily, this job wasn’t as bad as she initially thought it would be. She actually came to enjoy it. “I just arrived in Chicago yesterday, actually,” she told her, with a laugh, “I got lucky getting a job so soon.”
Alexei widened her eyes, “This town does seem to throw you on a path once you land in it.” she smirked, reminiscing over the first days she arrived to Chicago. “Wine coolers, not bad, I'm more of a vodka girl myself,” she shrugged the discussion of such things only made her feel even more like an alcoholic. She lightly flipped her blonde strands off her shoulder and leaned against the counter some, “So where are you originally from then?” she asked, figuring it would at least change the subject.
“I don’t get paid enough for this shit..” the blonde mumbled under her breath as she took the shot glass from the drunk man who reached over the bar trying to grab at her ass, she pushed him from the stool and the bar security escorted him out. Trapper’s was becoming overwhelmingly busy even with extra staff hired on. Alexei had the routine down, but her tolerance for the patrons in that place was growing thin. Tossing the shot down the drain she went and served more people and then turned to clean some glasses as some sloppy drunk hopped up on the bar counter and started dancing, “You have got to be kidding me.” Alexei stared up at the person and for a moment was unsure as to what to do, that wouldn’t cause her to end up with no job and assault charges. “Get down, before you hurt yourself, though that would save me some effort if you did,” she let the last half trail off as she set down the rag she was using moments before.
Scarlett sighed angrily letting a growl escape her lips by accident but she didn’t care. All she wanted to do was turn back and rip that pervert who had attempted to touch her up apart. All she wanted was a job in a bar and instead he invaded her personal space and thought it would be acceptable to slap her bum and grab her waist, what was she, a piece of meat? “Stupid dirty pervert” she said out loud storming down the street towards her house where at least she wouldn’t be molested.
Alexei was heading in to work, but she usually walked past the other bars in town from where her apartment was before reaching Trapper’s. As she walked down the street she nearly ran into a girl storming out of a lesser bar. The tone of which she spoke those few words was something familiar to Alexei, she had tried every other bar in town before getting a job at Trapper’s and she knew based on the violated look the girl had she must have had a run in with the boss of this low grade place. Alexei glanced up at the name of the bar before turning around as the girl passed her, “You know, there’s bars in town that respect women just a block over. This place has shitty drinks anyways.” she smirked.
Alex looked over as her coworker approached the man from behind. It was clear neither of them were in the mood to pay for the guy’s drinks. The guy turned his back on Alex to look at Alexei and laughed. “What? You thin’ I’m gonna be afraid o’ two little girls?” he slurred out. “Tha’s priceless!” While his attention was drawn, Alex decided to put an end to this stupidity. smoothly, she pick pocketed him for his wallet and pulled out two twenties. It was more than enough to pay for his drinks and give them both a sizable tip. Just as fluidly, she slid the wallet back where it came from and slipped the twenties in her pocket. “Forget it. You can leave,” she said, moving out of his way. He looked smug as he left, as though he’d gotten the better of them. Alex merely turned and went back to wiping down the counter, waiting until he was gone to hold the twenties up in the air for Alexei to see as an explanation for why she’d let him leave.
The blonde kept her gaze even with the man’s, specially when he called them little girls. Alexei’s fingers curled into a fist as she kept the man’s attention, ready to show him just how little she was until she noticed the other bartender move closer behind him. Shifting her weight to one side as the other girl let the man leave she huffed, “I wouldn't come back any time soon though..” she mumbled as the man walked out the door with a cheeky grin upon his face. Alexei returned to behind the counter until she noticed Alex holding up the two twenties, she chuckled softly, “Fuck that guy, drunk ass probably wont even notice it missing honestly,” she shrugged, placing the cleaned glass on the shelves, “I would have loved to kick his ass..any guy that thinks I can’t handle myself usually gets proven wrong.” She glanced over the brunette, “your methods seem more beneficial though, I can get with that.” The blonde leaned against the counter, “ so where did you pick up such talents, eh?”
I can't feel my face when I'm with you, but I love it, but I love it
I can't feel my face when I'm with you, but I love it, but I love it
And I know she'll be the death of me, at least we'll both be numb
And she'll always get the best of me, the worst is yet to come
All the misery was necessary when we're deep in love
This I know, yes I know, and I know
She told me, "Don't worry about it"
She told me, "Don't worry no more"
We both knew we can't go without it
She told me you'll never be in love oh oh oooh
It had been a long shift. It wasn’t that Alex disliked people, she’d learned to make do with them and many more things whether she disliked them or not, but she wasn’t fond of the late night cocky drunks. Especially the ones that thought they could leave without paying their tab. She easily over took them and stood between them and the door, fixing them with a steely gaze. “Pay the check.”
