With the school day over and AJ having everything he needed kept locked away in the men’s locker room, he was free to do as he pleased. Obviously he’d have to go over the paperwork that he got from his classes and review them back at his dorm room whenever he was finished doing what he was doing at the moment. But what he was doing a the moment, in his mind, was far more important. Just finishing an intense half-hour drill and training routine on the football field, AJ looked quite exhausted as he walked over to where the bleachers were and leaned down to rest his hands on his knees. Still stood, but hunched over for a moment to catch his breath as beads of sweat were evident on his face. Straightening his body back up a bit to twist his torso from left to right, AJ felt a bit better after popping a few bones in his back and thusly reached down to grab his squeeze bottle of Gatorade so he could take a few well deserved gulps. Considering how the temperature outside was eighty-eight degrees and party cloudy? The sun was beating down pretty heftily and he felt inclined to take a five minute break for the time being.
After finishing up her swim meet nearly a half hour beforehand, Alexis found herself mindlessly walking toward the football field. Seeing as her brother was just as serious about his sport as she was hers, she knew he’d be there– he was always there. Practicing, running drills, becoming a better version of himself. It was what they had always done, what they always would do as long as their bodies were able. It was the dream, or at least her dream, to go further than their parents did. The olympics. Her eye was one the prize and as far as she was concerned, it was hers for the taking. Pushing the thoughts to the back of her mind, Alexis noticed a familiar patch of dark brown hair reflecting the sunlight. As AJ hunched over, she jumped on his back and wrapped her arms around his neck. “HEY!” She voiced abruptly before letting a chuckle bubble in the back of her throat. “Don’t you think it’s time to call it a night?”