Alexei had been extremely aware of those who came across the bar as of late, like she was expecting that MC of werewolves to storm in, she was even more on edge working in the clinic now, hopefully she had done her job in removing her scent from that wolf’s house, but the thoughts of that night still haunted her sleep and her thoughts. The ware of it all was showing in her tolerance for the customers and their shit. It was close to closing and all she wanted was to be home, as the man refused to pay as the other bartender asked Alexei found her focus drawn to the situation. The man was larger then her, and the drunk disrespect alone was enough to cause Alexei to round the bar and approach the man from the back, “I suggest you just pay buddy, neither of us is in the mood for your shit tonight.”
It was difficult to take her by surprise. Her steps could be heard the moment she entered the house. What was once a steady heartbeat had turned into a frantic one in seconds. Excited; she was actually excited to see her. A small smile formed on her lips as the steps got nearer and in a matter of seconds, her eyes connected with hers. Morning. To think she had been unable to sleep all night. But instead of being cold and distant by her lack of sleep, she was rather calm. Silent, she saw as Alexei undressed; her vivid blue eyes following her every move. She was almost afraid that once she blinked, the happy would disappear. Happy - still, she couldn’t get to the idea that she was actually happy.
“Didn’t bite me for once, he actually fell asleep while you were away. I wouldn’t be surprised if the little devil decides to be awake for the rest of the morning..” Her relationship with Stitch was a curious one, but Hestia did truly enjoy the little puppy’s presence. Her kisses were soft and sweet. And for a moment, a hint of a smile adorned her lips. The coldness she often wore faded away in the blonde’s presence but still, it was difficult getting used to being relaxed. A small laugh left her lips at Alexei’s words. It was part true, but she said nothing to confirm that.
The blonde sighed softly laying her head back against the pillow before looking down between them at the puppy curled into Hestia’s side. His large ears twitched as they spoke, showing he wasn’t asleep anymore, but was still keeping the appearance of it. “He probably will be just to spite us..” Even if the puppy was a devious punk most of the time, his behaviors were starting to match Hestia’s even more now with her being his constant influence and that alone allowed the little guy to get away with almost anything.
Hearing that small laugh she looked back into those vibrant blue hues and smiled, few words ever really needed to be said between them, though anytime Hestia’s soft voice broke the silence it caused Alexei’s heart to flutter despite how hard she tried to hold the feeling back. It was her smile and most of all that laugh that Alexei was driven by, for someone who was content living their life only looking out for themselves, Alexei was now finding herself living for the purpose of making this girl happy. Nodding her head in a slightly teasing manner she rolled to her side and placed her arm gently over the brunette’s stomach, her fingertips ran against the definition of her stomach as if memorizing the toned lines that brushed under her fingers. Those pale green hues stayed locked on the brunette’s “It’s okay, I won’t tell anyone” she smarted playfully, “The feeling is mutual, the more I get used to coming home to you, the harder it is to want to leave.” she stated in a matter-of-fact tone. There was no hesitation in the blonde’s voice at her admittance of enjoying having the brunette around, even if it brought down Alexei’s guard to places she’d never let it go before.

The noise of the city was enough to keep her awake. Not even the warmth of the small puppy beside her was enough to keep her distracted for a while. Blue hues stared at the white ceiling, contemplating strolling around the apartment for her own sake. But instead, she remained there. Her fingers caressed the puppy, who seemed to be glued to her as of lately. It was adorable but it wasn’t something she would say out in the open for everyone to hear. The fact that a few weeks ago, her younger self sought out to eat a dog and yet she held love for this one was enough to tell her how much she’d changed in the past few months. It was strange, but she felt different. Her usual cold façade was mostly dropped in the blonde’s presence. The one girl who made her feel things she hadn’t ever felt before. Love. She was capable of loving her without hurting her or shredding her into pieces. Somehow it worked and she just hoped that happy lasted, because at the moment she was all her eyes were settled on. A soft sigh left her lips once the ceiling became boring. What to do?
Alexei found working closing shifts at the bar to be even more lagging now that Hestia was living with her. She found herself watching the clock, waiting for the lingering drunks to finally be cut off and kicked out of the bar so she could close this place and step back into the surreal reality of actually being with the blue eyed girl. The thoughts even just barely passing over her mind caused her to smile brightly and bit down on her lip. The last hour seemed to go on forever but she finally was able to close up the bar and head home. Stepping in the door she was instantly greeted with that protective little squeak of a bark from Stitch as she entered the apartment. She was sure Hestia was asleep, though assuming such a thing without Alexei actually being there was still something far fetched. She knew the girl was still adjusting to living with her, but for the most part she seemed, more happy now than Alexei had seen her before. She moved down the hall towards the bedroom, leaning against the threshold of the doorway as she met eyes with the hybrid girl, that loving grin surface instantly, “Good morning.” she said, though it was still dark outside the room windows. She moved to the edge of the bed and sat down kicking off the alcohol scented shoes before removing the uniform shirt and tossing it aside as she undressed from work and into something more comfortable. “He keeping you up?” Alexei asked before turning around to lay out across the bed next to her, leaning over to place soft kisses over her shoulder before moving to kiss her lips fondly, her heart pounded just being closer to the brunette. It was different, sure she had relationships before but none that just seemed to happen, like this. She never really was expressive in past relationships like this, but something about this girl, made her feel like a teen-aged girl falling for some high school crush. Alexei laid her head down next to Hestia’s, the smile never faded from her lips. “Or is it that you just can’t sleep without me here?” she arched a brow and smirked over at her.
Kurt nodded, not even needing directions to her house. Kurt new this town like the back of his hand, down to every minuscule detail of the place. His hand gripped the wheel firmly as he cruised through the town. He shrugged and shook his head lightly “Nothing really, just kinda working on the motel a lot. Had some unresolved family issues that i took care of too. Talked to an old friend from the pack, she likes to check on me a lot. Pretty much the only person left there that i have ties to. So yeah, still not part of the Kovac pack… I uh consider myself my own pack now. I get more work done that way anyways. Why rely on others for strength when you can become stronger yourself? Ya know?” Kurt realized he had been running on for quite some time now, actually the perfect length as they rolled up to her house. He turned to her and asked “Want me to stay outside for a bit? Make sure nobody is coming after you? I don’t mind sleeping in the dog house.” He chuckled as he patted the dash of his car, referring to it as his ‘doghouse’.
She sat there, still in the seat of his car, her hand wrapped in a cloth dried with her own blood. Biting the side of her tongue to ease the sickening pain she looked out the window of the car, “ I used to say the same thing..” she said softly before glancing over at him, “until I came to this town.” She let him continue to speak of self empowerment as Alexei let the thoughts and scenario moments before replay in her head as the appeared at the apartment building she lived in. Alexei’s pale green eyes searched his face, “You don’t have to, I live with that fanger whore, you seemed so keen to when we first met now,” she gave him a look as she said the word he used himself and smiled brightly, partially because it was ironic, but mostly she smiled because she felt some sense of belonging in saying that they lived together now. “And she’s not big on visitors.” She looked over to the apartment building before back at him, “ Take me to your place, I’m sure you got supplies, and I need your help with something, but...I’m still unsure if I should tell you, having ties to the pack and all..” she knew that his connection was Eva, but werewolf were extremely loyal to their kin, specially the Kovac pack and she wasn’t sure if he would turn to those deeply rooted loyalties or not. “ If I go in there, she will know I’m hurt and that’s nearly twice in two weeks, she may start putting me on lock down.” The blonde smarted playfully before wincing and sitting back in the seat, the slick sound of blood from the claw marks in her shoulder and side showed she needed to stop the bleeding. “ If you don’t have supplies take me to the clinic, I can fix myself up there.”
Being pulled out of her thoughts by a familiar voice, forcing a terrible accent, Lux looked up to spot her friend, a smile suddenly appearing on her face as she rolled her eyes, her head shaking some. There had been a weird air between them ever since the curse, and Lux was more than relieved to finally have her best friend back in her own… current mindset. “Get over here,” She spoke, her arms outstretched as she moved in to wrap herself around Alexei’s waist. Their height difference was laughable. “I know you hate hugs, but I don’t caaare.” She sang slightly, pulling away to look the girl up and down. She looked healthy, well-rested, and she couldn’t see any visible bite marks or bruises, so that was a good sign.
“Long time, no see, is right. And who’s fault is that, eh?”
Seeing that usual eye roll caused the blonde to relax a bit, it was expected and only went to show there wasn’t really any bad blood between them. She let the smaller girl hug her, her own arms moved around her neck loosely before tightening around her, “I don’t mind it, specially since I was a huge bitch to you while this spell thing was going on..” which lead her to dropping her gaze, “I know, but now you sorta understand why I literately had to up and leave that lifestyle behind..” she huffed and leaned into the bookshelf, “I came to nearly about to hook up with a guy, so...the experience was definitely not something I will choose to remember even though I do, remember all of it.” she stared off a bit,the memory of killing that werewolf crossed her mind once more. It was quickly pushed back as Alexei spoke of other topics, “You are my best friend, Lux.” she felt the need to make that as clear as she could, since during the spell she made it very clear to the girl she wasn’t.
Delilah smiled and nodded, pouring her a glass of the house brew. “You can add sugar, milk, or creamer,” she suggested with a smile. “They’re all right along the counter. The milk is in the mini fridge under the counter,” she informed her, still smiling. She totally understood how clueless she was to the world of coffee, she had been in the same boat only a day ago. “You’re not tough,” she laughed, “Honestly, I was in the same spot you were just a day ago. Today is my first day on the job, let alone in the world of coffee.” She laughed once more before adding, “You’d be amazed by all the crazy orders I get.” Some people had such complicated orders, it drove her insane. But she pushed through with a smile on her face regardless because that was the type of person she was.
Alexei nodded with a soft grin on her lips, “then I don’t feel as out of place not knowing the difference with all of this stuff, I’m more of a tequila and vodka kinda girl honestly.” she shrugged before looking over the shop, “I guess we go where the money takes us right?” She spoke as she waited for the drink, taking it in her hand once it was made and heading over to the counter to address it as she felt needed, “So does that make you knew in town entirely or just to this kinda of a job?” she asked as she returned to the counter, seeing the shop was rather slow at this hour.
“I wasn’t aware Silas actually had friends,” Eva said drily. At least not the Silas Alexei had known. There had been a time when Silas was more outgoing and less creepy, but that was years ago. She nodded in understanding. “Things around town seem to get increasingly dangerous. I’m trying not to let it get to me, but I do worry sometimes, you know? There are just some things that are out of your hands.” Eva glanced down at Alexei’s cut up fingers and again wondered what had happened. It looked like she’d gotten into some kind of fight, that much she was sure of. “Yeah, shit happens,” she nodded distractedly.
“Good, you should do it as quickly as possible. You don’t have as much endurance physically as some of the rest of us. You could seriously get yourself hurt.” She felt connected to Alexei on some level. They had a lot in common. Eva knew she’d never be able to escape the danger her life offered. She’d decided she was okay with it long ago, but she hoped that maybe Alexei could get out of it. The girl had gone through so much, she deserved some good. She nodded in understanding when the blonde said there was just too much going on to take in, especially with all their old memories having flowed back just that morning. Eva’d been bombarded with all of her worst memories. It made it hard not to think about them. “Well when you are willing to talk, you know where to find me.”
The comment of Silas not having many friends was something the blonde knew well enough on her own, “We had a weird sort of connection, but we were close, obviously close enough to be entrusted with the clinic.” It was a comment she said with a even breath, not entirely trying to press the matter further and ending up in a position to give her earlier actions away. Though she found it a clever subject to change the topic on once she spoke of things being out of their hands, “nothing is ever truly out of our hands...”
Alexei stopped just outside the gates leading into her apartment complex. She looked around before turning to Eva, “I know, I just know all too well how these things play out, and I know talking is beyond this..so.” The younger girl let her words fade out just as she looked down, “You don’t have to walk me the whole way if you don’t want too, clearly I can handle myself, but if you feel the need to make sure I get home completely you can come in for a drink...Though, my girlfriend,” The words felt new upon her lips as she spoke them however she didn’t give that away she looked casual about it, “ and my dog don’t exactly like visitors.” she shifted in her stance, there was something about the feeling she got when speaking for the hybrid girl and the pup in such a manner. It made her stand slightly taller despite her slight injuries. “Trust me, I see my luck running a bit too close for comfort lately, and I’m gaining reasons to stay out of the cross fire. Though it’s hard to pull yourself out of that, lifestyle..” She looked towards the building where her apartment was, “What doesn’t kill us though, right?” she smirked.
The blonde knew that she had to approach the other girl first, she felt terrible for how the younger version of herself had treated her friend, and once all of her memories resurfaced she knew things had to be addressed. She entered the Library and got met with the usual looks, by now Alexei learned to keep her mouth shut for the sake of Lux’s job, but that didn’t mean that she didn’t silently harass the old hags at the front desk upon entry. After doing her ob in making the women uncomfortable or irritated Alexei searched the row of old books looking for the short brunette.
Once she noticed the girl standing on the other side she rounded the corner and then walked up to her with a smart look on her face, “ ’xcuse me good lookin’ “ she flirted teasingly, “I’m looking for Fifty Shades of Grey, got any idea where that could be in this place.” she knew it would catch the girls attention but she played a smile, “Long time no see.”
There were no cars, no people, nor even a bird in sight, so it seemed. Only Edward and the howl of summer wind as he sat on the edge of a building… but then there was something else. A good few feet behind him made the sound of sand and gravel grinding against the dry cement floor. “You came to offer me company. How sweet.”
Alexei usually walked home from work, by now with Hestia living with her it was easier for Alexei to be out and about during such hours without any harassment from other supernaturals due to how heavy the hybrid girl’s scent was on her. Still Alexei had a certain level of no fear within her, she would have walked regardless how dangerous it could have been. As different as all of this was from L.A the only real difference street wise was the addition of supernaturals. As walked with her hand in her jacket pockets and didn’t pay attention to those around her outside of the scan over to see if they had intentions of harming her. As the man spoke Alexei turned to him and arched a brow “Um, no..you didn’t even look like you wanted company honestly.”
